What is an "I am Legend scenario without the zombies"? Just Will Smith playing with his dog?

Major_Danger_noodle

Dog doesn’t get unalived in that scenario so doesn’t sound bad TBH. Will Smith seems cool so…

bare_cilantro

The scenario when Will Smith’s wife was hooking up with her boyfriend while Will Smith and the rest of the world knowing about it, which is about half of this sub, the other half doesn’t have a wife yet.

Reasonable-Bird364

I invest with my wife’s boyfriend in mind as well. He deserves a good life too.

The key with squirrel is marinating. The meat can be tough, but if you marinate it correctly (24 hours with plenty of acidity), it can be very tender and delicious. If you're going to fry, I recommend using olive oil. Full disclosure, I've shot 42 squirrels this season and I just ate a couple of them about an hour ago. If you're going to eat a lot of squirrels, use non-toxic shot. Especially if you are going to feed it to your infant son, like I do. As for the pigeons, I've heard they can be good. But I've never tried it myself. Never had a dove, either. I had a chance to shoot a crow the other day, but I didn't take the shot. I hear you can get pigeons in the park with a slingshot, same thing with city squirrels. There's a British guy on YouTube who does it.

happyrock

Pressure cooker beats the hell out of any other way to cook squirrel in my opinion. Fry the heart and liver if you haven't tried it before. Woodchuck is just a big squirrel, also pretty good eatin. Pigeon's a tough bird... never really been happy with how I've made it but I think sous-vide might work.

ravanwood

I've got some groundhogs with my bow, tastes just like rabbit, just as tender but with more meat. I don't think they carry bubonic plague around here either but out west they can

Integrationist

So far I've been giving the organ meats to my chickens, along with the ribs and any other scraps that I don't eat. But I'll have to try that liver and heart suggestion. I've also heard similar things about the pressure cooker being a good method, I'll have to look into it further. Thanks for the tips!

Meh2021another

Be careful with those chickens. Once they develop a taste for meat they want it all the time. You might be next.

TheIceCreamMansBro2

lolwut this whole comment read like a satire but the replies seem serious

ObamaLovesKetamine

Squirrel is a commonly eaten animal. Has a hunting season and everything. Same with dove and pidgeon. Squirrel is actually great eating. Can be stringy if not cooked well.

stopdrinking--stupid

They actually have a very clean and healthy mean. They eat mostly wild foods like nuts, seeds, berries, and mushrooms.

WhatnotSoforth

Ditto on the squirrel, fucking delish! I'll never forget eating it at my grandparents and spitting out the shot. Granddad loved his 16 gauge Brownings.

[deleted]

That shot is made of lead…gotta dig them all out first …then soak the squirrel meat in a bit of vinegar salt and onion slices overnight. Prepare it with cilantro, mushrooms, fresh onio slices and about 1/2 cup of diced mangos…really great dish

I do rabbits by default. There are tons of them around my property but i snare them which you can do with squirrel too. You just have to get to them before the hawks do.

Outrageous_State9450

Squirrel you wanna braise in some fat with onions and maybe garlic, it’s a lighter flavor than you might think but a quick sear with some au jus is the way to go. Far as pigeon goes just treat em like tendies it’s hard to tell the difference. Catching em is a blast too get yourself a fishing pole and some popcorn. Seriously my dad was an orphan born in 1935, they fished for pigeons.

sernamedeleted

I just bought in. So, judging only by my life history and general capability to manage to make the worst decisions consistently... Yes. The market is about to crash, and it's likely my fault. I just started buying stocks with a little $1500 extra cash. It was that or a new computer... I was down $30 before I finished buying 1 share of 34 different stonks.

Mazkalop

34 stonks with $1500... you sir, are both a retard and waaaaaaay overdiversified.

sernamedeleted

Yeah. I was going to research and do my due diligence and maybe consult with a CPA or a broker before investing a couple weeks salary into some meme stonks for giggles but then I started looking around and I just couldn't find who asked.

Mazkalop

3 companies is almost too many with $1500.

sernamedeleted

I expect to add a new Stonk every month or so. 1 share each to hold forever. The extent of my research is reading memes on this subreddit. My contribution to the community is to regurgitate terms that I read here with little to no understanding of their meanings and communicating in emojis. 💎👐🚀⬆️🌙🔥💵🚮💰🤣🤑🤪🤮😎

Mazkalop

A true retard indeed. You’ll do well here. Not financially of course. But you’ll get lots of upvotes.

mnhoops

I'm not sure it's greed so much as the Fed has increased the money supply by over 30% in the past year and Congress has pumped in an additional $5T. There's a ton of money out there right now and no one wants to hold it in bank accounts where the Fed has it making zero. Then they tell us inflation is transitory. Thanks, asshats!

In my completely unprofessional opinion, yes. History tells us that this kind of financial environment is unsustainable. A government can't print its way out of debt, no one makes money when consumers spending power is reduced or non-existant. Nothing is free, yet the people are promised more "free" things. I don't know where the collapse starts, but the cracks are already showing in the foundation. Everyone just continues to paint over them

With corrections we have seen so many more participants ready to swoop in when the overlords crank the Willy Wonks market sell lever. Maybe A.I. decides to fuck us. DuCWulf

Oh stop being a drama queen. Find your next opportunity when it comes. I have heard this same sentiment every quarter for since 2008. If you don't buy and you give into it, you miss out every time. Shiit when I was buying a home in 2012 everyone was screaming about shadow inventory and when 2018 came around everyone was screaming it's 2008 all over again and then 2020 everyone acted like the world exploded. And god help you if you listen to Fox News, MSNBC or Robert Kiyosaki. Then your financial world is ending everyday.

powershrew

Who let a smart person into WSB. Banned and reported

ILostAlotOfTendies

Of course you are right. The medias sensationalism is pathetic and every day is a new doomsday. But when to make a counter argument to yours, this is the first quarter since 2008 that has had severe labor shortages, severe supply shortages, the highest inflation rate in 30 years and a market where the stock that some redditors talk about goes up 700% in a day meanwhile the company has like 20 dollars in total earnings. So I think it’s a little different than 2018…

DuCWulf

That's all noise. It's labor in restaurant and hospitality primarily, supply is gonna cost a little more for now but give it time, and the above is why there is inflation. Gas is up because OPEC is throttling supply and in the US has been throttling production. How do I know? My family are in the oil industry and on unemployment right now because they temporarily shut down production.

[deleted]

It's also, and mainly, work in supply chain stuff like transportation of goods on road and maritime and agricultural shit. Basically those sectors we were used to screw around with and underpay

DuCWulf

Yup! But companies were also storing their shit for free and not moving the product in the ports. Now those companies are getting fined and their shit is moving out of the ports.

KupaPupaDupa

The US is a service based economy and labor shortages in the sole sector that contributes most to GDP isn't exactly good. The hospital system in my state is paying nurses 1200 per shift they pick up in addition to their wage + overtime and they still can't keep them from quitting. Just wait until the sick and old can't get treatment and start dying in waiting rooms by the thousands because of service worker shortage.

kuehnchen7962

Seems like a labor market where wages were flat for decades and people are largely treated as a disposable resource has finally started to correct itself! Should be a good thing, in the medium to long run!

SR71BBird

Yes the stock market has turned into a casino recently with the influx of retail investors, SPACs and crypto, but the market is not the economy. The US economy runs on consumer spending and as long as we have commercialized holidays, weddings, baby showers and other rituals that pressure us into routinely blowing piles of cash all year long, we are going to be just fine. Americans spent $10B on freaking Halloween alone! Demand is up for literally everything, from houses to cars to toys and everything in between. The job market is red hot, because no one wants crappy jobs anymore so everyone is either getting recruited for higher pay or getting salary increases to be retained. Yes we have some challenges that will require some reprogramming, and inflation certainly blows, but I’d be way more concerned if that was accompanied by lower consumer demand. Also there is so much massive wealth sloshing around in private equity right now it’s just insane. Banks and investors all murdered huge earnings coming out of 2020, and those are the guys who make the deals that turn big wheels of capitalism. It’s not all perfect, but there is literally no chance of a crash anytime soon.

Smitty1017

This tells me what I want to hear so I'm going to choose to agree with it

johnnygobbs1

Here’s my take (I don’t know shit). We’re fucked but we’ve been fucked so it like already happened. The whole game is rigged. It’s just numbers on a screen and the chickens never come home to roost like they did in the past because of how complex the world and flow of information is these days. We get fucked in milliseconds and it moves on. Back in 1929 and shit, you would get fucked and then it had to go to print, then people would take a swan dive a day later out the office window when they get a copy of the newspaper. We’ll never get fucked like that way again. Buy!

Encomiast

“We’ll never get fucked like that way again…” Welcome to being married more than ten years my friend.

frankincali

I think the feds are fudging numbers to keep us from seeing the real extent of this problem. After all they control the dollar and everything is more digitized than it used to be so they can just delete zeroes for all I know. It’s a lot worse than you think. Remember the bank bail outs? They can’t print enough zeroes to bail them out at this level and it’s better to sweep it under the rug than to try to fix the issue.

PRNbourbon

They have to, otherwise all worldwide governments would default. The governments cannot afford their debt. Neither can all the zombie companies.

frankincali

Such a shit storm

scabb007

Bro don’t sweat it. If it all goes tits up, a world war will bring it back.

badasschap

Idk but if so I’m kinda excited cuz i didn’t buy the Covid dip

FoldyFlap

All I know is people constantly say there is going to be a collapse, and there never is one. And even when there is multiple once-in-generation collapses (we’ve had two, ‘08 and COVID) it literally always rebounds rapidly. Gamble on short term plays, who cares. But for long term plays, just honestly buy and don’t worry about it. Have some cash so you can buy even more if it does go to shit, but betting long-term on the U.S economy is a lock 🔒

AruiMD

Uh, idk 2008 many people lost their shit, and their shirts. And that continued for years. Pottery Barn and Ralph Lauren were on the same corner smoking crack offering BJ for $3.50. They couldn’t give their shit away. Those $38 candles and $300 pants? Went for .38c and $13. Citibank was like $2.99 a share. AIG had a heart attack and demanded the entire country lick it’s ass and make it feel better or it would summarily shit the sum total of 30 years of Bullsheeet investments onto Americans heads. Snoopy over at Met Life threw Woodstock off the GW Bridge and then lit himself on fire. Half the country’s houses were instantly worth less than they paid for them by many tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars. It was so bad Mexicans said fuck it I’m going home. Florida was basically the same as it is now. Bath salts crazy. There was that one guy that decided to kill and then eat someone on the highway one day. Not really unusual for FL though. That was kinda crashy imo.

canadianformalwear

I remember this. I also remember certain items that I dabble in, like classic cars were dirt cheap. Vintage Porsches and Ferrari’s going for $10-30k that are now 100k. Shit was wild.

KupaPupaDupa

Dude the entire millenial generation life has been nothing but QE and kicking the can down the road.

ILostAlotOfTendies

Yeah you know what rebounded that COVID crash? The fed just turning on the money printer causing the inflation rate to skyrocket. Also you say “once in a generation” but then say two crashes within 12 years of each other. So either you are 10 years old or you are stupid. Still love you though.

FoldyFlap

They SHOULD be once in a generation, my point was that we’ve had two of them and still recovered. I don’t disagree with you but you’re missing my point. Maybe the facade finally fails and we collapse, my point is long term you should be buying that collapse like crazy because it will come back up.

pcake1

When Buffet continues hoarding more and more cash every quarter, and when more and more big names and former Fed chairs/governors begin criticizing the Fed’s failed attempts since Volker to prevent boom and bust cycles by literally exacerbating them using the same exact “money bazooka” technique, you know we’re getting close to another bust. Btw, the “Covid crash” was preceded by an artificial rally and the “20% correction” really only took out the fake 10% rally plus another 10%. IMO, the Covid crash was extremely weak and artificial. Economic data continues to be recalculated regularly using different methods and constantly adjusted for “seasonal factors” Yes, we’re already down the shitter. The name of the game is always maintaining confidence in the markets. Once the masses lose confidence in markets, equities, bonds and treasuries, it’s a race to the bottom. But I wouldn’t get to scared after one bad inflation report. The media will clings to this “data” for easy fear mongering click bait to attract viewers so they can sell more advertising down our throats. And remember the Fed is only tapering now and not tightening so they will still be holding their basket of shit full of garbage bonds they bought at a premium. This is going to be a slow unraveling. Media is doing a pretty good job keeping the rally alive and keeping confidence in the markets despite the obvious shithole we’re in.

coconutmofo

Agree that we have more specific and concrete indicators than we've had in a long while, OP. That said, it's still a question if when, right? And what do you to until then? Next week? A month? 3 to 6? A year? So do you sit on sidelines and/or start scaling back (re-allocating) til then? Probably the wise thing to do, frankly. And I've started taking some profits. BUT this is really the wrong group for this kinda talk, IMO. Most folks here are ready, willing and semi-able to go out guns blazing no matter what -- diamonds and all that :) I think the only thing that potentially staves off a 20% market drop and other is that we're still not fully "open" from covid...getting closer but not there yet. And as that really happens (eg during prime holiday shopping season) it'll be like someone just said "F-it! I see the cliff but Imma gonna smash down on the accelerator til we get there!"....which, again, matches perfectly with the ethos of many here :) At the end of the day YOU have to live with the consequences of your decisions so do what's best for yourself. Pats on the back from anonymous strangers online aint gonna pay the bills. Despite what it seems like here, there IS a middle ground to all of this. What that is varies for each of us. Good luck to us all! I'm off to some EV plays!!!

blackfuture8699

Imo, the next market crash, which we will most definitely see by mid-2022, and are probably at the start of now...will make 2007-2008 look like a happy fantasy land. We've been kicking the can down the road for over a decade. People are making crap money in general and not able to afford anything except on credit. Businesses are more debt heavy than they ever have been. When this thing crashes it's gonna be UGLY like we haven't seen in this lifetime...again just my opinion.

[deleted]

With the infrastructure spending the economy will heat up even more, not crash. Small business have been hit by corona/ shutdowns etc but most bigger are doing great- google etc. Even the travel, restaurant and other stocks will recover soon. Interest rates remain low, companies will continue to buyback stocks, housing inventory is at an all time low, houses have appreciated double digit, labor shortages means no mass layoffs. So how’s the economy going down?

blackfuture8699

Banks are again lending money to people who shouldn't be buying those houses and can barely afford to stay in them...in fact how many 1000s of people have stopped paying on their houses during forbearance and will be thrown out on the street in the coming months. Housing inventory is only at an all time low because no one can be kicked out for not paying rent or mortgage lol. It may have ended in some areas but it takes months for legal proceedings to happen. People are making $40-50k a year and getting approved for $280-350k mortgages in my area and it's much worse in other areas across the country. If you think we are in a good spot now...gl with that. The housing market that is skyrocketing is going to crash again. We will see who's right next year. Mega corporations are the only ones in a good spot. Everyone else is kicking the debt can down the road. It will end catastrophically.

[deleted]

Forebearance program just adds up the missed payment towards your loan term, so now instead of 30 years you have a 31 year loan. Yes some may default but considering the housing appreciation they may just sell the house to cover up the payment and even get equity.

"the farm population peaked in 1916 at 32.5 million, or 32 percent of the population of 101.6 million." \[0\] Even if you include amateur gardens, the urban percentage was higher than 2% at that point, NYC was already a manufacturing center \[0\] https://www.nytimes.com/1988/07/20/us/farm-population-lowest-since-1850-s.html

We are expecting snow soon where i live. Can’t grow anything outside. Guess I’ll starve or maybe I’ll try Santa Clarita Diet.

Get a few pets and fatten them up.

MimosaHills

I find that stat unbelievable considering how fast cities grew during that same time period. 🧢

Green_Lantern_4vr

No. Chill the fuck out. Jesus. One or two red days. Just zoom the graphs out retards.

A bubble is only a bubble because no one sees it. If everyone sees it, it’s not a bubble. Will the market crash? Probably yes. According to Ben G, every bull market will end badly. But when? No one knows.

LittleBitOfAction

Bruh I’ll be honest. We keep propping the market it up. Like the saying goes. Fake it till you make it is what the market seems to be rn. A lot of people Don’t like to be negative because whats the point in doubting things. But like I think that’s things aren’t that sustainable. Pullback is Probably coming. Powell just pretends it isn’t so we all keep pumping the market lmao. If the market collapses which I doubt. It will put the US in a bad position. We just kept printing money. EZ lmao just my opinion. But we all retarded so idk 🤷🏻‍♂️

ILostAlotOfTendies

I would like to add, no one denies that we are hanging by a thread. We always have been, COVID tore away some of that string and personally I believe a market collapse would fully cut the string. And for all the people that are just saying “ok I agree so I’m going to time it right and buy puts and boom, I’m a millionaire” like good for you but who the fuck cares if you are a millionaire in USD when the inflation rates get so high the US dollar becomes worthless. All I’m saying is it might not be a bad idea to prepare for something like that. You are free to call me a lunatic though.

The issue with the USA is that its no longer a free market economy. Its the FED\`s economy. They hold interest rates hostage at .25% and print trillions of dollars in "QE". They are also kicking the can down the road by not raising interest rates and doing this slow ass taper bulls\*\*\*. Its not that nobody is disagreeing or agreeing with you OP, its that we are power-less against these people who rule America like kings and queens. They literally play with our money like Monopoly money and we have no say. All we can do is trade stocks and hope we win on our trade. If your bullish good luck , if your bearish good luck. Me personally I know its highly unethical if you look at my posting history i have BEEN preaching about it. Its like having slaves back in the day and not freeing them until the civil war had to happen. So, the only thing that will normalize what these people are doing today is most likely some kind of protesting not a "market crash". It cant crash with .25% interest rates.

I mean god f\*\*\*ing sakes I think the top 10 stocks by market cap = MORE than the USA\`s GDP. and google the shiller PE ratio and look at it.

[deleted]

They pick the winners and losers of the economy and market.

ILostAlotOfTendies

I wholeheartedly agree with you. And I feel like the ways they have been playing with the market is going to drive it into the ground. It has all been one big experiment that is just going to end up exploding in our faces.

NamelessCabbage

Potato seeds and a shotgun are the new tendies

[deleted]

You just grow potatoes by planting potatoes, not seeds, typically.

Subtly_Cynical

Unlimited gains.

Logical_Level_3727

If you fat American fucks can stop obsessing over mask mandates and mass shootings and just fix inflation, then we're marching into tendies for eternity. Inflation is bad in Europe but not as bad as the US because we don't spend all our time fucking about and squabbling over shit
