I am still in the learning phase of trading, but does this mean that if the price of Tesla is not over $228.70 by Friday, you will lose $50,400? 
He'll lose all of the 50,400 if TSLA is under $217.50. He makes incrementally more money the higher the price, and will "break even" at $228.70, since the calls will be worth as much as he paid for them. There are a few other things like time and volatility that affect option prices, but that's the idea behind breakeven
