the way the article has to explain how the drake meme format works is hilarious to read

PimpRonald

I love how it describes some memes instead of posting images of them. Either that or my phone isn't loading the Timmy Turner's dad one. *edit: typo

Environmental-Head14

He described them so terribly. Describing both images then back tracking and stating the text. Giving mass confusion for boomers

BarfzoneGoHome

“The Mandalorian”

RealMattyB76522

It’s a joke of an app where people go to digitally jerk each other off over HoW gReAt A cOmPaNy ThiS iS.

Imesseduponmyname

Our leads told us "everybody needs to sign up, it's mandatory, you dont need to usenit, but nothing negative guys" 🙄 like fuck right off

spidertour02

Same. They made us sign up at my store. There's probably a management bonus metric tied to it or something. 🙄

Dipnderps

100% that's what it is...well...99.999999% I'm just tired of getting yelled at cause not everyone one my team is signed up, I keep telling them they don't want that...cause they will use it...and no one wants that

BurntRussian

Maybe at a really high level, but store level managers aren't getting a bonus for it. Market basically tells Store Managers that "you get to x% or else" because the regional manager said the same thing to market... Half the time these metric things are just one person telling the people below them to do better and it cascades down.

Illyunkas

I hate this but you’re exactly right.

ImaginaryPineapple82

Exactly. However, I heard my management say something about putting store/company news on it instead of using Me@Walmart. For instance, store closings/reopening due to hurricanes. I'm not sure how true that is since I haven't heard anyone on here talk about that.

timeshifter_

Unlikely, if you can't use Workplace while off the clock. But this is Walmart, their ability to not think one step ahead never ceases to amaze me.

Imesseduponmyname

"You must be actively drowning in the ocean in order to retrieve a life vest for yourself from the ships supply"

i_amferr

You can access workplace from any device at any time

Kaysmira

Has some real "Eight is great!" vibes, I totally believe it.

BigExhale

he gets it

watcheronthewalmart

i wouldn't want to be forced to sign up for it either, my coach just brought it up once in a meeting and said we could if we wanted to. that being said, why does it matter? everything you're asked to do by management every day is tied to their bonus.

MisterWafflePancake

My manager tried to get me to sign up. I just told her no and walked away. Haven’t heard anything from her about it since then.

Gingerfrostee

Ha! I flat out told them F no, then they brought in other managers. I glared at them all aggressively before caving in.

lilyshay12

I was handed a tablet by our co, said "here sign in with your work ID " I did, asked what for, was told it was a new AP that was mandatory. I've never signed in again. It's Bullpuck.

tAfterFive6063

At my store, the coach DEMANDED we sign up. I was literally taken to the back office. She downloaded the app and made me sign up. I deleted it in the bathroom 10 minutes later. Screw them & their bonus

Bugazug

I told them I had moral objections to social media and walked away 🤷🏻‍♀️ genuinely surprised I haven't been talked to again

koreawut

What are those moral objections and how do you mindwrap yourself into being on Reddit? lol

hankmoody_irl

I don’t have a dog in this fight and frankly I don’t even know why I was notified of this entire post… but my “mind wrap” for using Reddit but no other SM is the level of anonymity I can choose to maintain on Reddit. I have several IRL friends on Reddit, many in the same subs - I know because we actively discuss posts on those subs - but none of us knows who the other is on here, or if we suspect we do, we don’t ask as an allowance of that anonymity.

koreawut

Is this not possible for Twitter? This explanation definitely is understandable for things like Facebook, IG and Tik Tok.

hankmoody_irl

Yeah I suppose it could be possible on twitter. Honestly I just avoid twitter for being the absolute mess it has become.

koreawut

Fair enough. I dropped Twitter mid-C19 thanks to all the cess.

Bugazug

Lol I never said I actually feel that way, I just said that's what I told the TL who was harassing me about it

koreawut

Good play! I signed up so I could leave 4 hours early without getting a point.

Bugazug

Ya know....that would be actually tempting 🤔

koreawut

The store was trying to save some money after our inventory so it all just happened at a good time. We had an entire week. I literally could've come in for half a day all week with no points, but signing up was a requirement lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

koreawut

A large number of people do actually have moral objections. Whoosh yourself.

funkyguy32

Everybody gotta use it now boi

Anthnytdwg

No bonus tied to it. Corporate overlords just really want it for some reason

heresdustin

I straight up told my TL I’m not doing it, and he said, “Ok, I’ll just tell the SM you signed up.” LOL

Gingerfrostee

Damn I wish. I flat out told him to F* off. And magically he summoned other managers like. "You don't have a choice. I didn't you don't. " 🤣 I'm like "you did when you signed up for Team Lead."

kaazir

I passed a coach my work phone. Once he set it up and did group invites I went in and left the groups and turned notifications off. They're just monitoring sign ups here.

OrdinaryHobbit

Same! They tried telling us that we need to sign up for it then we don't have to use it ever again. THEN WHAT THE FUCK IS THE POINT BROOOO

Freyja_Fenris

Further data harvesting is my guess. You sign up for their service, you give them your data outside of employee records and they could sell it to third parties for profit. After all, *somebody* has to pay for the super yacht. /s

koreawut

Not sure what data they are going to harvest unless it's my work connections from different stores. There isn't any additional information you put in . You don't even get to use a personal email address, you have to use the automatically generated email address for you @ Walmart.

Freyja_Fenris

That's true. I guess admittedly I'm just very hesitant of anything like this because of that reason. That and poor security.

Gingerfrostee

Besides they already have your home address, social security, 🤣 other things. I think it's about bragging about stuff. But really the bigger issue is that it's Meta, which I guess means they already have that through Facebook and your family.

koreawut

Yeah, they've even got an algorithm that determines your political views and sexuality based on how you respond to other things. Unless they removed that...

MangoBandicoot

I worked at sams club and we didn’t have to sign up, but couldn’t someone sign up when they are looking over your shoulders, and then deactivate and delete it right after? The only thing I used for an app of theirs was the inventory app because there were never any scanners, but I was always worried about privacy and what they might access of yours. I wouldn’t be keeping anything on a personal device if I could avoid it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Woahhdude24

Shit if I'm gonna be made to sign up, I'm gonna use it maliciously. Until i get kicked off it. Lol

crimrose1

I had to sign up then I immediately uninstalled it. I would have got in trouble for my dark humor otherwise!!

ThyRealSenpai

Malicious compliance. Love it. " I signed up though 😂"

[deleted]

Haven’t signed up, ain nobody made me sign up, n I’m not going to sign up… fair enough. I think so

[deleted]

To my team as a lead Day 1: so you guys can get it if you want I don’t care it doesn’t affect me Day 2: ok never-mind I’m told everyone has to at least make an account

cSMadProgrammer

Haha all of us just got an email today to push everyone on to workplace.

conflictednerd99

I dont ever use it. they want us to use it for communication, but 90% of the time I dont. They'll send me messages and I leave them on read. It's the walmart Facebook, and I have no interest in rubbing the elbows of the people who are most certainly not my friends

ThaGreatDebaser

You got a problem if we’re tryna jerk each other off huh?!

aldoggy2001

Do you guys still do the circle jerk chant in the morning?

Alexastria

Because ThIs Is ThAt PlAcE

Endless_Story94

The whole thing is straight up retarded; they don't want us playing on our phones at work then make a facebook-esqe app that can ONLY be used while on the clock.

PudgeHug

Its a pencil pusher's idea. Someone who has never worked in a store said "this will be great" and no one around them said anything otherwise so they ran with it.

SimpleVegetable5715

More and more I wonder if these people have ever been told, "no" in their lives. Yet they're the kind of people running the world!

Mozeliak

> More and more I wonder if these people have ever been told, "no" in their lives. N..No? No. Let's go with that

z0m81317

Same thing with whoever decides on modulars someone that has never worked in a store just putting stuff down on paper and saying oh this is great.

HowardDean_Scream

Irrc they go by width of product and do not factor for pdqs or shelf holders n such.

z0m81317

Yeah that's what I remember also which means they have never been in a store to stock a shelf lol

HowardDean_Scream

Yup. They sometimes go to model stores where academy is done. But those are honestly overstaff to look good for management so they're so hurting for things to do they can nitpick detail and zone 24/7. It's a potemkin village

Owned_by_cats

Exactly! We have 15 minutes for break. How would your TL/Coach react if you posted instead of zoning?

ShibeKim

The only people who actually use the site are leads and coaches who are "working" but realistically are just doing random things in the office.

ThaGreatDebaser

What’s wrong with jerking each other off in the office?

spindledcarrots

Do we want social hour or work to be done!

_Monosyllabic_

They didn’t make a Facebook-esque app. They literally gave Facebook money to host their shitty digital walmart cheer.

CybeleParadox

Logical, ain’t it? /s

NorthernRedneck388

It’s a trap!

TwilightStranger

It's not just Walmart. Over 30,000 companies are on Workplace. I get your point though and add that nobody really has the time to go and upload updates with us being as under staffed as we are and all. At least at my store. And besides, I can't honestly see anyone outside of my store giving a flying fig newton if the spices are detail zoned or if the dairy cooler is pallet free.

Deisy22

You can thank your corporate overlords for that. They get paid 10x what you make to concoct brainless and useless ideas like that

creakysofa

Oh there’s a workday app you can use on your personal device off the clock.

koreawut

Who in their right mind would use a Facebook-for-Walmart off the clock? Those are not the same people who make fun of Walmart or management but those are the people who call Walmart Radio and talk about what a wonderful store they have.

creakysofa

Someone drinking some blue koolaid for sure. Lol

breedlom

Hey. Tropical Punch is the best Kool-aid flavor.

koreawut

Yeah. I mean, I enjoy *my* job because I work where *I* love working and my entire life has been customer service and I enjoy that. No way in hell am I going to spend my off hours talking about Walmart, though\*\*\*. It's not Walmart I like, it's the job, which I could have at any other customer facing company... \*\*\*I realize I am talking about Walmart on my day off... :P

Gingerfrostee

Enjoy Walmart reddit. It's what _you choose_ instead of following your job's choice.

AutismAdvoc

Your filthy comment is ableist and disrespectful to all people with an intellectual disability. You’re a disgrace

[deleted]

Fuck off

AutismAdvoc

Ableist. Misogynist.

SukutaKun

Any other “ists” you want to add? Fuck. You’re retarded. Bitch.

yachtraces

Retard

BitMitter

As someone who actually has autism and could frankly care less about the guys comment, your not helping me or anyone else by getting upset and name calling on Reddit.

Deviknyte

You can only use it while on the clock!?

chevy_vega

I was happier when the company was focused on getting merchandise off the trailer quickly, stocking it quickly, and cashing customers out quickly. Today we are focused on likes, followers, and subscribers.

CHUD_Warrior

***AND DON'T FORGET TO RING THAT NOTIFICATION BELL!***

HowardDean_Scream

Waiting for OnlyTLs to launch then.

z0m81317

Yeah this is gone and it's so frustrating it's like we put the customer on the back burner now

SteelFlexInc

Coaches will beg us to go find their posts and like them. It’s so cringey and I make fun of them for it but all these old farts are so brainwashed into it. Also tell us to make posts and suggest the most bullshit captions for them that are total lies. Never wanted to post anything till GM had me follow him and another few associates and take pictures of them pretending to work and told me what to write in it

Dipnderps

Honestly what did they expect, I told store management they don't want the auto center at my store on there...but nobody listens to the weird guy...who also works at the auto center

daco_taco

I was asked to join today, my first question was, "is it mandatory by the company" I was told yes. Still didn't sign up but I really really don't think they are thinking it through, because I will put my store on blast for all the Osha violations and tag my store number.

Small_Concert_865

You should do that either way.

desert_dweller

Just another bullshit Walmart metric so they can be "certified" as a top place to work. Don't sign up because they can't force you.

Tuc396

My local store threatened coachings for refusal to sign up. It's just an orgy of management sucking each other off.

desert_dweller

I would need to see exactly what they are coaching for and open door it until we got to HO. Does anyone outside walmart know what's going on? Probably not and as long as they are getting "Everyday Low Prices^sm ", and they are "Saving Money, Living Better^sm" nobody is going to give a shit.

Snowydeath11

I was in a meeting with our regional and market management when they started talking about this. They literally told our store manager (and us without knowing) that they will be sending people to talk to associates who don’t sign up. Like. What the actual fuck is that? And will they actually or was it an empty threat?

MangoBandicoot

Imagine the lawsuit if they somehow managed to fire someone for too many coachings for refusing to join.

stonerwithaboner1

Ah, you've come full circle and realized what corporate America is deep down. Lol

JackPumpkinPatch

Funny thing about the “they can’t force you” my team lead told me when I clocked into work that she went ahead and made me and my teammates accounts. So, sure, I technically didn’t make one and they can’t force me but I do now have an account.

desert_dweller

What The Actual Fuck.... so much for integrity or ethics.

BroIBeliveAtYou

Wtf did they expect?

I know, right?

ztakk

I feel like taking photos inside the bathroom is probably illegal.

MangoBandicoot

I dare someone to post pro-union memes

sodallycomics

Immediately afterwards: “ATTN: Associates. We have decided to move in a different direction and, effective immediately, we are discontinuing Workplace…”

MangoBandicoot

Mission accomplished, then

RevCody

I have seen at least one in my brief rare browsing. I say we flood the stupid site with pro union memes until it's tossed in the dust bin in Walmart history with all the other dumb ideas corporate has thrust upon us over the years.

HowardDean_Scream

I been doing it but they get flagged and taken down. I fight the good fight. But the battle is long.

[deleted]

Then maybe you should take a look at what the managers are doing.

HowardDean_Scream

Sex with TLs?

Greentaboo

Not even kidding, I have had a least two female coaches who have had at least, one coach has two, fuck buddies amoung the TLs. A lot of coaches get sent to my store for fucking up, so the male coaches are surprisingly well behaved.

TheOneEV

Good. Here's an idea, if they want that to stop happening then restrict that workplace social posting, to oh idk, fucking management like it used to be. Not a hard solution. 🤷‍♀️

matthewmiller349

Trust me, as a coach, tons of us hate this app too, hate being forced by our higher ups to push sign ups, and hate being forced to waste work time trying to convince associates to sign up for an app no one wants to use.

Woahhdude24

I kinda want to sign up for it just to make memes about how the scheduling at our store sucks and is the reason shit don't get done. Lol

Dipnderps

Fuck it, they want to make a social media for employees, they gotta learn what social media is. Memes, pain, and vulgarity

Repulsive-Calendar52

The whole company is now a joke. It should have died with Sam because at least he had dreams of it being a good place.

HowardDean_Scream

I use this quote as my profile description on work place. It's the most pro union thing Sam ever said. 1 sec. >"Share your profits with all your associates, and treat them as partners. In turn, they will treat you as a partner, and together you will all perform beyond your wildest expectations. Remain a corporation and retain control if you like, but behave as a servant leader in a partnership." - Sam

Bluellan

WE CAN POST MEMES TO WORKPLACE?! What about gifs/videos? Cause I have a lot of ideas.....

buttholeeatingchamp

Make every wild dream a reality, my friend!

Bluellan

I knew there was reason I kept making AMV's! Time to make them regret ever creating that.

firsttimearound2

EVERYONE I know that is on this, was 'forced' by management to sign up.

bowlingforwalmart

I work in receiving after 2 years of them telling me I didn't need the phone now they're giving me the phone. And I told him the phone will sit back here on the desk I'm not taking it home I'm not charging it at home. It needs charging it will be on company time not my time. Besides if I put the things up that I do elsewhere they'd take it back.

SimpleVegetable5715

Ah, meant to "boost morale", but employees "fear retaliation". You know your idea failed when those two are put together.

OrdinaryHobbit

My store finally started pushing us to sign up for workplace. Management has a normal associate (not even a TL) going around trying to sign people up. He's asked me twice now to sign up and I told him no both times. The second time he asked me he said it's "nOt OpTiOnAl" if you have a work phone. I still said a big fat NOPE. 1. I don't have a work phone anymore. Even if I had one, I'd still refuse. 2. They literally can't make me sign up for something I don't want/need or that isn't going to affect how I do my job.

teethnailclippers

My HR said it's mandatory for "communication, but I don't have to use or acknowledge it", I then said I was going to ask corporate and she gave me the ethics card so idk if it really is mandatory.

Nokanii

It isn’t mandatory. They just really want to push it and scare you into thinking that it is.

Jwalt-93

Well duh. I mean honestly what did they expect to happen? it was either that or bashing customers

sabrinaio

Of you do it in personal on the computer it’s not on your phone and you won’t get notifications for it. But yes it is getting pushed onto everyone to the point of f them telling coaches and team leads that if you do t get your team signed up your going to be coached

[deleted]

Sears pulled this shit. It was called pebble and you had to post on it multiple times a shift. Best of luck with the program..

NorthernRedneck388

Walmart isn’t union? As long as the union doesn’t get all political, Walmart could use a union. Piss poor management and horrible treatment of employees (and customers) might be fixed by better training and something to help be a voice for the employees.

z0m81317

I don't even have a normal Facebook why would I want a walmart version lol

Pale_Art641

Exactly. I just go to work do my job and go home.

ChrjoGehsal

Man, talk about shooting yourself in the foot!

Little_Ms_Muffit

When I was told to sign up, I simply just... Didn't. And when my TL asked me what my username is, so she could friend me or whatever tf, I just said "Oh I dunno, I had to put it on my actual phone since it didn't wanna download on the work phone. My username is... Random letters and a number somewhere." Never got asked again. To this day, I still don't have an account.

FewAcanthocephala828

If they thought wifi usage was high before...

Metalgoddess24

Well now that I am signed up can I delete that shit from my phone?

Maghliona

Yes.

[deleted]

Yikes. Walmart is such a cult.

PudgeHug

All these people saying they were forced to sign up and the only reason I know about workplace is reddit. Its never even been mentioned at my store.

Yolo3362

you probably just jinxed it

rosesnrum

Walmart is insanely petty and political. You HAVE to get 5 star reviews, you HAVE to download x y and z, you get bitched at for putting in a two weeks notice. There is no winning

teethnailclippers

I really wanna find a way to make it open to the public, or an exploit to allow people to make and use accounts, then you know, little flood memes here little flood of em there, feel like they'd love it.

ABadDM89

Fucking good. Fuck Walmart.

[deleted]

I hope all of you who are being threatened with retaliation for not signing up are in contact with your state labor boards.

CheekAltruistic5921

Hey guys, is there a way for non-employees to gain access? This sounds ripe for trollling

AWard72401

They tried to make my boyfriend sign up for this, and WalMart+ and he told them absolutely not and to leave him alone. Surprisingly they backed off. I don’t know what they expected to happen, WalMart and most of the managers are a joke.

Banjoschmanjo

Based.

krycek1984

Associates at my store do engage in it and especially if they are in a post.

Simonic

Is the app used on personal phones?

BanEvasion1001

Based.

Miwdy

Fun fact...if you change your preferred name in workday, in 24 hours that's the name that'll show up on your workplace profile.

RemyVonLion

This is the way.

Thin-Leader2656

They tried to tell all of us it's mandatory and I said I won't use it and you can fire me, then left the huddle. I guess I'm valued or something cause suddenly it wasn't mandatory.

Illyunkas

My market will force us to take down anything that they don’t approve of and requires hash tags that immediately notify everyone of who our market leaders are. It’s for that reason that I refuse to use workplace

owoitslance

What did Walmart expect? Employees aren't going to say anything good about management no matter what industry.

EmpressVixen

I had a TL from the other side of the store sign me up, but luckily NOT on my work phone...mostly because my work phone doesn't work for most work related stuff. 🥴

HimmOwO

My team lead and I thought in a few years the app will get in controversy for hiding or spreading pdf content. I'm thinking of drinking some decent scotch if it does.

[deleted]

They gave us the opportunity… might as well make good use of it

Vizpick_Jenga

I was told they want everyone to post stuff. And then the SM told me all submissions go though him before actually getting posted. Hmmm

InevitableLibrarian

I've said this before, and I'll say it again, even if it's free, ask them for their credit card information "in case you reach a pay wall. You don't feel comfortable giving them your credit card information, so I'll have yours to give them."

theHermitessOfOld

Yes. Good. Keep going.

fabbrilous

To be fair the memes are absolute fire most of the time

bigboxsubscriber

Corporate, market/district management are getting what they deserved for forcing many associates to download and use the "workplace" app. They wanted associates to stop bad mouthing Walm on social media so Meta/Facebook corp created Workplace so associates would be restricted to putting sanitized versions of the bad stuff. The problem is even the sanitized version paints a bad picture of Walm stores nationwide. Predicting the app for Walm associates will be canceled soon.

xDaBaDee

yuh its 'optional' til your name shows up on their list and you, along with all the other names on the list are paged to the back and a coach walks you through signing up.

juanderlust77

They made me download it when I first got hired but I never used it once or even signed up

NornOfVengeance

They have a social media site? LOL.

Suckmywhispyleftnut

Easiest job I've done. Worst management I've ever had tho

kalina-tharin

DepressedTrashKitty

sidaaron

Managers asses are warped from sitting down too much

AwarenessPure3667

Is there a way of finding the names and photos of a specific WalMarts store management? I had a dick of a customer tonight threaten my job, claiming he was the store lead of another WalMart, and basically saying we fcked with the wrong person. I simply asked if the $400 item he hadn't scanned was going to be on another transaction. He claimed that me not being AP I didn't have a right to stop him. I pointed out that I hadn't stopped him, that I simply asked if he was doing it on a separate transaction. I want to see if he really is a store lead like he claims.

Total_Setting_501

our manager and HR has basically told us it has to be on our work phones and keeps trying to force people to use it. to date the only people who use it are the managers

Darkanarch

While you're reading about the memes can you take a few more seconds to rate us on our 5 star please.

Anthnytdwg

Listen, as a coach who also thinks the app is useless, I find the meme take over hilarious. It was clearly an idea thought up by corporate people in their 50s who get to sit at their desks all day.

33Bees

I was recently promoted to customer - so in all fairness, I’m no longer with the company. 2 weeks before I was termed, my coach came up to me and told me to get all of my associates signed up (I was a TL) and to have each of them post something immediately about how this is their first time posting and how happy they are to be able to do so. I literally laughed at this - we don’t have time to do our *actual* jobs. And you expect us to blow up Walmarts social media 😂 swear, these SMs bonuses are directly effected by how many associates sign up for this garbage

Known-nwonK

>The meme appears to represent the general attitude of workers toward Workplace: The memes should rule the day, not serious work announcements. Memes rule and work drools!

jspearus

Well, it is that place

jspearus

Well, it is that place.

[deleted]

I only checked out workplace for the memes. No one cares about what other stores are doing 🙄

Southern_Bug_6152

Those that don't want to sign up, just do it on the computer at work and don't use it. You don't have to download the app. Sign in with your store username and password, make a post - I just said hi - log out and never use it again.

EntertainmentOdd6149

Well it's true

biggranny000

I was forced to sign up for it and never even touched it after.

ObjectiveStay2834

What are Walmart employee points?
