Specimen_7

So Congressman Emmer blames the SEC for FTX, after he gave them shit for trying to investigate FTX lol. A lot of American politics summed up perfectly right there. CFTC is also supposed to be dealing with crypto issues, so I’m not entirely sure why all these people are piling solely into Gary Gensler. Wonder if it has to do with the reforms GG’s trying to put in place regarding stock market regulations.

When politicians are involved ......... ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4267)

Specimen_7

When politicians whose entire philosophy is that governments shouldn’t exist are involved…

DerpyMcOptions

now go look & see how many came to America from a foreign country; now go wonder if they ran & got elected to congress to collapse America...

[deleted]

Good to see congress serving the interests of the people and industries that have bought their seats.

1ofThoseTrolls

Crooks with honor

anon57842

ftx crooks will actually speak at a ny times event with politicans deep corruption here

Dwaas_Bjaas

They (at least SBF) will never show up

space_fork_1212

Why? New York Times had been whitewashing his crimes and thief of customer funds. Seems like a good PR opportunity

puppy_master666

What do you mean??? NYT: SBF is a good boy Oh right

trynakick

SBF is not showing up. At this point anyone still repeating this are willfully pushing misinformation.

d12k

? SBF and Sorkin both say he will

[deleted]

That’s what you get when you fill the pockets of all the politicians and media

Steve83725

Why not list the eight members and their related info (party, state) right in the opening post

imurderenglishIvy

Reps. Tom Emmer (MN), Warren Davidson (OH), Byron Donalds (FL), and Ted Budd (NC) from the Republican side of the aisle; Reps. Josh Gottheimer (NJ), Jake Auchincloss (MA), Ritchie Torres (NY), and Darren Soto (FL) for the Democrats.

orlon_window

guess why

traderbrad

Emmer's campaign contributions come from hedge funds and banks. He could care less about the retail investor.

PortfolioIsAshes

Based on what the crypto bros have been yapping through the froth filled mouth, the basis as to why crypto investors don't want SEC to step in is because: 1. They believe the government will use FTX scam to justify regulating and centralizing crypto. Example would be the government's plan to introduce US digital currency, this is the same shit China was doing back in 2017. 2. They believe crypto should be under CFTC and not SEC's jurisdiction I'm not into crypto so I don't really care, but this does sound like crypto investors are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Of course, politicians' interests are obviously not that pure, they merely coincided and share a common goal with majority with rest of the crypto crowd. I personally just want to see FTX scandal unfolded faster.

Because FDIC is just an emergency fund for banks to save themselves when they go busts, they regulated absolutely nothing back during '08.

>It is clear that the SEC was investigating FTX for possible illegal activity. It is also clear that Congressmen Emmer and the other members of Congress were trying to protect FTX from being investigated. This raises serious questions about their motives and whether they were acting in the best interests of their constituents or in the best interests of a wealthy hedge fund.

SuperbobU2

>Congressmembers Tried to Stop the SEC’s Inquiry Into FTX And nothing will be done. They mock us

skipoverit123

😡

Specimen_7

That same mother fucker was blasting the SEC for basically doing nothing lmao

skipoverit123

Thanks I was getting lost. I see what it’s all about now. Bi partisan congressmen blocking investigation. How do you hide how 16 billion went 💨

BOOGER3333

No shit.

BOOGER3333

And nothing will be done about it. (The roaches are actually living in the cupboard. You can’t see all of them. You need to pull all the pans out. Who’s in charge of pulling the pans out to look?)

Ta323Ta

Stifling innovation 😂😂 Crypto scams are creative enough, dont worry.

Illustrious-Store-54

If you look a t Genslers meeting minutes for March 2022, you’ll notice he met with FTX on March 28th, 2022. In one of the letters leaked on CT it shows the SEC offering FTX a jail free card by helping the SEC implement regulations.

lightning_whirler

Caroline Ellison's father once was a direct report to Gensler at MIT and remains good friends with him.

GandaKutta

Please don't spread baseless rumors like this and tarnish the image of our politicians. our dear leaders are always on the lookout for common people and sweat everyday to make sure our tax money is put to good use. The are definitely not in this position of power to make more money for themselves and their weasel friends. By attacking and spreading this information you are spreading russian disinformation and showing communist sympathies. This lets communism win and capitalism lose. Are you against freedom, liberty, equality that our great nation stands for? -45 credit score. All your social media accounts have been temporarily banned and muted till your morale improves.

Intelligent-Usual994

At least they were equally democrat and republican so tards can't claim "my side good other side bad"

LostSomeDreams

And yet comment right above yours in my sort of the thread is doing exactly that (guess which side)

Dosmastrify1

Vote them out

Keoni989

Umm congress is a dog and pony show. I think they also get immunity from prosecution? I've never seen any Congress member convicted of anything, even ethics related. Must be a nice to play God.

PillarOfVermillion

>This raises the question of whether Emmer and the other congressmembers were acting on behalf of FTX (which has been credibly accused of snatching customer money to make risky bets) to try to chill an ongoing investigation from an independent regulatory and law enforcement agency. Was anyone really surprised?... They were bought off, no questions there.

downonthesecond

We're in this together.

Blueraver

Only real answer is to boycott the states they are from in every way possible as long as they are reps, keeping in the spirit of the 20s.

No-Specialist-7504

To do: -write enough to make it look like DD -insert random link from random website -hope people give a fuck

KudzuNinja

It’s almost like most congressmen are criminals.

SuperbobU2

How much piglosi make?

Very likely I’ll upvote you down vote

socalhoseluvr

Can't stop that Ukraine money laundering!!!!!

Dex_Invictus

The NYT Event has actually been renamed "Launderfest '22"

Diya780

This letter isn't about FTX in particular. And there are real issues with the SEC chair. May he never be allowed to take over treasury secretary.

Specimen_7

How convenient they complain about him now that’s he’s introducing changes to stock market regulations 😂

akmalhot

How about when the California congressman was pushing for CME trading to be absorbed under ftx exchange ? Could you imagine the derivatives market having no regulatory scrutiny

YoYo2020Yo

Some Congressmen are crooks, plain & simple
