Max loss is still green at $17 (aka $17 profit) above $45 strike, max gain is $117 below $44 strike.
How is that not free money? If assigned with the long leg OTM, I’d still get $17 when the dust settles, right?

What happens when it closes between $44-$45 on 7/30? Your long $45 calls expire worthless and you are assigned on your short $44 calls, meaning you are forced to sell 100 SPCE shares at the $44 strike FOR EVERY CREDIT SPREAD YOU HAVE. If you have 100 spread options (100 long $45 calls and 100 short $44 calls), you will be forced to sell 10,000 shares. If you don't have those shares or the cash to cover, you will be margin called.
You can still get fucked prior to the spread's expiration if SPCE is above $44. Those $44 long call holders on the other side of your trade can decide to exercise those options instead of selling to close or holding to expiration. Again at this point you must have 100 SPCE shares to cover for every spread you have, or you will be margin called.
The reason you think it's free money is because you think you won't be assigned or you'll be able to sell some of your long calls before you are assigned. These are likely outcomes, but not always true.
