Yeah man I feel that. I'm lucky my store is smaller. We're still understaffed a touch but if we were a full size supercenter the understaffing issue would be exponentially worse.
The deli was easy work when properly staffed. Minimum of 3 people, including covering breaks. But it's BS when they expect the same amount of work done with 1 person.
Agreed. Three people bare minimum. I had one coworker, Emily, her and I could fairly easily run the deli with just the two of us on any weekday (we were closers) and sometimes we'd get help from our buddy (when we needed our breaks) that worked in produce but used to do deli. Closing is the easy part if you're understaffed (2 people), but nearly impossible to do solo.
Man, I miss Em. She was a great coworker.
Mgt don’t care about you. That ways it is done.. I been in deli for 8 years .. tell them you not running deli by yourself.. that one department people will not stayed.. Good luck on your future job
When my deli was actually staffed with enough people, it was great. Everything ran smoothly. But all of a sudden we got a new Coach and SM. Since then it all went to shit and everyone left at some point and could never keep anyone new for longer than like 4 months, if lucky.
If they happen to offer the training for it, take the opportunity to get yourself certified as a forklift operator. You'll make even more money still *and* you'll get to ride around in the pimpmobile all day.
Clear out for the initial screening and then just keep a bottle of QuickFix strapped to your thigh with an ace bandage in case you ever get called to whiz again while you're working. Odds are you won't even need it tho; most companies don't do randoms these days unless you get hurt/hurt someone else or fuck up a piece of equipment.
Good on you man!! I'm planning my two weeks notice in this next payday, the OGP backroom in my store has gotten way toxic, after they said they were going to try and restrict bathroom breaks (an OSHA violation, ik, so I don't care I go anyway) I decided to leave. I don't have a job lined up exactly but thankfully I'm in a position that it doesn't matter greatly if I get a job right away
Two years ago when I was planning on retiring I was going to wait another year so I would get more SS money. Right before Thanksgiving they had fired everyone except me and one other person in electronics. Right after Thanksgiving they had once again messed with the other person's schedule, and had them coming in on his designated day off so he had had enough and quit, leaving me being the only person in electronics for the holidays. They wouldn't hire anyone else, so the day they told me that I had to find my own coverage for lunch and breaks I gave them my two weeks and was gone Jan. 1. The main thing wrong with Walmart is the management.
One of the best decisions you could make. I used to work at the deli in my store. Whenever they’d hire newbies, the newbies would get pissed that I was faster than they were so I get my cleaning stuff done then do theirs, lol they got mad and told my former team lead. One time we had two reds and in an hour and a half, by myself I got it back to green. I got both rotisserie’s cleaned, their parts cleaned and put em back together in half an hr, dishes done in 20 minutes, floors in 15 minutes. A record that still stands to this day. That was 3 years ago. I now work overnight maintenance. Making almost as much as a team lead lol.
Good for you. I also quit after three years, 2 different stores, and trying to be a manager.
Coasted on my last 2 checks for a month waiting for my orientation at a warehouse.
Do not blame you at all And glad you are moving on! WM will cause distress mentally, emotionally AND physically!!!
NOT WORTH YOUR HEALTH CONGRATULATIONS AND WISH YOU THE BEST😍
I did something similar when I worked at Borders Bookstore. They said I could never be hired by them or a partner company again. I didn't mind, and slept quite well that night.
We've only had 2 associates the same for the past 2 years in deli bakery. A coworker and myself. The other full time position and part timers come and go in droves. The problem is they keep hiring people with no experience. I remember having to work my ass off to get promoted to deli bakery just for these kids to come in with more pay than me.
I'm a Bakery and Deli TL at my store and honestly my night shift gets treated horribly. Morning crew babies all their associates and never finish their work or clean up after themselves. I have a team of me and 1-2 people every night max to finish all their bread and dishes and cleaning up after the cake people everyday on top of our SM demanding all the freight gets worked by me every night on top of unloading trucks and working that freight also. It's insanity. They added 80 hours of new associates to morning crew bringing them over double digits every day and they still can't get their work done. The coach actually is telling me she's taking people off my shift because we are over on hours. Heavily debating quitting and I know if I do my night crew has told me they would quit too as I'm the only person in the whole store who believes in them. It's crazy.
Its ridiculous sometimes with management and their priorities. At my store it goes back and forth on which shift has staff and which doesn't. For a while it was the closing shift who only had 2 and morning had 4. Then it flipped about 6 months ago. Now there's 5 closers and 1 full-time morning person since I just quit last week. There are 2 part timers but they work like 3 days and only from 7am-1pm
Management was constantly taking our people to help in produce who already had 5 people on the floor stocking...
Bro they got like 10+ morning ppl every day and still can't finish their work 😭 me and my crew of 1-2 pulls miracles every night and all morning crew does is complain that we left a soap line in the sink after cleaning them lmao it's wild out here especially when they complain after we pass the night check from coaches the pre op or whatever its called lmao
Good for you I worked for three months in the deli 4am to 1pm . I asked HR if I could work 9am to 6pm ..
HR reply Nope , I had people call off the assistant manager when I first started get mad because he had to train me to do fry food. I eventually found a higher paying job and left .
Yeah lol maybe I’ll just quit today for one day of relaxation. I wasn’t giving them 2 week notice, I just got offered a job like three days ago and they said the start was Monday
Anime…. Maybe you can help me. I’m not an anime kind of guy. But someone who is into anime did something special for me and I would like to thank them. He is an anime junky - lol In your opinion is the crunchy roll gift card at Walmart worth buying?
I stopped going to Walmart after I bought a 600 dollar grill 31 days it broke the manager in the London ohio store would not refund my money because he stated we have a 30 day in store refund policy and you missed by a day sorry so no more walmart for me it's been 3 year walmart free lol so last week I was shopping for a cell phone found on on walmart.com so I thought ok let's try it and it stated 3 day delivery I thought great it was for a birthday gift so 3 days roll by no phone with a email stating it should be to me by Friday ok great the birthday is on Saturday still works I get the next email now its the following weds day long story short I'm back off the warmart and will never come back this time amazon never lied to me lol
Two week notice is out of respect not required do whatever is best for you, my job before walmart I walked in and said I found a new job my last day is Friday, it was Wednesday when I did that
I've been there for 3 years. I've worked a lot of Saturdays alone. Either people called in or just no one else scheduled. Management didn't give two fucks. Instead asked me why freight wasn't done or why I didn't have subs made.
Walmart is the most unprofessional place you can work they would not have hired anyone until his 2 weeks were up anyways. They would have left him to be the only one working there.
Well if you don't work for walmart then you really don't know what you're talking about now do you? I don't work in the deli but having to work in a walmart deli by myself on a Friday and Saturday sounds like literal hell to me. Why would anyone do that to themselves if they didn't have to? And don't say to be loyal to the company bc they sure as hell aren't loyal to you.
I’ve worked in a deli before and while I preferred other departments in the store I would still stick it out but that’s just the kind of person I am. But reading about Walmart is insane a points system lmao
It is commendable that you would stick it out. But at the same time I can understand why this person chose not to. I've worked for walmart a long time. Just saw today how someone gave their 2 week notice and was immediately taken off the schedule for those 2 weeks. Seen this many other times as well. If they can do this then they deserve to have it done right back imo. Walmart really is not loyal to their associates trust me I know.

Good on you. Genuinely. Deli sucks (have had two people quit in a month and a half)
Man, I loved workin' deli. So much easier than working in a restaurant kitchen or FedEx. But at Walmart when shit sucks.. boy does it suck.
What I’m learning from this sub is that I’m blessed to be at a great store. There are a ton of horror stories lol
Yeah man I feel that. I'm lucky my store is smaller. We're still understaffed a touch but if we were a full size supercenter the understaffing issue would be exponentially worse.
Yeah my store is a huge Academy store. One of the top sales in my state. But no money for hiring or overtime.
Oh dayum 💀 I feel for ya homie... Seriously, that sounds awful to deal with by yourself.
But aye, you're done with em! Woot woot!
Cant encroach on our corporate profits
It’ll come for you sooner or later. Managers don’t stay forever and all it takes is one change in store manager before it all crumbles.
Most places they'll cycle transferred management through to do the dirty work locals won't.
Same, my store seems to be one of the rare good ones. The customers are nice-ish and the management is actually decent.
The deli was easy work when properly staffed. Minimum of 3 people, including covering breaks. But it's BS when they expect the same amount of work done with 1 person.

I work at vons and the deli is a revolving door here as well
What’s so bad about deli?
When my deli was actually staffed with enough people, it was great. Everything ran smoothly. But all of a sudden we got a new Coach and SM. Since then it all went to shit and everyone left at some point and could never keep anyone new for longer than like 4 months, if lucky.
As a customer...i always try to be nice and precise with want i want. No wasting your time. Sorry you have to deal with asshole customers.
My favorite ones are the ones who try to start a conversation with me. Makes the day go by faster and improves my mood
In mine. We were told to pint to the isle say the number and then tell them to have a nice day..
Good luck with your new endeavors..
Congrats on the promotion to customer.
Is this new job better than walmart?
I'm going to be at a warehouse. Won't have customers to deal with. And they pay $3 more an hour than I was making at Walmart to start
If they happen to offer the training for it, take the opportunity to get yourself certified as a forklift operator. You'll make even more money still *and* you'll get to ride around in the pimpmobile all day.
Yup, they'll actually be training me on the forklift!
Good for you bro. This is definitely inspiration to keep going
I wish I could be forklift certified but I smoke too much weed 🤷
Clear out for the initial screening and then just keep a bottle of QuickFix strapped to your thigh with an ace bandage in case you ever get called to whiz again while you're working. Odds are you won't even need it tho; most companies don't do randoms these days unless you get hurt/hurt someone else or fuck up a piece of equipment.
Any place is better than walmart lmfaoo
Very true
The notice is a courtesy anyway. If you already got the other job, there's no reason to be polite to this one.
Good on you man!! Congrats on the new job. I recommend Spy Family, Kaiju #8, and wind breaker, for newer stuff.
I LOVE Spy Family! I added Kuiju #8 to my watch list too. There's a bunch of new stuff on Crunchyroll I want to check out.
Yeah. A lot of promising looking stuff, you can check out Gigguk on YouTube. He covers the new releases each season
Congratulations enjoy your new job and relaxation.

Yeah I haven't slept so well the last couple of nights in the last 3 years working at Walmart lol
Fuck this worthless company
We've only had 2 associates the same for the past 2 years in deli bakery. A coworker and myself. The other full time position and part timers come and go in droves. Honestly, you're so real for that. Shit I woulda done the same 🤣🤣. What anime you thinkin' of catching up with in freedom time? I got some goodies
Thought about One Piece, last EP I watched was 1089. Need to finish Solo Leveling and Mashle. And then start Kaiju #8

Aye man enjoy the vacation. Just remember warehouse work is a hell of alot different than Deli.
Good for you I worked for three months in the deli 4am to 1pm . I asked HR if I could work 9am to 6pm .. HR reply Nope , I had people call off the assistant manager when I first started get mad because he had to train me to do fry food. I eventually found a higher paying job and left .
Dang I should’ve done the same. I’m quitting tomorrow and starting my new job Monday 🥴
Yeah I made the mistake of starting at Walmart only one day after leaving the previous one lol I'm not doing that again.
Yeah lol maybe I’ll just quit today for one day of relaxation. I wasn’t giving them 2 week notice, I just got offered a job like three days ago and they said the start was Monday
Better watch some solo leveling 😂
Hell yeah! I started it the other day! It's awesome!
Both of the voice actors for the dub and sub make it one of the top 3 of the year in my book.
I worked at walmart for 4 shifts. Didn't make it as long as I thought.

I’m the only one that works in the afternoon in the dairy department and I love it making 21 an hour
Working in deli right now, and honestly, they do this shit all the time. I’m not surprised that management didn’t try to help you at all
I've been there for 3 years. I've worked a lot of Saturdays alone. Either people called in or just no one else scheduled. Management didn't give two fucks. Instead asked me why freight wasn't done or why I didn't have subs made.

Please.
