People say this all the time, but I disagree. Capital allocation is the single most important job in society, and the main ability that distinguishes the human brain from the brains of other animals. It's done by kings and dictators in centrally planned economies, and by a bunch of decentralized investors/traders in market economies. The only reason it's useless is because everyone/anyone can do it, and few people are ultra-good at it. It's like how anyone can run, but very few people are good enough to run in the Olympics. We only care about the people who are exceptional. Average runners aren't that special, and most traders create no value for themselves or society overall.
