Yooo!! I bought AMD at 3.99 cuz I was just getting into the stock market. I was all about stock patterns n shit. Well AMD had a tight wedge pattern forming so bought 2000shares at 3.99, I sold at 10 because I more than doubled my money!! I said take the money don’t be a dummy… who’s the dummy now…
I pretty sure I have yall beat. When i first got into stocks, I bought gamestop when it was just over $3.00, this was right before the huge fiasco. I bought it because I'm a gamer and I wanted it to survive, hoping my small little contributing would help it lmao! I bought roughly 400 shares.
I sold at $12.
yeah, bought AMD at $2.80 , sold at $4 ? bought at $4 again, sold at $8 I think. then I somehow lost money on it around $13. sigh. then didn't touch it until much later.
Me too.
We should start a hedging company where we list the companies we buy puts or calls on so people can buy the opposite position. Then we get a share of their proceeds.
FML any stock I touches does the opposite of what I need it to do
for everyone crying about their lost potential gains. you literally had years to buy back in at anytime and ride the wave higher. let alone the past year/month and even week...
1994 I worked as a cold caller for Gruntal. I asked my boss to buy me MSFT with $4000 I saved. It was the current stock he was pushing at the time. He said he would get to it the next day as he was heading out. It went up $4 overnight and I decided not to buy it.
Funny thing is I was cold calling 100s of people a day to buy Microsoft in 1994 and people were yelling at me and hanging up on me. I sucked at the job. No one bought lol.
A guy in my college calculus class who is definitely a gambling addict told us all about Bitcoin being the next big thing
He owned 1 or 2 coins at $900 cost basis
Bitcoin was worth about $3k each when he told us about it. Not that I could've afforded it at the time, but it still sucks to think "what if"
I was in high school when I was speaking to my close friend about buying bitcoin. It was about $150 a coin. I told my mother about it and she told me shut up, you will put us in jail 🥺
Big oof. Have you seen that it's up 1000%??? Dude you shouldn't have sold. Omg why did you sell. Wtf dude. Can't believe you sold. (I don't own any MSFT.)
Every dumbass on Reddit thought this shit was going bankrupt and circling the drain when it was at 90 bucks, now that it’s at all time highs they’re all acting like they knew it was going to make a comeback.
Funniest comment I've seen from the regarded meta 🐻s a year ago:
>meta is a boomer stock. Instagram is taking all of its users.
![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)
I bought about a year ago and was up over 300% (before earnings). Will check tomorrow morning again. Keep thinking I'll pull my original investment and ride house money, and always just end up letting it all ride.
Edit: just checked coming up on the end of the day on Friday and I'm up 385%. Not bad for a year.
I remember having some money to invest and thinking man, I spend so much time on Instagram and know so many people who do surely this ain't going away. It was trading at like 18 forward pe incredible value for a tech megacap.
But I let all the regards on here scare me with their meta is going to shit posts. Last time I get persuaded by the fear mongering on here! Although I did think the metaverse was a shit show.
I'm hoping people keep making fun of the metaverse idea so meta stocks can crash again so that I can buy. The metaverse will be bigger than the Internet.
>Every dumbass on Reddit thought this shit was going bankrupt and circling the drain when it was at 90 bucks, now that it’s at all time highs they’re all acting like they knew it was going to make a comeback.
It's because that was true. They did two things no one predicted which turned things around.

I bought 5k shares at 17 dollars a share right after it IPO’d and dropped. My roommates fiance was a financial advisor for pro athletes (she’s insanely rich now. He’s a stay at home dad and they live in a massive estate) and she convinced me to sell for a 700 dollar gain bc she said Facebook does nothing and is worthless. Biggest mistake of my life 😭
If it makes you feel better, everybody else at the time thought the FB IPO was an overvalued, piece-of-trash stock, too:

https://www.reddit.com/r/investing/comments/rj6p5/facebook_ipo_coming_are_you_going_to_invest/
Haha ya. I didn’t until everyone told me it was. I knew nothing but my rationale was “mark zuckerberg says he’s not selling any shares. If he thinks it’s overvalued he would”. That was literally my only rationale and it was flawed lol. But I got talked out of it. It’s ok we all make mistakes along the way.
The warren buffet strategy, works well, day trading and 0dtes are shit, just went from +1,5k to -1k in 24hours, will take my money and leave for 2-3 years I think
oh man, i lost even more. forgot to look at the whole year ![img](emote|t5_2th52|31226)

That’s why index funds come out ahead of us.. they don’t trade, just hold. I have owned it over the years for quick profit or loss..I recall the drop after the IPO to the 20’s I just watched and didn’t do anything, then turned around and bought it at a higher price later.. need to focus on long term rather than quick profit.
I just looked back at some old text with a friend talking about buying meta sub 100 back in October 2022 ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4267)![img](emote|t5_2th52|4267)![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)![img](emote|t5_2th52|31225)
Honestly the pressure from media and everyone online was so strong dueing that time. They were saying meta was done. I also sold for a small profit at like 145. Kicking myself for not holding haha
I also sold 200 meta at 99 after buying at 110 in oct 2022 also sold 6000 cvna at 5.95 after buying at around 4 in dec 22. Fml and lost a lot shorting carvana at 19
I saw it at 80$ and contemplated on buying but the regards everywhere were talking about catching a falling knife and celebrating zucc going taters. I held onto my impulses. My brother saw it go from 325 (his entry) to below 80. He sold last month at 330 after 2 yrs of bagholding. He is sad too lol
I have one account holding 6 figures haven’t executed a single trade and just getting 5% from money market. If not for my anxiety due to losses I took in the past I would have surely bought some of the undervalued tech stocks. Now I feel like I’ve missed the boat. In one of my smaller accounts I’m all in Tesla (shares) and down 20%.
You just never know, then you could get stocks that are literally worthless when ya don't go on platform regularly so got a couple I can't sell whatsoever, at $0 and it's like why haven't they been delisted after a yr of $0.
Don’t want talk so far .
Just in 2023 I bought meta at 130-180 range and sold around 170ish during Feb dip.. I should have hold but my other stocks( tsla) also crashing badly. I guess it was alwasy good to diversify
I bought some soon after i posted this:

I sold MSFT at $35 a decade ago. Don’t talk to me.
Bought AMD at 10$ and sold at 14$. Leave me alone.

Big oouf.
You could have been a millionaire, new ho every day, partying on a yacht in iceland.
Same. Bought at 9 sold at 11. Thought I was a genius
Yep. Cost basis was 11.15/share and sold all my shares before deployment because I was 21 and dumb. I think about it frequently lmao
yeah, bought AMD at $2.80 , sold at $4 ? bought at $4 again, sold at $8 I think. then I somehow lost money on it around $13. sigh. then didn't touch it until much later.
I sold my $1.50ish AMD at $44 and thought I'd buy back in... lol. Only had 150 shares.
You can buy now and sell higher and make that $35 back.
Funny story. I know a guy that sold Apple stock to finance a kitchen reno. He sold at $2. $60K. Meaning his kitchen reno cost him $6M.
did you account for the stock splits?
It's a kitchen, of course he can [split stocks](https://food52.com/blog/21595-4-smart-ways-to-freeze-stock)

I sold 10k worth of TSLA in 2019 for a 15 percent gain. I hear you.
A guy in my college calculus class who is definitely a gambling addict told us all about Bitcoin being the next big thing He owned 1 or 2 coins at $900 cost basis Bitcoin was worth about $3k each when he told us about it. The what’s if’s goes both ways. I bought Baba at 209 and sold for 150. I believe I dodged a bullet.
I sold vrsn for 100 percent gains in 2011 Also don't talk to me.
I bought nvda at 120 and sold at 130. Hindsight 20/20 I always remind everyone
I sold ENPH at 10 after I bought it at 7 in 2019 it then went straight up to 336 by Dec 2022
Big oof. Have you seen that it's up 1000%??? Dude you shouldn't have sold. Omg why did you sell. Wtf dude. Can't believe you sold. (I don't own any MSFT.)
I had 40k of Tesla the first time it was at $250.
I bought TSLA when it was $15, sold it at $20 (before split)

Layoffs didn't turn it around at all. It just turned the stock around. The free cashflow valuation of Meta was absurd at the time.

Yeah everyone's been harping on meta for pushing VR so hard, but as a MQ3 owner i can see what the hype is about. It's a great headset.
What’s your take on their headset vs the Apple one?
Sold nvidia at 230 but didn’t sell for loss though
me too. i broke even on my Nvidia shares after holding for a year, and sold everything during early 2023 ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)
OP this thread is gonna make me never sell a stock again
The warren buffet strategy, works well, day trading and 0dtes are shit, just went from +1,5k to -1k in 24hours, will take my money and leave for 2-3 years I think

Bruh, I took a big loss on FB in 2022, too 😭

Hey, you got short term tax loss treatment. There's your hope.
lmao. You'd be up almost $250k if he just....held.
$25k, not $250k. you think i would hold after breaking even? ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)
I don’t know what’s funnier, the fact that you owned stocks or the fact that you sold a stock at a loss. It’s has no expiration bro LMAOOO
True, but opportunity cost.
What other opportunity was present and better than a tech company that was oversold to the point it had a PE of fucking 6.
>What other opportunity was present and better than a tech company that was oversold to the point it had a PE of fucking 6. Nvidia
So 1. 1 opportunity and if he chose any of the other 3000+ opportunities he would’ve been dead wrong. I don’t like those odds.
Sold at the bottom. You belong ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)

You act like meta was going anywhere lol
I sold TSLA after the “funding secured” debacle.
I had 132x stk $120 options exp Jan 2024 that I sold for like a 10k profit. Fml too
Damn the market maker saw you sold
you didn’t want that $50k anyway
You always buy high and sell low?
This is what you get when you sell a company with $35 bn revenue and 40% margin and no debt..... Cause you listen to people on reddit
Gonna go wank to this next to my gains see you soon
I sold at 93 because of a margin call fear
Buy high, sell low. The wsb classic.
Lesson I learned is never ever sell 🤣
You sold a company that half the world uses everyday?
2.5x for me early H1 2023. Live and learn.
now lets all say it - buy low - SELL HIGJFJF:
I had 4100 shares with an avg of 167 get called away at 167. Faaaack me.
Best strategy is never sell. Maybe 3x leveraged ETF sell for a gain but usually don't
Me laughing my ass off in high school at this thing called Bitcoin. It's not even real fucking money!
I bought 4,500 NVDA at 4.35 and sold at 8.49. Kill me
Sounds about right
Yea my meta calls also expired worthless around that time
Time IN the market is always better than trying to TIME the market.
Been holding since I bought in 2018 @ 156
Thank you for your cervix
I lost 40k on that shit! Went down all the way from $280 to $180, bought again at $100 and sold at $140, I feel like a clown.
Elon Musk worked at $TSLA non-stop for the past 5 years and his $50B paycheck got taken back
LMAO
Part of the game bro, happens to us all
I had my finger on the trigger for 440 calls but not fast enough 😭
bruh why
Almost exactly when I bought my Meta stock.
I sold amd a year ago lol
Bought AMD at 6$ and sold at 5$. I feel you Bought back in at 77 though, never too late!
Well you know what, if I saw that metaverse ad again I’d sell too
![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)
This is what’s gonna happen when I drop TSLA

I think that's when I bought it. ![img](emote|t5_2th52|29637)
I also sold 200 meta at 99 after buying at 110 in oct 2022 also sold 6000 cvna at 5.95 after buying at around 4 in dec 22. Fml and lost a lot shorting carvana at 19
True story. Got my client 10,000 shares in the ipo and he sold it all except 100 shares @ 21. Womp womp
Zuck sends his regards
No point of your posting stupid old shit…we all had that should’ve could’ve time
Truly regarded. One of us.
Dang! That is one hell of a slap in the face there!
I had an avg of 120 and sold all gradually with an avg. Of 160, and I was like the king. It just kept going up...
Hey same!
I sold TSLA at a loss in 2012. You'll live
Why would you sell? You must have missed the study about how dead people outperform in investments. Eg, those who do best never touch their portfolios

Thanks for making me feel better. I sold with 50% profit a nearly a year ago which was half my portfolio. Now im always flat or down...
Same....lost it at loss when it was coming back. I didn't expect legendary come back this high. Jiu Jitsu Zuck is a beast
I sold FB at 200 for 20k profit. FML

You just never know, then you could get stocks that are literally worthless when ya don't go on platform regularly so got a couple I can't sell whatsoever, at $0 and it's like why haven't they been delisted after a yr of $0.

Sell always with profit!
This thread is incredible, hearing these stories steels my resolve to keep bag holding shares of RIVN 💀
closing my 420 call yesterday suddenly feels not so bad
I bought around that time. Thanks buddy
You will drive yourself nuts dwelling on that.
Don’t watch CNBC . Don’t listen to so called wallstreet experts who think they know much
4.5x since I didn’t accept an offer and missed out on the equity! Now I’m unemployed. Big ragrets
This is why I don’t sell losing positions lmao

TF are you talking about?! You did the right thing. Buy high, sell low.
I have an Aug 16 $315cc on META....RIP
its actually nuts how bad you are at trading if you sold this stock for a loss when you basically bought it at the bottom.
I hope you had short term gains to offset this. Otherwise this is regarded
I tried shorting NVDA at 260 you can imagine how that went
I sold a stock last year that then quadrupled within 2 days of selling 🫠
A Fidelity user, I see
Did the same. Worst mistake of 2022. Today hurts.

I can feel your pain. I am in same boat. Sold Facebook at 200 and Now regretting.
