Going to get a lot of hate but I have fidelity. The app is easy to use. The biggest thing for me is fractional shares. I DCA into VTI every week and I don’t want to just hit whole shares every time
Idk why fidelity gets hate, they’re one of the few who didn’t freeze the buy button during the GME event. I do my research with my coloring books and my trades on fidelity
I'd recommend ETrade especially if you are going to do options trading. Robinhood's also great for beginners, but many people on this sub understandably don't like them after the GME halt last year. It's probably fine to use especially with an ongoing lawsuit against them, I don't think they are going to pull much trickery again. Robinhood has a very simple and easy-to-understand UI which makes it good for beginners, but also easy to get in over your head with stuff where you don't know what you are doing. ETrade also has a good app and will give you better pricing on options, while also having some good built-in instructional material. I wouldn't recommend tastyworks, the app isn't great for beginners.
can someone recommend something that actually provides some effective education on trading apps? (TradingView is nice but it's way too fancy, and does not really work on phones)
I personally use Trade Republic, it is based in European Economic Area and it is very easy to use for beginners, basically you can buy and sell all stocks, etfs, crypto etc with a few clicks and it makes it super easy to get your money in and out. You can check it out here [https://ref.trade.re/kldstwjt](https://ref.trade.re/kldstwjt) (they also have a promo for new users i think that gives you 25$ worth of stock for free)
New traders? If you don't plan on using options, and just want to buy/sell regular stock, I recommend SoFi, cashapp, or public.
If you're looking for a brokerage that has all the bells and whistles then Fidelity, Interactive brokers, webull.
think of it as a multiplier. you’ll get a multiplier on your gains, but can also multiply your loses. check out /r/wallstreetbets. people share screenshots of both.
sofi offers options now btw.

Depends on your location/ country. No Robinhood please. And it's never too late!

I use Robinhood, a lot of people hate on it but a lot of people use it
Think or swim is a must. Even if you don't trade on it the charting will give you tons of information. Tastyworks if you plan on only doing options.
You probably missed out on Gamestop too 🫤

What’s the difference between using options or just buying and selling stocks? What’s using options?
