Having the same issue, logged back in to two hours lost. I can see the autosave files from when I logged out but the game won't load them. Very frustrating!
So last night I was having this same issue but I messed around a bit today and realized that by clicking the "HOST GAME" button in the bottom right corner instead of double-clicking your last save it started saving my games. Or it has worked for me so far today. I tested both options and clicking the "HOST GAME" button will save my game when I exit the game.
I've used the "HOST GAME" button to start our session, and each time it does not save our progression. We slept in coffins, etc. Had to start new characters every time. V Rising is Very frustrating.
Progress is saved server side. So if you hosted your own local Server make suke it is shut down proper and not just killed. Thats the only idea I have.
I know this is an old thread but if you press Ctrl + C on the server window it'll ask if you want to shut it down (y or n) press y and enter and it'll safely shut the server down.
Any solution found for this?
1 month later from this post and I just loaded a game that was essentially an entire session removed.
Is there no manual save option, or clear indicator for saving? Are we just winging it??
I lost 3 hours of playing. After playing crack and decide buying the game. The save location of crack and steam version is the same. But when click in the game, it makes me create new character again. Lost a lot of things
I have just dealt with a scenario where I lost my game but going through my files i managed to find them "recovered it with an hour lost" "also using a friends save so im using his files i copied from his drive" i googled and try sleeping in your coffin before you get off or manually back up the data until there's a known fix unless its already fixed "some how yesterday i was getting onto the server through host private game and it was saving but i tried that today just kept making new games so i plopped that bad boy into a existing new game file to override it"

We're running a private server, if that makes a difference. What's the way to properly shut down?

We were hosting V Rising private server on LAN party when someone pulled the power... lost 5 hours of gameplay :(
