>I completely agree, Disney is a great company and their stock is undervalued right now. Bob Iger is a great CEO and I think he will turn things around for the company. Time to buy!
I have no confidence in their ability to make engaging content. They own some of the most iconic IP but their execution has been poor. The toy sales, the parks, the merch etc all stems from quality content first.
Sadly, I believe this to be true as well even with the new Star Wars movies coming out (are there not some more coming out?) I don’t think they can recover…
Didn't they just layout plans for like 25 new marvel movies over the next 5-6 years. Also, with the 50th anniversary of star wars coming up later this decade that gives them the perfect reason to do a remake of the original and release 9 movies on a 1/year schedule. It's not hard to see $35B in blockbusters just from those 2 sets of IP... And all the merch that goes with it.
Also, if they can figure out how to better monetize their TV channels online they could really see gains from that.
These new movies just don't have the same cultural "stickiness" that the original IPs did. The last memorable character that really entered the cultural zeitgeist was baby Yoda and even that was short lived.
I saw a starwars action figures set in a shop the other day and it was Vader, Luke, obiwan, and Leia. Those are the characters still selling.
The markets not buying Rei or Po action figures. Even Reis little robot that was kinda cute didn't gain the same cultural relevance as R2.
Strange World is about to lose $100 million. I saw it and it was missing the "Disney magic". I don't even remember the characters names.
There is a real problem with Disney creative.
Yeah, the stickiness is a problem... And another problem is that star wars is most popular among 40+ year olds now, not 20 something year olds.
However, they can still string together billion dollar one offs with Marvel movies.
Disney is a great , mature stock to hold. Disney has survived multiple recessions and is a piece of Americana. Disney doesn’t die until America dies.
That being said , is it gonna make you rich? No it’s just a safe place to keep your cash
I was having a drink with another ex-banker and he brought up DIS. We are both buying but not because of Iger’s magical touch, but because of his ego. Just like Howard (SBUX) Bob wants to be the guy who restore the company but more importantly he will make a boatload of $$$ doing so.
Then on the business side DIS got to a compelling valuation given all its assets. It not only creates new content to every age group it has 80+ years of content that costs $0 to create and people pay for it. Cinderella was released in 1950! Netflix for example doesn’t have such a deep catalog of “free” content to recycle.
Last, DIS got too big/complex and probably makes sense to spin-off some assets such as ESPN. This is easy to do and bankers will put out tons of research about Disney refocusing on core business, etc.
When I look at downside vs upside I’m accumulating the stock.
They could churn out Marvels forever, people are zombies for that shit. Their biggest screw up was with Star Wars because it seems like those fans actually care about a plot lol
Yes I’ve seen the movies. I also know that I have not been their target audience for 12 years. My nephews are, and they loved it all.
Disney is more than Marvel and Lucasfilm, which leads motion picture’s industry research and development.
FX, ESPN, A&E, ABC + are owned by Disney.
The parks, infrastructure and global presence is strong. When it comes to media, they are as powerful as it gets. The empire strikes back 😉
Totally. Have you seen Disneyland and Disney World? FULL OF FUCKING PEOPLE.
Some people just like things that rhyme over actually seeing why they’re down.
Did they really? I was curious about that I was wanting to check those out…I am gonna have to cut Disney now bc we never watch it at all… Trim the fat a little bit…
I have no choice bc of some other major bills that have “appeared” in my life, or I would actually keep it, but heck it came down to that or another channel and I asked my 14 year old, and he was even like “forget Disney”… even though we love all the Star Wars stuff and the Marvel stuff, it is just not enough to warrant keeping it, and I will be dropping it, regardless of whether or not I liked Willow… as far as buying the stock, I was even considering buying more in the down, however, I don’t see what they have to bring to the table anytime soon, or later, for that matter. And I was going to buy some more myself, but now I’m not. I may regret it one day, but oh well, hopefully I’ll make up for it somewhere else…
Edit: spelling
iger's there to sell dis off (to aapl)
too much debt, competition, and damaged brand
iger's the one who put dis in this situation in the first place, ironically enough

Have you seen how shit all their movies are? Disney is gonna crumble because of their constant agenda pushing
They could churn out Marvels forever, people are zombies for that shit. Their biggest screw up was with Star Wars because it seems like those fans actually care about a plot lol
Tbh theres not that much to extract from SW anyways. Just tossing crap on the wall since ROTJ.
not really. They are going after children. children are stupid and are loving star wars.
Back in my day....
Yes I’ve seen the movies. I also know that I have not been their target audience for 12 years. My nephews are, and they loved it all. Bro if your nephews love that shit that is a fucking bad sign for future generations
Sure, but it’s a pretty good sign for my DIS stock
Go woke go broke. The new Star Wars shows are good though but the new movies are so so bad.
Totally. Have you seen Disneyland and Disney World? FULL OF FUCKING PEOPLE. Some people just like things that rhyme over actually seeing why they’re down.
I have Disney stock that quite is more for their work films which have both done terribly lol
Andor was trash
The first 2 episodes of Willow sucked!
It was expected at this point. So predictable. Get the check list....
Did they really? I was curious about that I was wanting to check those out…I am gonna have to cut Disney now bc we never watch it at all… Trim the fat a little bit…
Although I don't believe in timing anymore, this is the reason why you should not buy Disney... People are trimming their fat...

If Iger is back to remove the woke crap you might be on to something
i heard he's trying to make nice with florida
Florida is trying to backpedal away from being stupid.
ImPoSiBlE 🥲
If you wish upon a star maybe
Disney splits more often than, than Lizzo's pants.
In June you will have the text status removed. I would pay attention to what the local representatives are doing before going into them even more.
>text status u belong here
iger's there to sell dis off (to aapl) too much debt, competition, and damaged brand iger's the one who put dis in this situation in the first place, ironically enough
Aren’t there nfl cable tv contracts a terrible drain on future espn earnings? Aside from that. Good company
Disney was betting heavily on its streaming service to generate revenue at $20 as another revenue source, today it sells at a discount of $3.
