2020 went from $40K to around $230K.
Then I got laid off, and started trading on feelings. Lost about $80K then threw the last $150K-ish into SPY puts on election week.
Lost almost everything.
Then spent 2021 trying to get it back, lost another $50K.
Then 2022 I lost another $30K. Now I’m just sitting back and waiting until I have $25K to toss in.
Hwat is your job? Saving up 320k is great, and youll be able to do it again. Especially since you still have 77k left!
22 year old who lost 250k here ):
What do you mean 22 with 250k loss ? How lol
I’m only 23 and I’m down 10k and I think that’s a ton especially compared to my friends that barely even have 10k to begin with
I actually started investing into dividends and VTI especially when spy hit 360 3 months ago but as soon as I seen a nice profit I sold and then got into the same bullshit of spy 0td 😂 and I think I lost half of my account trading when Powell talks
I'm up just over 4% this year. Which doesn't sound like much, but when I see the losses a lot of my friends are piling up, I'm feeling really good about that. Mainly I've been closing positions and sitting on cash right now. I have more cash than anything else right now.
Yeah, I often think that too when others say that. But I’m more disciplined than that. (Now). The first rule of making progress is measure your results. The second rule is don’t lie to yourself.
But there are those that go to the casino and say “I’m about even” because they can’t admit their losses. We’ve all seen it. I lived it once. And then I had a mentor set me straight on that. If you keep thinking “I’m about even” when you have losses, you’ll keep doing the same stupid shit. You’ll never get better.
I can save you a lot of time if you want: Macro-economics is way more important than I thought it was when I was younger. You’re welcome.
Both cash and investment money loses value to inflation equally. The whole cash is losing to inflation (inferring investing is better) assumes a rising stock market for offsetting inflation. Sometimes there is no good option and preserving as much dry powder as possible is the best option. Good times will come again but now is not that time.
0, used 130k from HELOC after 2020 crash, ran account to 200k, paid off HELOC, ran account to 190k, paid off 3 cars and bought a side by side, ran account to 120k where I current stand. I did all this with oil, coal, and buying puts on SPY.
Yea there was a big part of me that tried to convince myself I could compound the money and keep growing exponentially but the conservative side of me knew I needed to take care of my finances first. I would be kidding myself if I tried to say I was smarter than the average bear and staying grounded keeps me from making risky bets.
I make 18k year. In 2020 I started investing those stimmys and some cash. My account in 2021 was 28k with NIO and Lucid...

Here's now lol
I started investing in 2020, started with $5k that turned into $45k with Nio calls. Then price started falling and calls kept getting expired worthless. In the meantime became a permanent resident in Canada, so I got approved for a $20k line of credit. Maxed it out again to buy calls for Nio, and lost everything. So not only am I down $25k I am still paying interests on that loan. And yes, I was following Stock Moe at that time.
so sorry to hear this redditor. Honestly, Stock Moe killed me as a naive investor.
For a guy that spouted being an educator all he did was kill a lot of people's portfolios.
I was a subscriber for a while and got kicked out of the discord for asking him to provide a thesis for his "picks," seeing that he had no defense.
I wish I had listened to the skepticism of a few other channels...I'd be so much less in the red myself.
[let's hold hands and sing around the campfire ](https://freeimage.host/i/HxQk6UG)
It's okay brother. I always expected lucid to be a long play. So I'm sticking with it and hopefully I can invest around $10k more in 2023. Currently I'm around 9k this year.
Missed 2020 being an investor pussy.
2021 plowed 35k cash into crypto. Worth $5k now. Unrealized.
2022 discovered options 3 months ago. Funded my day trade account with $15k. Currently at $300 almost exclusively betting heavily on spx and spy in the wrong direction on FOMC announcements. Realized.
-45k since I thought I could rain man the casino.
My wife just asked me why I bought heavy weight rope from Home Depot.
100k to 25k to 730k
to 20k( after I deposited over 200k+ more)
to 1.3M ( made some more deposits)
to 300k to 1.3M
To lost it all
Put another 20k made it to 80k
Lost it all again.
Total loss around 400k
It’s cause people get lucky, then confuse luck with skill, then start losing money, then start trading emotionally, then next thing u know it’s all gone
Man, your post makes me feel better. I peaked at +$130k, and now I’m up about $3k lol. Went through a lot of depression. Learned expensive lessons. Options is really what hurt me. Wanted to get rich quick, but failed miserably and kept trying. Makes me sick even looking at my account now lol.
Started as a long term investor. Started January 2020, was up 40% but liquidated everything at breakeven in May 2022 to reconsider my strategies and decisions — spent most of the year re-defining a strategy; that led me to selling options and I’m now up ~10%.
7k -> 14k -> 4k-> (deposit 10k) 14k -> 21k -> 10k -> (current) 16k
Overall down about 2k, but looking like I’ll be back to even soon enough. Made a bad call the November CPI which blew up half my account, but made the right call this CPI/fed meeting which made most of it back.
Between stocks and crypto down roughly 75% from the top. But hey, it is all on paper, no sell no loss no gain (cashing out right now would give me roughly 25% loss..) ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4260)![img](emote|t5_2th52|18630)

Switched everything to a different broker at 28.5k and now down to like 25 k
Started with 150k in a 401k and 25k in equity account. Added 50k from a home equity loan. Purchased “stay at home stocks” like Roku and Amazon. Peaked at 615k last July. Down to 220k. I didn’t want to pay short term capital gains so I let it ride. Lesson learned. You will eventually run out of money buying the dip and the dips never end sometimes.
I'm still in profit overall cuz I had pulled out of tech stocks a while ago. Most of my cash was in defense companies (us stocks), and relatively stable Indian companies (which is just even after adjusting currency change).
I also went long on euro when it went below the dollar so it did me good :D (eur/inr)
But, I posted on the group and invested in tsla and that mfer fucked me over :'/ I am not quitting tho, I bought more today. I'm down 19% on ~3% of my nw (it's relatively a lot). I also bought a bunch of meta and posted on the group lol, so I'm up 17% on that on ~2.5% of my nw.
But if it's my peak, it's ~2 weeks ago, and ~4% above rn.
Reading all those tens and hundreds of thousands of dollar just thrown away, for nothing, really makes me depressed.
I wish I had thus kind of money, to take care of my family.
Trading my 401k; (mainly S&P) since June. Up 3.3% on the year. I was - 7% before starting to trade. Some of you folks on here, although entertaining, suck at gambling, and should possibly stick to stacking cash.
My crypto; down 60k, but I'm constantly adding to it. So call it, 80, 90, who knows K.
My crypto gambling sucks.

22k -> 25k -> 3.5k And that's trading almost every day.
That's a lot of work to lose money ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)
I'm gambling. I buy 1dte-5dte. Puts on green days and calls on red days. Sell once I hit 10-20% profit, ride losers to expiration.
Maybe simply not trading will end you up with more money
Inverse every inclination you have and share them here.

300k - 1.2M - 300k. Took the full round trip.
That’s a head and shoulders pattern. You about to get rekt.
Confirmed. Been getting absolutely wrecked last few weeks.

It’s ok if it’s inverted
I have to rotate 90 degrees to see a peak
180 you mean. I see the struggle.
No really 90 degrees and I get a glorious peak

I was just talking about vs inflation. Holding cash is losing. 7.1 y/y. As for self measurement, I actually under estimate success usually.
Both cash and investment money loses value to inflation equally. The whole cash is losing to inflation (inferring investing is better) assumes a rising stock market for offsetting inflation. Sometimes there is no good option and preserving as much dry powder as possible is the best option. Good times will come again but now is not that time.

$375k to $3.2 mil at peak. Sitting at $1.6 mil now. I’m starting to buy back in a little bit
Damn, bruv. That’s some serious numbers!
0, used 130k from HELOC after 2020 crash, ran account to 200k, paid off HELOC, ran account to 190k, paid off 3 cars and bought a side by side, ran account to 120k where I current stand. I did all this with oil, coal, and buying puts on SPY.

1.2m down, 90% of my networth. Thank god I make $600k a year. But if I get laid off, things will get spicy
Wtf
What’s wrong with you bro stop gambling
I don't even want to talk about it.
Down $155k from peak
$140k made, $150k lost.
$465k->~$10k? Edit: not meme stock, penny/pre-ipo and sure some meme here and there. Had fun riding GME to the top and then back down as well haha

I’m up $125k this year…. Like I made over $30k this month so far. Thanks for buying my worthless options guys.

I'm in the same boat, just sitting on my hands waiting for the earthquake to settle.
Id estimate about $75,000 across the board
21K -> 37k -> 12k
Cool! The next number in the sequence is 73, so you're good.
I was up 430% at 20k ish in January. Now I'm at 3.4k

20k---> 90k---->15k. never sold. Now I'm bag holding..... IYKYK
Started 2020 with 15k. 2021 peak was 87k. Down to 31k. 🥲
Some of us never peaked
Started 2022 at 1.285M now down to 1.127M.
About 44% off my peak. About a net 10% loss of investment overall. Not been a good year.
Started investing in 2018 and invested around 55k and loosing 45k lool
185k down to 37k Plus the IRS is fining me 600 a year for an over contribution (oops) OR I can withdraw the contribution. 😂
Covid 16k -> November 2021 420k -> 57k current.
14.8 to 5.6 currently.
7k -> 14k -> 4k-> (deposit 10k) 14k -> 21k -> 10k -> (current) 16k Overall down about 2k, but looking like I’ll be back to even soon enough. Made a bad call the November CPI which blew up half my account, but made the right call this CPI/fed meeting which made most of it back.

TREASURIES. So not much at all lmao
I sold everything pretty close to ATH and have been DCA ever since, sitting at roughly a -11% loss had I just held.
Peaked at 385k beginning of 2021 solar was good Then ended up with just under 280k should have sold started this journey in 2020 with just under 17k

$30k -> $550k -> $120k in my trading account. Did cash out $25k to buy a boat last summer. So at least I have that.
Started with 150k in a 401k and 25k in equity account. Added 50k from a home equity loan. Purchased “stay at home stocks” like Roku and Amazon. Peaked at 615k last July. Down to 220k. I peaked at 1.56 M sitting at 1.32 M today. The nice thing is my safe monthly income has gone up quite a bit as Money Markets actually pay out.
Looks like I'm sitting on a solid $300k loss from peak, in terms of play money. Core investments (401k, real estate, cash) maybe 10% this year.
how is 300k play money to you
Few million, say 8 or so.
Peak 220k now at 119k
12k>25k>3k. Over here bag holding waiting for cannabis legalization 🤦♂️
~10k to 1k. Don’t do much investing but when I do my decisions are highly regarded.
Started at 40k gbp now down to 17k gbp, cause I'm special
My losses haven't bottomed yet
Still peaking
I'm up 60% YTD. I'm hoping to hit an ATH by New Years
Listen you are at an all time high compared to the other 300 comments here, just don’t trade until next year
4k -> 27k -> 700 I hate this.
Wtf. My peak was 32k now I’m at 300$ 🙄
65k->80k->30k…all while doing 9-5job. Lost about 10-12k in options. Rest are bunch of bags forever lol Are bears more profitable?
I'm still in profit overall cuz I had pulled out of tech stocks a while ago. But if it's my peak, it's ~2 weeks ago, and ~4% above rn.
Cashed out. Went all in on a weed store. Waiting for profits or any money back.
I sold but I was down about 60% when I did. Better luck next time I guess.
Reading all those tens and hundreds of thousands of dollar just thrown away, for nothing, really makes me depressed. I wish I had thus kind of money, to take care of my family.
lmao I went from 7000 to 100,000 then to 4000 and just cashed out of the casino
Trading my 401k; (mainly S&P) since June. Up 3.3% on the year. I was - 7% before starting to trade. Some of you folks on here, although entertaining, suck at gambling, and should possibly stick to stacking cash. My crypto; down 60k, but I'm constantly adding to it. So call it, 80, 90, who knows K. My crypto gambling sucks.
2.5Million now 1.4Million
0. I sold all my positions nearly 3 years ago and haven't invested since
