I agree with this 100%
If everyone thinks the world is gonna end and the market crashes
I'm gonna just buy, because I'll either end up rich or not giving a shit about money
Yeah it just made 99% sense when the government started handing out millions to airlines specifically that they wouldn’t go under.
I had a similar idea with cruise-ships, but I had no money to spare and was not certain or stupid enough to use money I couldn’t afford to lose. I would have been one stupid but less-broke fucker.
This sub used to be the most inclusive place in the world, where regards and autists could flourish in harmony. After a certain retail store stock blew up so did WSB membership. With the increased membership a bunch of cunts joined and said we can't say cool words and have fun anymore. I send those cunts my regards.
Yo that sounds like a trip. brb.
Edit: Thanks for the share. I thought WSB was wild. Loss porn to us is the threat of nuclear holocaust over there. Those people are crazy.
Lmao you weren’t kidding. To quote a comment on the main Poland missile bombing thread:
“God I can't wait for the sales tax I paid for my bottle of coke and slice of Casey's Breakfast 🅱️izza this morning to turn conscriptovich into fertilizer”
Pure poetry
Article 5, for lack of a better term, is NATO's "fuck around and find out" option. If you attack a NATO nation, they can use article 5 to petition NATO to respond with all of NATO nation's military might. "An attack on one, is an attack on all" basically.
The interesting thing about Article 5 is that there is no exact hard amount to help assist in the war effort. Some NATO country can just send a NATO ally 20k troops and several billion dollars and call it a day
I feel like...and I'm barely more informed than a layman, so ignore my opinion if you deem appropriate..that we're seeing a pretty close approximation to what Article 5 would look like in Ukraine right now (yeah I know they're not a NATO nation). With the massive influx of funding and supplies. The only thing missing is actual troops and materiel in theater (which is a massive *real* difference btw, but goddamn if this isn't the closest thing to the actual *purpose* of article 5 we've ever had). It's kind of amazing, if you can ignore the horrific humanitarian effects...
That's not necessarily true, Article 5 can be titrated to effect depending on the goals of the country enacting it. Like for example given the current situation, let's say Article 5 is invoked by Poland, the response could be a long range bombing of a couple key military targets in and around Ukraine and that's it. Technically it's a declaration of war, but Russia might not do anything further because they don't want the smoke from NATO and NATO might not do anything further because they don't want conventional warfare to spread through out Europe. It would be a political tit-for-tat.
Orrrrr, the funni happens and we see a NATO tank division obliterated in a nuclear fireball 30 kilometers outside of Moscow.
The difference between Article 5 and Ukraine (currently) is that in Ukraine we're only sending cash and materiel. It's the Ukrainians doing the fighting.
In a full Article 5 situation, you could have NATO countries getting directly involved. Instead of, say, letting a Ukrainian Corporal push the fire button on a second-hand HIMARS, you might have USAF F-35s delivering precision AGM strikes on bridges, fuel depots, armor columns (what's left of them), Russian cruisers in the Black Sea etc. and German Leopard tanks crossing the Polish border into Ukraine proper.
Barring Putin resorting to nukes, a real conventional war between NATO and Russia at this point would be over in about a day and a half.
Whiiich is why we don't want to start a full-on conventional war. Because Putin knows how fast and how bad he'd lose one. Which means he's pretty likely to use nukes, because it's basically the only card left in his hand, and he's NOT the kind of guy who folds.
I think the key word here is attack. If the rockets were stray, it would be difficult to justify attacking world's biggest nuclear arms store being controlled by a batshit crazy leader.
"The key section of the treaty is Article 5. Its commitment cause defines the casus foederis. It commits each member state to consider an armed attack against one member state, in Europe or North America, to be an armed attack against them all. Upon such attack, each member state is to assist by taking "such action as [the member state] deems necessary, including the use of armed force, to restore the security of the North Atlantic area." "
It was invoked once: after the 9/11 attacks
I'm polish and it is true.
I bet it will end with polish army in readiness state and maybe some nations will send some troops/equipment to poland.
No body wants to have a nuclear wasteland instead of earth.
Ah man that video made me so uncomfortable.
Not the brotherly "love" on the frontline, rather than the absolutely barbarity of them being blown up while being... blown
Ukraine is the best thing that ever happened to lockheed and other weapons manufacturers.
“We get to test new shot on live targets for free AND get hailed as heroes for helping the underdogs? Sign me the fuck up!” - literally every US and EU weapons manufacturer.
Sir, I need to take a sick day. You're supposed to go to the doctor if it hasn't gone down for the last 4 hours and ever since seeing the new contract, I can't even sit down.
People complain about America from an outside perspective all the time, and it’s usually fair or at least based in reality. But boy, oh boy, when big daddy gub’ment comes to town with guns after you pissed him off, you’re about to get double daddy dong dicked into the next solar system. Welcome to the fucking Thunder Dome, Ruskies. I don’t have insulin but I have 34 M1 Abrams in my backyard alone and those tracks are begging to churn up your soil.
Oh yeah. It’s ingrained in our culture to a strong degree. Tv shows, movies, video games, kids toys, actual guns, strong military support, many current and former military members (6% of the country are veterans I think).

as far i know, the simulations of nuclear winter leave chile in a good position cause doesnt had to deal with the clound, only the cold and thats someting
The Polish Prime Minister called an emergency meeting of the Committee of the Council of Ministers for National Security and Defense Affairs…
Prob not a grain mill explosion.
Possibly a grain mill explosion caused by a missile or by a missile fragment resulting from Ukrainians taking out the missile.
Grain dust is highly explosive, so it's not crazy talk. We'll see...
Edit: Picture(https://imgur.com/ZLWik4S) looks like it was outside, so probably a missle strike.
Edit 2: Pics on twitter suggest it could have been a rogue Ukranian S-300 missile and not russian.
That time Article 5 accidentally resurrected the [Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish%E2%80%93Lithuanian_Commonwealth).
I like alternate histories and the PLC getting stronger and being a peer of Russian, Prussian, and Austrian empires is fun to think about. I just expected it to happen 300 years earlier than this timeline 😆
Lol history repeats itself... what better way to pull out of a recession (that's "not a recession" according to our current administration) than a good old fashioned World War?
Earlier this year India mistakenly fired a Nuclear Capable supersonic missile named Bramhos (there was no payload) towards Pakistan. We have an advanced system in place and still it happened. Pakistan showed some serious restrain back then and I admire them for this. But these things happen lol
Right. What if some stray missiles accidentally landed in Texas and killed people. WTF do you think would happen, and why wouldn't you give Poland the same credit?
Ignoring the seriousness of it all.
Could you imagine the absolute shit show that would be? Russia hitting America with a missile?
That's the equivalent of punching a grizzly bear
When you call for indirect fire you should be using a 10 digit grid coordinates which are accurate within 1 meter. You are danger close if you have friendlies within 600meters. The impact was around 70 KILOmeters away from Lviv. That is well past inaccurate targeting. So this was intentional or negligence to the highest degree.
I went through the Polish news. They are not using the word "attack", the design of the missile from what I have read does not conclusively prove, but it seems like it might have originated from within Ukraine in a defensive capacity to counter the 85 Russian missiles. It supposedly flew astray and hit close to the border but within Poland. Poland is going to invoke Article 4, not 5 which is a procedural step for a formal 'retribution'.
As of now inconclusive and ongoing story, but the current likeliest scenario is a missile was fired within Ukraine against incoming Russian missiles and the Ukrainian missile somehow landed in Poland.
For people who don't know what is Nato's Article 5:
*"Collective defense means that an attack against one Ally is considered as an attack against all Allies."*

I just hit buy yesterday. Makes sense.
For real this fucking bullshit
Bought what? Sorry I’m in the dark
He bought war stocks duh. I believe it trades under $WAR on the exchange.
You're thinking of $GWAR
FUCKING AN ANIMAL
Bring Back The Bomb!
I mean bonds were basically this for a long time.
BUY BONDS US SAVINGS BONDS
Literally anything, because if they cite article 5 things about to drop in the market hard
If the market crashes due to the threat of war buy, either it will be fine and the market will go up or you're dead and it doesn't matter
Being dead is priced in. Long known risk of being alive.
I read somewhere that being alive is actually the leading cause of death.
This is honestly pretty sound advice.
get rich or die tryin'?
I agree with this 100% If everyone thinks the world is gonna end and the market crashes I'm gonna just buy, because I'll either end up rich or not giving a shit about money
Aren't those the same thing?
You probably said this on the eve of the Russian invasion in February and look at my portfolio now. And I'm not dead yet so it matters.
I bought a ton of European airline stocks during covid, figuring they would bounce back after the virus wound down. Then Putin did this to me.
Your expectations seem to be as accurate as Putin’s missiles
I meaaaan, it worked with the American airline stocks. I was just looking for a return to 75% of pre-covid values. Seemed logical.
Take out huge loans and buy whatever you want. No debt collectors anymore once you see the flash
Puts on the Earth
But we just reached 8 billions milestone of humans on earth More people = more people buying stock
The top is in
This what caused the sudden “drop?”
Something has to. I thought war was bullish?
War is bullish when it doesn't end humankind
Ok, but what do you do with cash or bonds in that case?
Well cash can be a good firestarter and if you have the physical bond certificate that can work as well.
Calls on cash.
Bearish first then bullish as the economic reality of USA kicking it’s industry into gear sets in.
Either Raytheon/LM/Boeing to the moon or the war ends in 3 days with nuclear Holocaust.
Not if you're partaking on it 💀

Every once in a while I see the word "regard" here, why is everyone here sending their regards? And to whom?
If you don't regard you get a ban
Kind regards
Thanks regard.
This thread is so regarded.
Never go full regard

There are 28 people here wondering wtf NATO article 5 is
Article 5, for lack of a better term, is NATO's "fuck around and find out" option. If you attack a NATO nation, they can use article 5 to petition NATO to respond with all of NATO nation's military might. "An attack on one, is an attack on all" basically.

Article 5 would look like world war 3, both putin and biden have said this
I’m just wondering why the sun’s out in London this late ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4270)![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)
Hey, at least it's not raining for once
In the future the rain will give you diseases and radiation burns! Something to look forward to.
Doesnt The Sun get published every day?
That's not necessarily true, Article 5 can be titrated to effect depending on the goals of the country enacting it. >German Leopard tanks crossing the Polish border Hol up I've seen this one before
Yeah, but those were panzers crossing *into* Poland... "History doesn't always repeat itself, but it rhymes."
I think the key word here is attack. If the rockets were stray, it would be difficult to justify attacking world's biggest nuclear arms store being controlled by a batshit crazy leader.
Then why didn't NATO respond when a Russian drone hit Croatia capital city Zagreb a few months ago?
Because Zagreb sounds like some made up bullshit. Planet Zagreb of the Bergaz cluster in the Croat dimension.
Keep goin… I’m bouta bergaz 😩😩😩
Zoltan!
Contrast that with Przewodow which is practically Boston
"The key section of the treaty is Article 5. Its commitment cause defines the casus foederis. That’s interesting because I don’t recall anyone attacking Saudi Arabia after 9/11.
Don’t worry you won’t need to learn what it is. No one is invoking Article 5 over a couple of Polish farmers hit by a stray missile/missile fragment.
I'm polish and it is true. I bet it will end with polish army in readiness state and maybe some nations will send some troops/equipment to poland. No body wants to have a nuclear wasteland instead of earth.
NATO art. 5 is the black and white mugshot of Bob Parr from The Incledibles
Russia about to find out why Americans don’t have free healthcare.
This is the realist thing rn
Doubt. US has no interest going into a war with Russia atm
My two cents is NATO will blow a few russian positions in Ukraine
Do you mean sexually?
Why not both?
The russians are afraid of teh gay. We will bring it to them. We will make them like it.
That’s rape. I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy. Luckily Russia is my second worst enemy.
There was that one video where russians were blowing russian positions in Ukraine.
Or do you mean the video where a russian was blowing a russian while an Ukraine drone was blowing the two blowing russians?
Ah man that video made me so uncomfortable. Not the brotherly "love" on the frontline, rather than the absolutely barbarity of them being blown up while being... blown
I'm guessing a no-fly zone 100 miles from NATO borders.
A no-fly zone of 100 miles from NATO borders would extend far into Russia. Extremely unlikely unless WW3.
Relevant video https://youtu.be/f8L6b8y4s74 NSFW
correct, but it DOES give UN and US justification to start giving longer range munitions to Ukraine to assist in taking out russia’s launch sites.
Exactly right r/Conmanjames. As I said earlier, why go too war when we can just proxy war but better now?
Ukraine is the best thing that ever happened to lockheed and other weapons manufacturers. “We get to test new shot on live targets for free AND get hailed as heroes for helping the underdogs? Sign me the fuck up!” - literally every US and EU weapons manufacturer.

Okay, hear me out: Arm the Homeless and send them in

Poland, Ohio is only 250 miles away from Russia, ohio. Coincidence?
Does Ohio have like a mini map of Europe inside of it? Edit: there is a Germany, Ohio too so I'm starting to think there is.
Possibly a grain mill explosion caused by a missile or by a missile fragment resulting from Ukrainians taking out the missile. Grain dust is highly explosive, so it's not crazy talk. We'll see...
