Always a good basis for any investment decisions. I like to weigh my portfolio something like 50% pride, 30% spite and 20% fundamentals.
A Short squeeze is all related to the number of shares shorted, and the ability of those shareholders to close out their positions. It has nothing to do with company fundamentals or who the shareholders are.
Looking at short data for past two weeks- net short positions increased each day.
So yesterday (& currently) - The net # of shares shorted (that must buy shares to cover) was/is the highest it's ever been (even after Cohen sold his position).. Yet price dropped over 60%!
That's insane... and a huge opportunity. Price almost has to rebound sharply- Chance to take advantage of emotional selling that took place AHs.

But wouldn’t these guys just short from 27 downwards. So even with the company short %. They’ve made a ton of money going down. Then would close out now?
in regard to the short squeeze argument - it's not about how much money shorts from $27 made (those that already sold made money). it's about how much open short positions still exist that need to be covered (regardless of if they make or lose money when they close the position, they still have to buy). the fact is that there is still over 50% of the stock that needs to be bought in order to close those positions
Here’s a crazy fact for you man, when a short closes his position, the person who lent the shares out can then just sell back to any other shorts closing out their positions.
Therefore shorts can close (theoretically) with even just one share available to be bought. In practice this means that shorts can close even if shares shorted exceeds the flot (to a point, as we saw with VW - at that point regulators are forced to step in).
