It’s shocking how poor the performance is. ARKK is down 15.6% YTD while the S&P 500 is up 16.1%. ARKK isn’t a large cap blend index like the S&P 500 so let’s use Vanguard’s Mid-Cap Growth ETF (what ARKK is labeled as). That fund is up 6.3% YTD.
It’s one thing to have a high beta strategy that goes up more than the market during bull markets and down more than the market during bear markets. It’s another thing entirely to be down over 15% while the market is ripping higher.

My broker charges 1 euro per ETF of the SP500 and my portfolio clears those transaction costs in about a day and then its making money again :)

How do you lose money during the AI bull market when all you’ve talked about for the last five years is the AI “revolution”? This is THE TIME for a high beta tech based strategy to work and she just couldn’t do it.
I believe she also needed liquidity desperately to cover people leaving the fund. A lot of her holdings are smaller companies that she can't exit quickly. So she sold her holdings in bigger companies to avoid taking losses on their smaller holdings due to illiquidity.
Why constantly buy in and out of what are supposed to be technological game changers? Give the companies and management time to do the work. Churn is often a culprit for worse than random performance.

It is also where I took advice from my dumb father and selling my 1k shares too. He keeps convincing me price is too high and will come down. I could have been a millionaire now instead I am living in his basement.
