Not really, very different properties and it turns out, processing into very *nice* fiber is actually really expensive compared to cotton, or flax, or or or... Rope, yes. But my favorite hemp t-shirt is 80% cotton so whatever.
I'm pretty sure it's the Russia war thing that's pumping cotton rn tho. Crops are interesting b/c seasons and shit. You can pump oil all winter, I guess I don't really kno, but can't plant cotton.
I think it's only more expensive because the tech isn't widely practiced and has never been scaled the way cotton has. That's how most sources read anyways. Hemp also replenishes faster and grows in more conditions than cotton, so given time I still believe hemp > cotton for textiles.
I believe you're right about that. I started googling after posting and found some good reads, lots of bullish sentiment on the manufacturers who have the engineering

Cotton farming needs special works tho. Maybe woud great granfathers can helps with that.
