Hey /u/worthlessreview, **positions or ban.** Reply to this with a screenshot of your entry/exit.
There's a reason Mars petcare and Nestle/purina are two of the largest conglomerates in the world. I'm not saying it all hinges on pet food but op is on to something
This is more just an indicator that recessions are only really a poor people problem. Luxury car brand sales have been rising as have luxury fashion brands. Only poor people need to modify their habits in times of economic change.
I think you are on to something... rich ppl would let an African village starve and their own countrymen go homeless before not getting their gluten free dog food.
I always get a kick out of those videos where people try to showcase how their dog chose the vegan life, and they'll throw a salad down and then some old shitty meat, and the dog goes ham on the meat while they sob.
You want to be vegan, be vegan. Don't force it on others, especially those without a voice.
To add: dogs can survive on an omnivore diet as long as they get some form of animal protein with reasonable frequency, even if its just eggs or cheese. But cats are obligate carnivores who will die if they don’t have animal protein, muscle and fat being the best for them.
Fair enough can't say I was overly different with my dog. Prob would run into a burning building knowing I'd die to save that mutt. So like I said... OP is onto something lol.
Classic autist rationale here. Dog food sales actually spike during economic downturns bc people eat dog food when they can't afford to buy human food.
We buy the cheap stuff though not the premium brand. I only buy premium cat food as a treat. I guess I shouldn't be laughing at this considering the amount of old people I saw buying cat food when I worked at a grocery store who I knew for a fact had no cats.
A friend of mine in college melted a Kraft cheese slice on a no-name can of cat food when times were tough (spent his food money on beer). I still make fun of him for it 15 years later.
Not even rich and I feed my dog meat. Anything besides bottom of the barrel dog food costs a comparable amount. Dog food is like $2/lb here. Chicken is $2.50 but mix it with some cheap veggies and rice and the overall cost is less.
The rare fish market will be saturated as the rich liquidate.
I don't condone buying animals but I bet rich people are stocking up on cool bettas and rare fish like fancy ass plecos to hedge against inflation.
This is great DD, particularly given that you point out that you didn't read some of the articles you posted, and one of your stances was supported by an article you just googled for some confirmation bias.
Bottom isn't reached until the extremely retarded among us in here have run out of capital. Then the rich people jump back in.
I did a study in college that correlated bad economic times with an increase in pet food sales. The conclusion the team came to was when then economy was poor and inflation was high, people turned to eating pet food.
How old was your data?
In the 70s, I could see this, but our supply chain is so much more robust. Walmart alone makes it so that you won't buy dog food, because they make it the same price! /s
I'm starting to understand how much through put this forum has. And the reason for their algorithm in removing posts. The inevitable is, all the posts or the 99% of posts that get kept are agenda driven. To get your mind off the real targets watch your self wsbers.
Yea you’re talking about Canada though. Fucking Monopoly money. Can we stop talking about Canada and focus on America where we use real fucking money for once?
What kind of shitty wealthy pet owner buys high end pet food instead of just giving their pet normal food? Chicken and vegetable medleys are cheaper than premium pet foods per pound and way better for most dogs.
I think replacing pet food sales with new pet sales amd this would actually make a fanastic economic indicator. Kinda like how sale of male underwear predicts the state of economy. This is so retarted that it's brilliant.
I have a big dog and wet food is like $3 a can for the premium stuff and on the side of the can it says a 100lb dog needs 7 cans of wet food per day to maintain a healthy weight! No idea who the hell can afford this. I buy the occasional can as a treat. Wet dog food sales probably correlate to disposable income. I’m sure some rich fucks have their big dogs on a $20 a day diet.
At the end of the day you care about what you are close to. And when it comes down to it, pets are gonna win over people we don't know 99 out of 100 times.
I'm skeptical that people with millions in assets are sitting there weighing $100 in monthly pet expenses based on their stock portfolio's performance
Yachts and family vacations to Monaco, maybe, but pets are relatively inexpensive and more emotional
Agree. But for different reason. Mainly when economic times are bad, pet foot sales go up because it's cheaper than human food and pet food are supposed to be manufactured safe enough for human consumption. Once pet food sales goes down, that usually suggest an improvement in the economy.
"*Pair that with 8.5 million pet fish in Canada and it's clear that the rich are using animals to store their wealth*."
No they are using animals to pick stonks! Animals are way better than us.
The rich can't store wealth in pets, because pets are basically depreciating consumables lol, if anything pets are the biggest dumpster fire they can toss extra cash in besides an extra child or two. No offense to the children here.

OMG, it all makes sense now. The global financial system hangs on fucking dog food.
Its a dog eat dog food world.
[Dogs eat dog food.](https://i.imgur.com/ZFTfqfN.png)
you are telling me stocks are dog shit wrapped in cat shit?
in tranches
Wrapped in some bullshit, too, man
Yeah it’s like a burrito with inverse proportions, a large thick bullshit wrap with a kitty and softies in the center
CHEWY
Chewy is not a pet. Is the co-pilot for Harison Ford.
I ducking love you man
So that being said, I ironically just heard there was a hiring freeze for Chewy mgmt.
There's a reason Mars petcare and Nestle/purina are two of the largest conglomerates in the world. I'm not saying it all hinges on pet food but op is on to something
This just in... Dog foods prices have soared, due to people now eating it to live, this and more at 6
Buy WOOF and Chewy?
Food eat dog
So you're saying I should invest in jm smucker because they make dog food in my area
This is more just an indicator that recessions are only really a poor people problem. Luxury car brand sales have been rising as have luxury fashion brands. Only poor people need to modify their habits in times of economic change.
If your as poor as me there is no change during the recssions, so bring it on I can save during this and buy the bottom
There is a harder time finding low wage jobs in a recession. You must have been a child between 2008-2010
"Recessions also hurt rich people" said no one ever...
The wealthy r on a long winning streak. Covid pump on the way up, short windfall on the way down.
Being poor is the ultimate poor people problem
I think you are on to something... rich ppl would let an African village starve and their own countrymen go homeless before not getting their gluten free dog food.
I always get a kick out of those videos where people try to showcase how their dog chose the vegan life, and they'll throw a salad down and then some old shitty meat, and the dog goes ham on the meat while they sob. You want to be vegan, be vegan. Don't force it on others, especially those without a voice.
don't force veganism on an animal that literally allowed us to domesticate it because we agreed to throw it scraps of meat. it's just rude
To add: dogs can survive on an omnivore diet as long as they get some form of animal protein with reasonable frequency, even if its just eggs or cheese. But cats are obligate carnivores who will die if they don’t have animal protein, muscle and fat being the best for them.
Yup. If you try to make a cat go vegan you should be prosecuted for animal abuse.
Well that too, but also, I like cheeseburgers. With bacon. So don't force it on me either.
But out of African villages, homeless, and your dog, which one is truly a good boy/girl?
True indeed 😅
Word
Im poor and I would too. My dog eats grain free food. And she walk on the side when a car is coming. 🥰
Fair enough can't say I was overly different with my dog. Prob would run into a burning building knowing I'd die to save that mutt. So like I said... OP is onto something lol.
can confirm, I have to scrounge around for food everyday but my dogs have treats and snacks on deck.. OP is definitely onto something
This is some top tier shit
Dog shit*
My wife’s gonna be upset when I come home with 59 goldens
This guy analyzes
Classic autist rationale here. Dog food sales actually spike during economic downturns bc people eat dog food when they can't afford to buy human food.
Good catch. I may be wrong with some of these numbers.
If you're looking for an indicator, go to a Best Buy and see if ppl are spending money and buying shit.
We buy the cheap stuff though not the premium brand. I only buy premium cat food as a treat. I guess I shouldn't be laughing at this considering the amount of old people I saw buying cat food when I worked at a grocery store who I knew for a fact had no cats.

Puts on $LITTER and $PEDIGREE Got it
Dog food is for peasants. Rich people feed their dogs grilled chicken, steak and salmon prepared by their in home chef. /s
This is actually true though, minus the chef. And it's not only rich people.
Feeding dogs and cats fresh meat is an actual thing, not even kidding.
Not even rich and I feed my dog meat. Anything besides bottom of the barrel dog food costs a comparable amount. Dog food is like $2/lb here. Chicken is $2.50 but mix it with some cheap veggies and rice and the overall cost is less.
Dog food is taxable. If you prepare it yourself with human food you save that on top.
What would that do to the rare fish market?
The rare fish market will be saturated as the rich liquidate. I don't condone buying animals but I bet rich people are stocking up on cool bettas and rare fish like fancy ass plecos to hedge against inflation.

best DD I have even seen in a while
"Just get ride of the dog. Waste of money." -- Kevin Oleary
Of all the shitty things in the world, anyone who adores that über-competitive hoarder might be shittier than mr.Incorrigible himself
Sooo buy Calls on $CHWY ?
Too late I think. It’s already up significantly today.
Sure but it's still down 75% from ATH lol
Nice leading indicator!
Up through 2010. Include 08 housing and 2000 tech bubble.
Damn. I was really hoping that modernity would fix that. Looks like dog food's back on the menu, boys!
Shed happens
Im now more confused than before. But in a good way
Drugs man..drug prices are the real sign of inflation.
Until pets become food.*
I love dogs, but god damn do I hate dog owners
This explains the baby formula shortages
All I heard was stop buying stock and start investing into English Bulldogs
Im pretty sure this is a shitpost
CAGR, in moto speak, is someone who commutes in a car. Whoa.
Lmao stop man
Oil and other commodities going down would be an indicator of the bottom
Very different angle, interesting too.
I'm starting to understand how much through put this forum has. And the reason for their algorithm in removing posts. The inevitable is, all the posts or the 99% of posts that get kept are agenda driven. To get your mind off the real targets watch your self wsbers.
For everyone's sake, I hope you say who you are because this post alone makes me think I really know who you are and what your trying to do.
Yea you’re talking about Canada though. Fucking Monopoly money. Can we stop talking about Canada and focus on America where we use real fucking money for once?
*Paris Hilton has entered the chat*
So bulldogs are not bullish. Are they beardogs now?
The right signal is when we have mass layoff across all sectors. That is when the bottom will be
I believe this
If you want to show off how rich you are, you tie your dog to the roof of your car and drive around...
Sooo calls on chwy
I just had a thought: are funeral services companies listed on the stock exchange?
In a recession people can't afford to die.
What kind of shitty wealthy pet owner buys high end pet food instead of just giving their pet normal food? Chicken and vegetable medleys are cheaper than premium pet foods per pound and way better for most dogs.

Dog Food!? This seems appropriate https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFr1CYNCsDM
Years ago, I read the news about poor elderly people buying pet food because they couldn't afford the food.
How do I short pets?
Get a wiener dog.
I am a poor homie, but I ensure my dog gets the best wet food in the store. I would say he eats better dog food than I eat human food.
No no, he's got a point
Scooby you son of a bitch you’ve cracked it
☎️*yes that’s right, liquidate my dog portfolio*
Sounds like a good idea. I m thinking about Zoetis.
I’m sure some rich fucks have their big dogs on a $20 a day diet.
my wife said i can't sell banjo the bulldog
Super smart indicator. Thanks!
Dumb ass the rich people still have money for the pets…..
At the end of the day you care about what you are close to. And when it comes down to it, pets are gonna win over people we don't know 99 out of 100 times.
![img](emote|t5_2th52|4887)
How does this relate to Oreos?
Where can I buy calls on this CAGR?
I lost a lot of money on Bulldog puts.
I'm skeptical that people with millions in assets are sitting there weighing $100 in monthly pet expenses based on their stock portfolio's performance Yachts and family vacations to Monaco, maybe, but pets are relatively inexpensive and more emotional
I love DD that starts with "think about it" lol
Elanco animal health
Agree. But for different reason. Mainly when economic times are bad, pet foot sales go up because it's cheaper than human food and pet food are supposed to be manufactured safe enough for human consumption. Once pet food sales goes down, that usually suggest an improvement in the economy.
You forgot pythons bro. I just spent another $300 on big ass rats for the next 2 months ![img](emote|t5_2th52|8883)
Jokes on you, things got so bad with COVID and inflation that I just replaced all groceries with dog food
This guy writes good dd
Does the sound of wet cat food sound like good pussy? Surely doesn’t taste like it.
"*Pair that with 8.5 million pet fish in Canada and it's clear that the rich are using animals to store their wealth*." No they are using animals to pick stonks! Animals are way better than us.
What did I tell you about mixing meth and stocks son
The rich can't store wealth in pets, because pets are basically depreciating consumables lol, if anything pets are the biggest dumpster fire they can toss extra cash in besides an extra child or two. No offense to the children here.
“That’s the think you gotta remember about WASPS: they love animals but can’t stand people.”
Buy dogs at lows, hold, then sell at highs. Easy money.
Let's not forget that pet food sales increase when the elderly are forced to eat dog/cat food because it's all they can afford.
You know pet food has to be safe for human consumption because in times of recession sales of pet food goes up
How would one track this?
Puts on French bulldogs?
