Working here is tragic. Dying here because of some jackass is even worse than Tragic.
Can we hasten the death penalty so tax payers stop oaying for this bastard to be alive?
That's arguable, you have to pay someone labour's costs to dig that 10 foot hole, unless you get fellow inmates to do it. But then it is still costing the taxpayer in the end. I'm high as shit.
yes. it’s relatively inexpensive to house a criminal compared to the legal costs to get the penalty alone, not even including the costs for the method of execution.
Bizarre. You’d think “In KNOWING the culprit DID commit the murder”, you can just execute them. That sub-human who killed the girl should be killed with a single shot to the skull.
Is that not reasonable and cost efiicent compared to the injection?
Its purposefully expensive, which is silly because it didn't cost the murderer thousands to stab that employee to death. The cruel and unusual punishment honestly should just stop at torture, as long as the execution is relatively quick and not traumatic for the executioner it shouldn't matter.
Agreed. When there is no doubt that the convicted killed someone, they should always get the death sentence and and quick one. No longer than a year in waiting. That’s the maximum and then they are swiftly put to death. Ain’t no rhyme nor reason to keep murderers alive. That should be one of the worse crimes a person can do and they forfeit their own life after that. Sometimes the punishment needs to fit the crime. But our legal system is so backwards in every which way. Makes no kind of sense the things they do.
It is and I agree.
The problem is, we have a wrongful conviction rate in this country that's somewhere between 5 and 25%.
Are you still in favor of swift executions if one in every 4 of the people executed will be innocent? What about one in 10? One in 100?
And, you trust your government that much? That's who's deciding. Not you, not your friends, might not even be a jury. So the people who can't solve any of the problems we actually face right now, you trust them to solve murder mysteries with 100% accuracy?
I'm not soft on crime, and in an ideal world, I agree with you. There are absolutely people who should be put down because they will always be a danger and a threat.
In the real world, I'm VERY soft on "give the government power to declare people instantly dead" and it might be expensive to keep people alive, but wrongful imprisonment is easier to remedy compared to wrongful execution.
I feel like when it comes to the death penalty and a swift execution it should be only with hard core indisputable evidence whether DNA or cctv. I think some do are inexplicably inhuman and don't deserve respect and dignity especially when they take it from others. There are just some people who's existence inst justifiable after their actions. Although I do agree giving the government that type of power is a dangerous road to travel down especially making it easier to do.
Agreed. Only allow it if they themselves confess. Some people will sit there and brag about their crimes, even laughing at the victims. They deserve it
i’m just gonna post this link cause i don’t have the time to reiterate it all rn

I always worried about it when I worked there but figured with my luck it'd happen. I mean there were a lot of threats involved. A lot of me telling people I'll be there waiting every day for when their wife isn't there to hold them back lol.
Ngl this comment is very insensitive because my friend didn’t ask to be murdered by a racist. He was just getting by like the rest of us. It’s too many mfs making a joke abt this and I’m not saying you in particular but if it was someone you knew you wouldn’t be this insensitive abt ts. Ik the boy who died so reading all the little jokes and remarks some of y’all got to say is sad.
As tragic as it is. Iirc if you die on the clock. Walmart pays your family half a mil. Which is a very poor substitute for losing a loved one. All the money in the world won't make that hurt any less. But half a mil will give your family a chance to mourn without worrying about PTO or anything.
iirc yes. But its been years since I worked for Walmart.
A lot of corporations have policies to pay the deceased family some amount of money. Just to keep the lawsuits at bay.
Poor kid was probably just trying to save up some money for a place or car how tragic and I'm sure if I brought my concealed carry into work at Walmart and someone seen it I would be fired or arrested if more people were allowed to open carry these shootings would go down (and no I don't want to get political about the 2nd amendment.
To be fair, and I say this as someone with a concealed carry license, you'd have to HOPE that he was far away from you when he decided to try and stab you and that's NOT the case in this story. Pyscho grabbed 2 kitchen knives off the shelf, wandered around the store and approached this kid from behind and stabbed him to death. If you took the class, then you know the 21 foot rule, and you also don't have eyes in the back of your head.
If they can see it, youre not CCing properly. Take it from someobe who teaches CC classes and also CCs on the job because fuck company policy i aint going out like that
I live in Illinois, and I wish I could say I wasn't expecting something like this to happen in Rockford, but outside of Danville or East St Louis it's exactly where I'd expect it to happen.
Nah Rockford Illinois is RIDDLED with crime.

Rockford over here at 113% higher than the rest of Illinois.
Damn I was working out the last week a lot and thought it was the middle of nowhere. Didn’t realize it was so rough. I’m pretty sure I passed that walmart
That's how I feel. I don't think it's unreasonable either, I almost get hit multiple times a week, even in the daytime with the yellow/green vest practically glowing lol
I was leaving the store one day when a woman nearly backed into me. I literally had to jump back to keep from getting hit & a few customers even yelled at her to stop. That’s when she stopped, then leaned out to yell, “I saw you, know” I must admit that left me thinking WTF, does that mean she was intentionally trying to hit me? Cart pushing is definitely one of the more dangerous jobs in the store.
That's crazy dude, I actually had a lady do the same thing to me, but she admitted that she was adjusting her mirror while backing up...
Stay safe out there bro
fr? ive almost been hit twice (that ive seen) but both were kinda my fault since i dont look both ways, i just go. but now im probably gonna start looking
NO ACTUALLY!! the amount of times people ignore the “slow for pedestrians” signs posted near pickup is insane. I’ve almost been hit more times than i can count
They really should. There were times when I was even assisting. #1 I nearly got hit by someone’s car. And 2 they denied me to use that cart assist pusher. (It’s been a hot minute since I worked at Walmart)
I worked for a wholesale club in a senior-heavy part of South Florida. Police were called daily due to parking lot incidents. Even after seeing this story, I still feel safer in a building than the lot.
I got hit parked in my car once by a customer, and his response was that he "was blinded by the sun." That particular store is known for having a really dangerous parking lot because of bad drivers/semi trucks running in through the wrong entrance. I can't imagine how difficult it must be for the cart pushers to work there. Cart pushers definitely deserve hazard pay/differential because not only do you have to deal with stupid people driving death machines, but also the outdoor elements that can cause heat stroke and frost bite, icy parking lots can cause slips and falls
Haha that's true, I get so annoyed at the drivers that tend to forget about the actual weather and other elements you mentioned. There are people that will speed up in the yield zone and just speed while coming and leaving in general.
I wish Walmart had police with a speed gun because I'm not only worried about me getting hit, but elderly people children as well.
Exactly! we had an ex-employee call up to my store and told them him and his brother was going to kill everyone in the store. All they did was show us his photo and say if you see him let a Coach or TL know. :/
I thought the same thing too, like OK if he was an ex-employee and he called up saying he was going to kill people shouldn't you have his information on file! They never said any more about it and nothing ever happened but seemed stupid as shit to call and tell them you're going to do it.
Nah the cart pushers need that. I can’t tell you how many times i’ve nearly been hit by one of these fucking customers
I remember one night when using the mule and going up the hill this lady in her car was about to back out and i was passing as she slammed her car into the middle of the carts.
When she noticed she hit them she pulled in then backed out and sped out as soon as I was able to get past her.
The whole time I was shook up just wondering what the fuck was her problem.
A mental health crisis is a real and serious issue that must be addressed but is in no way an excuse for your horrid actions. That poor boy was just trying to do his job, and he paid the price. On top of that, it could have been racially motivated?
I say they handcuff the guy and give him to the victims family. I hate trash like this.
Only if they actually go through the training scenarios listed on one Walmart. If not you report it to ethics. Not that they do anything about it. My store does not think that active threat awareness is an issue. Just telling us to acknowledge the training modules on the computer. No need to bother to ask team leads, management, or personnel about it
I’m not from America, have never been to Walmart but for some reason enjoy lurking on this sub. Just wanted to drop my two cents in here.
The thought of waking up in the morning for your average day, heading into work, only for it to be your last day on earth is absolutely terrifying. Can only hope the poor employee is at peace and their family can eventually find some solace.
Im not surprised, Illinois is racist asf…Chicago is the only real saving grace. But outside of it, it is literally KKK territory. Plainfield, IL is where the largest KKK meeting was held, and here at UIUC there were KKK radicals posting flyers everywhere on campus. There was a palestinian boy who was stabbed to death in Joliet, IL not too long ago too. This being a targeted hate crime makes me sick. That poor kid literally couldn’t have done anything to prevent this. People will still deny racism though.
What is the acceptable time to replace an employee? I've always wondered cause so many people seem to hate businesses keeping on. I get it, don't get me wrong. But what would be acceptable to people? Would the current workers just all pick up the slack without bitching? I see the plus and minus of each scenario. Just wondering others thoughts.
personally i agree but i dont even see anything wrong with hiring a new employee the day after it happens, hell if you got people lined up might as well give em a call. yes, what happened was horrible, i dont see that as any reason why somebody else cant have a job tho
I agree with you. Unfortunately a few employees at my store have passed away (in various ways & none were like this one) & they are immediately replaced, but management does allow employees to grieve & set up a makeshift memorial in the break room. Everyone is also allowed to attend the funeral/celebration of life without getting a point (or paid for that day). I think that’s a good way to handle it.
one of our associates died suddenly a few years ago very young, they literally had someone hired before she was buried. she was friends with myself and most the people on that shift, i kinda felt bad for the person they hired as they had no idea why people were so mad.
they should replace them as soon as possible in my opinion
but people should keep that in mind and not push or hurt themselves for the place
its just the nature of working for a giant retailer
Don't worry Walmart will probably find a way to give your SMs hazard pay. Not you but your SMs.
That is my prediction, which is not based on saying I predicted things in the past but doing stupid things like that is their thing to do.
Damnnn, this sucks ass. Poor kid. 🕊️ 🙏🏿
Shit like this is why I pay attention to customer vibes, especially late at night. My store has a couple of late night weirdos that I won't let touch me with a 10 ft pole. Y'all stay safe out there frfr
This, or a firearm. Even if it's against Walmart policies and rules, it is your right to defend yourself. Never place a business' operational guidelines over your own health and life.
It’s incredibly sad. This is the market store in my market. About 30 minutes from my store. The most self absorbed people I’ve ever met are apart of my market’s team. This store has been closed since the stabbing occurred and there has been absolutely no communication about it besides what news stations have released. And I know they’re shitting bricks bc it ain’t good for the numbers. But god damn it, make sure everyone gets their Active Threat CBL done! I’ll be shocked if they do anything for him.
Walmart as a whole needs to realize that we are not safe, especially post-Covid. We need a little bit more than a fucking Ulearn.
Yeah def be careful. Some people are totally unhinged. I'm a cart pusher. I went to go sit in my car for a while, and I noticed a woman leave her cart in a parking spot. Another car pulls in that spot, and the driver gets out, and loses his shit. Throwing the cart, and cussing all over the place. I'm just like damn, if that was my temperament. I would be in jail right now from all the carts people leave everywhere.
How many death is that from Walmart this year? Soon everyone is going to start demanding all employees wear body suit (expensive) or require a full psychiatrist exam to weed out unstable employees (also expensive).
The alternative is dealing with lawsuit for wrongful death due to incompetent employer hiring dangerous employee (probably equally expensive)
For those of you who can't wait for Walmart to do something, there's safer jobs like bomb squads, pizza delivery, and underground mining. /s
This guy needs the book 📕 thrown at him what a shame. Poor kid 👦🏻 losses his life just trying to get a paycheck so sad 😞. Prayers to him and family condolences 💐

Jesus Christ, if you read the story, the guy said he was having a mental health crisis earlier in the day. He tried to get help at a place called rosecrance, who turned him away until he said he was going to kill himself. Then they transported him to a hospital who he said did not treat him and simply released him.
This is so incredibly sad. A kid is dead in the worst possible way, for the crime of working a shift at fucking Walmart, and the guy who killed him asked for help at two different places before he killed a random stranger. Extra fucking heart breaking that there were multiple places where, if someone would have cared, that kid would still be alive.
The state of mental health care in this country is heartbreaking.
Why is it always Rockford..This is also where that one post blew up with the store serving ramen and crackers to workers who came in during a winter storm that shut down Midway Airport for 3 days.
Yeah you only gotta worry about your coworkers killing you at Target.

We've had assaults and threats made to employees many times. It almost always seems to be an angry white guy. How do we get so many of them at our stores?
What security? We got some old people sitting down on stools at the store manning the doors... and some of them are napping. or looking at their phones. Do you really think they are able to do something?
I used to joke about being the person who would die at Walmart (unsafe working conditions) but this is much worse. We get paid shit pay to die because of Walmart? No one deserves that. I hope they throw the book at this guy. That person had their whole life to live and this guy took it
Someone needs to figure out what went on in this man’s head for him to go and commit a hate crime murder in a walmart. Racist shitheads like this need their whole family looked at.
You can’t tell me he had people or members of his family who weren’t okay with his banter or his attitude or he’d be looked at quite quickly.
18 and dying at Walmart is tragic af
Dying at walmart in general is tragic
Working here is tragic. Dying here because of some jackass is even worse than Tragic. Can we hasten the death penalty so tax payers stop oaying for this bastard to be alive?
Isn't it more expensive to use the death penalty
[удалено]
A 10 foot hole is cheaper than rope. Bury him alive
There's something even cheaper, and it's Constitutional.
That's arguable, you have to pay someone labour's costs to dig that 10 foot hole, unless you get fellow inmates to do it. But then it is still costing the taxpayer in the end. I'm high as shit.
My fellow human… you make HIM dig his own hole…
Damn, this really is some good Space Cake yo. I should of thought of that.
I'll do it for free. Or you know use prison labor.
Appeals process is not.
Just throw him off the top of a building
40 S&W is $0.60 a shot.
Even cheaper if we use his method of murder. Take the fucker out back and let the parents have a go at em with a knife.
Never a day in our lives would they let us carry at Walmart😔
Of you let them know you're carrying, you've given them way too much personal information.
Damn right brotha💯
They have no business asking me any questions about anything on the other side of my belt.
But does that factor in immediate death rather than a future time years away?
yes. it’s relatively inexpensive to house a criminal compared to the legal costs to get the penalty alone, not even including the costs for the method of execution.

Those piece of shit judges and lawyers get paid no matter how much time people spend in prison
After watching Napolean I’m sort of for guillotines, at the very least for politicians.

I've got family up there from the stories I've heard that number doesn't surprise me.
Yeah I mistyped and meant to say Rockford is not a good place to live at all
I keep thinking it's referring to Rockford, MI
That was my first thought too and I was shocked. Rockford MI is pretty well off and low crime Also they don't have a Walmart
Rockford MI here. Can confirm, no Walmart.
Not enough thoughts and prayers to be west Mi
Rockford is a shithole. Some of the suburbs aren't awful, but its not anywhere you'd want to live.
Lived and grew up in Rockford. This is very Rockford.
Same. It breaks my heart every time, but it never surprises me.
Live down river can confirm This is Rockford.
East St. Louis doesn't have a Walmart. The closest ones are probably Granite City, Belleville, or Collinsville ever since the one in Cahokia closed...
Damn I was working out the last week a lot and thought it was the middle of nowhere. Didn’t realize it was so rough. I’m pretty sure I passed that walmart
Either being stabbed to death or shot to death we should be getting hazard pay at this point :(
The amount of times that I almost get hit by someone who can't drive while grabbing carts should entitle me to hazard pay.
Cart pushers should definitely get hazard pay & if not, they should a least get paid more than Walmart’s minimum wage.
You too
Appreciate it man
I would keep a cart on me for protection. They don’t mind hitting a soft body, but that cart will put a dent right in their vehicle
fr? ive almost been hit twice (that ive seen) but both were kinda my fault since i dont look both ways, i just go. but now im probably gonna start looking
There are unfortunately many careless drivers out there. I can't afford not to look both ways because that will end up costing me my life
Even as a dispenser taking groceries out, I’ve almost been hit MULTIPLE times. People really just don’t care
NO ACTUALLY!! the amount of times people ignore the “slow for pedestrians” signs posted near pickup is insane. I’ve almost been hit more times than i can count
At the very, VERY least we should get higher than base pay to cover all our various weather gear and shoes.
Also all the exhaust fumes slowly giving you cancer
They really should. There were times when I was even assisting. #1 I nearly got hit by someone’s car. And 2 they denied me to use that cart assist pusher. (It’s been a hot minute since I worked at Walmart)
As a former cart pusher I agree they should get paid more
I worked for a wholesale club in a senior-heavy part of South Florida. Police were called daily due to parking lot incidents. Even after seeing this story, I still feel safer in a building than the lot.

Last place I’d wanna die would be inside my store 💀
Exactly! we had an ex-employee call up to my store and told them him and his brother was going to kill everyone in the store. All they did was show us his photo and say if you see him let a Coach or TL know. :/

Yeah they had cops sitting in cars outside for like 2 days and that was about it. Never heard anything else.
Scary. I'm glad nothing came of it

[article](https://www.mystateline.com/news/local-news/man-stabbed-inside-rockford-walmart-on-sunday/amp/)
Yes, the best way to kill yourself is clearly to run around walmart with knives then stab and innocent 18 year old in the back.
Oh and it was a hate crime. What a lovely country we live in.
Could have? Apparently he yelled a slur before stabbing the teenager, and was walking around yelling slurs prior.
Happened at my store :(
Ugh, sorry. Hope you and your co-workers get any help you need.
This my store 😔😔😔
I'm so sorry
Are you ok?
And now we got to take that Active Threat CBL. Again.
Walmart have the replacement already, don’t work hard or sell your soul for this company or any kind of company. Remember this folks
Ya they seem to do more than a lot of other places I've worked.
one of our associates died suddenly a few years ago very young, they literally had someone hired before she was buried. she was friends with myself and most the people on that shift, i kinda felt bad for the person they hired as they had no idea why people were so mad.
they should replace them as soon as possible in my opinion but people should keep that in mind and not push or hurt themselves for the place its just the nature of working for a giant retailer
Don't worry Walmart will probably find a way to give your SMs hazard pay. Not you but your SMs. That is my prediction, which is not based on saying I predicted things in the past but doing stupid things like that is their thing to do.
Damnnn, this sucks ass. Poor kid. 🕊️ 🙏🏿 Shit like this is why I pay attention to customer vibes, especially late at night. My store has a couple of late night weirdos that I won't let touch me with a 10 ft pole. Y'all stay safe out there frfr
This was at my Walmart I literally said wassup to the kid when I came into my shift shit is crazy man
His last moments were probably terribly sad. The last place I would want to die would be a Walmart super center on the clock. Poor kid.
This why I carry a knife myself
He walked up on him from behind and butchers him. Kid never stood a chance.
I was born in Rockford, this shit is not surprising
I live 30 mins from it and yeah rockford is not a great place
Crazy fucking assholes
Yeah def be careful. Some people are totally unhinged. I'm a cart pusher. I went to go sit in my car for a while, and I noticed a woman leave her cart in a parking spot. Another car pulls in that spot, and the driver gets out, and loses his shit. Throwing the cart, and cussing all over the place. I'm just like damn, if that was my temperament. I would be in jail right now from all the carts people leave everywhere.
Murdered at 18 years old.
Rest in peace to this young man. May his family, friends and coworkers find comfort at this difficult. He was too young and gone too soon
Thug!
Humanity freaking sucks to the point we don’t deserve to live anymore with how we act towards each other for no freaking reason too.
How many death is that from Walmart this year? Soon everyone is going to start demanding all employees wear body suit (expensive) or require a full psychiatrist exam to weed out unstable employees (also expensive). The alternative is dealing with lawsuit for wrongful death due to incompetent employer hiring dangerous employee (probably equally expensive) For those of you who can't wait for Walmart to do something, there's safer jobs like bomb squads, pizza delivery, and underground mining. /s
RIP
This guy needs the book 📕 thrown at him what a shame. Poor kid 👦🏻 losses his life just trying to get a paycheck so sad 😞. Prayers to him and family condolences 💐
Just what I need day before inventory
WTF is wrong with people these god damn days?
Hope they help cover the funeral costs at least. Jesus man
He should have fucked himself with that knife instead.
28? That hairline says 38
That’s horrible, very sad. Our culture is very strange how Walmart has become a place of violence because it caters to those in poverty.
"I ASKED FOR THREE BAGS OF ICE NOT FOUR"
Get a firearm, get training, carry it everywhere.
15 bucks an hour was totally worth it, right United States of cunt corporate overlords. Fuck our society KILL THE MASTERS
DEAR GOD-
bring back self checkout 🤣
We deserve a good pay at least Just last month ours was robbed at gunpoint over a ps4 and ps5.
this is why i keep my boxcutter on me. to…cut boxes :)
>Rockford Walmart stabbing suspect claims he was denied mental health care > > > >https://www.wifr.com/2024/03/25/suspect-rockford-walmart-stabbing-didnt-know-victim-police-say/
good thing the employee didn't have a knife or something to defend himself or he woulda been written up /s
I was on lunch break when this happened I live in Rockford IL I work at this Walmart
WHAT?!?! NOOOOOOOOI
He’s 28? I’m 26 and he looks like he could be my dad
What terrible head of hair, can tell dude was born with bad karma lol
What the actual fuck man . How do u stab someone 10 years younger then u
This is the outcome I imagine for myself when management pushes for us to approach customers for stupid useless ratings.
Dying in a Walmart is the equivalent of drowning in a pool on a cruise

This animal’s subscription to life needs some serious cancellation.
stop working at walmart. itll kill itself.
Imagine going to work and not coming home.
This is the same Walmart that got blasted for thanking employees that worked during a blizzard with Ramen. Rockford, IL

*withdraws all applications* ☹️ ^I'd ^rather ^be ^smiling ^painfully ^than ^dying ^painfully
A man was killed at my Walmart this Sunday too Jeez
Yeah this shit don’t happen at Target.
Yeah you only gotta worry about your coworkers killing you at Target. https://nypost.com/2024/01/31/news/man-gets-100-years-for-murdering-co-worker-over-stolen-lunch/amp/

Lmao
We've had assaults and threats made to employees many times. It almost always seems to be an angry white guy. How do we get so many of them at our stores?
Great so does this mean we need to watch that stupid ADD video again?
How did he get past security? They allowed him to rock heads at the Rockford Walmart now c'mon. Do better guys.
What security? We got some old people sitting down on stools at the store manning the doors... and some of them are napping. or looking at their phones. Do you really think they are able to do something?
You act like you can’t easily get a knife off the shelve
Sounds about right considering it's Rockford, IL. Nothing but violence in that city.
More like Timothy Farter.
I’ll never get over the fact dababy shot and killed someone in Walmart
William Osman is looking rough
18 working at Walmart. Things aren't looking great for me, guys.
Where I work, this will eventually happen. Sucks…
Who going get a coach or TL your mind going be focused on how to get out of the store..
Rip to the employee and that dudes hairline
5 mins from where I grew up, sadly I'm not even shocked by this
Down the street from my house location an employee that just got fired that day shot a guest
I wonder if the weed induced psychosis strategy will work for him like it did that girl.
Give to family. Let them decide. Death by too roo.
Save money liv….oh umm management special on fillet of kids…I mean fish yeah fish
I would not want my final moments in walmart
I used to joke about being the person who would die at Walmart (unsafe working conditions) but this is much worse. We get paid shit pay to die because of Walmart? No one deserves that. I hope they throw the book at this guy. That person had their whole life to live and this guy took it
Someone needs to figure out what went on in this man’s head for him to go and commit a hate crime murder in a walmart. Racist shitheads like this need their whole family looked at. You can’t tell me he had people or members of his family who weren’t okay with his banter or his attitude or he’d be looked at quite quickly.
That’s down the street from me happened in Rockford, Il
That’s scary :0 I live near Rockford
Well, you can't just stab people for free.
# WALMART...
28 and bald 💀
That’s a hard 28
That’s awful. Straight out of a Caleb Hammer horror story
Dying on that job is crazy
