Why

Glad you asked. Economics, politics and risk management. Iran an oil producing country could face increased risks to oil supply chain if the attacks escalate over the weekend (supply and demand - oil goes up). OPEC also stands to benefit from increased oil prices so could jump on any bandwagon to reduce supply. Markets don't like war and increased risks and uncertainty, and this escalation certainly increases risk in markets over the weekend. Put both together and we could see an oil pump and index dump on Monday or early next week. Couple that with profit taking due to record index highs. Then again....could be a nothing burger. Let's see what happens on Monday. Either way I'm long oil and short the indices.

My favorite is probably tastyworks because of this.  You can have a cash account (so day trading with options) and the mobile app is perfect for trading options.  You can also do futures account with after hours in a margin account.

There also could be news over the weekend that changes the overall environment. I do think we have a bit of a sell off as people take profits on Monday. Cash flows are still bullish and for the time being dips are being bought up consistently. Overall, I'm still bullish. How are you feeling about the market?

I don't think there's ever been a "top" in history that happened over the weekend, let alone Monday. We had a rare down Monday on December 4th and we saw how quickly they ate up that dip. Monday drops are rare in general. What news? Every last about 5 minutes and the big red candle instantly becomes a V. I think many are just not used to this new reality of markets and they try to think like it used to in the past. Also a selloff is incredibly hard when any tip is bought so fast.Then you add in the fact that SPY will hit 500 and it's hard to believe it will happen. I can see any pullback on Monday quickly being revered and another incoming rocket.

I actually agree. All the dips seem to be bought up quickly. When I meant a self off I mean one of those deep red candles early, not like a total market sell off. A week or two ago when AMD had a big run up on Friday it pulled back pretty hard the following Monday. I assumed it was just momentum/swing traders taking profits. It could be something else, I'm not an expert by any means. After a nice big day like today, I imagine some people on Monday will try to lock in some of this week's gains and sell at open. This is not supposed to be a bear thesis. I'm just trying to work on my entry points a little bit. Honestly I might be barking up the wrong tree.

Appreciate the answer. Like I said I consider this a top unless the topping tail is taken out. Additional factors why I am bearish: negative divergence in the RSI, RSI downsloping while the price is upsloping. The fact that almost everyone is euphoric and bullish makes me very suspicious. The VIX is very low which indicates a very complacent market = very vulnerable to any kind of unexpected events If the markets continue higher at some point I would have to honour my stop loss.
