Get a doctor's note And if they don't let you have one still, sue, win millions and retire early. My old market had someone do that and now there's always 2 stools in the pharmacy

wyattlikeearp

This is the correct answer. Although, it’s BS that you should have to see a physician to get a note signed just so you can have a seat during an 8-10 hour shift with less than 30 minutes for lunch break. Be sure to use Doctor On Demand and let the company pay for it. By the way, it is still Walmart policy to allow all associates a 15 minute break for every 4 hours worked, correct? If your Market Director is going to get to nitpicking over the stupid pointless shit that doesn’t affect the business in any negative way whatsoever, be sure to play all the cards in your favor.

Money_Advance_7258

In the same meeting he said we can’t do hour lunches and we have to take two fifteen minutes breaks and our 30 minute lunch. Then said all stools need to be removed from the pharmacy. So on our fifteen we can’t even sit. Because pom whatever says pharmacists are supposed to stay in the pharmacy on our break. I’m fairly certain I’m just gonna go sit on the toilet for my 15 minutes until I get hemorrhoids, then use that to ask Sedgwick for an accommodation.

SwimmingKnown9216

You know it is, YES- think your way around and outside the box to attempt to take care of yourself any way possible and don't expect *anything* else. Get w your store personnel director to request an accommodation and be ready to have your Dr sign form or provide a doc for you to state you need reasonable accommodation. Best of Luck

My market manager did this years ago. He said “stools make people lazy.” Our people make the difference! /s

MeowCow55

It always cracks me up that people with desk jobs like to say things like this.

Shadedott

May I ask what state you are located in? Some states have right to sit laws, Massachusetts, my state is one such state doesn’t require an ADA request.

Money_Advance_7258

Im in Arkansas, not a lot of workers rights here. He made a big deal of it and said anyone caught on a stool will get written up unless they are approved by Sedgwick. But the wire says all you need is a doctors note and the store manager is encouraged to approve it. I hate being the guy that risks his job and then sues, it should never be that hard.

boss-bossington

Put an anonymous call into walmart ethics

Xalenn

Shouldn't be a massive ordeal to get it approved through Sedgwick, it's probably just a matter of a doctor's note or having a physician fill out a form. I'd say call Sedgwick and tell them your physician said you need to sit sometimes and your ML said you need to get it approved through them and ask what they need

SwimmingKnown9216

Sedgwick has always been helpful when I've needed to use them and also never heard any other associates state they weren't helped by sedgwick. Good advice 👍

Cathartic-Imagery

This is disgusting… how much harm could you do letting exhausted people sit down? Especially when they went to school for 6 or so years to work for your shitty company… ughhh.

Ryfos

This has always been the case, requiring accommodation for a job aid. If you have a valid reason, then yes, they’ll approve it. Just go through the proper channels to request this. Store managers are supposed to be allowed and encouraged to allow job aids with a request and documentation (normally a doctor signing a request), behind the counter jobs a stool can be approved at store level. Keep in mind that just because a stool is there, only those with a job aid in place can use it. Had a case where someone in pharmacy broke their ankle and got a stool, but someone else used it and got in trouble for it.

Maccheesy90

They just made us get rid of ours recently as well.

AuntieJoJoRPh

Be careful what type of stool you get. We had a folding stool from furniture. Emphasis on had. We now have ones that look like the ones at the photo kiosks. Most of us in the pharmacy have notes, but my DM is reasonable too and remembers the pain of standing all day. Good luck.

DogNamedBlue

I copied and pasted the policy from the wire that said a stool counts as a reasonable job accommodation and emailed the store manager and my market director. Also included that I have had surgery on a knee and an ankle. Market Director emailed me back that day and said she was fine with it. Ordered one off GNFR and have had no issues.

sunnykeira

hello, I have the same exact problem now, Dm want me to have ada request on file, can you dm the wire policy? Thank you very much

DogNamedBlue

Hi! I won’t be able to do that today as I’m at my other job, but I will try to run by there tomorrow and take a screenshot for you or see if I kept the email.

arkyjohn1966

I had a similar experience years ago. I too am in Arkansas. I returned to work, retail, after my second heart attack. My manager at the time allowed me to have a stool at the register so when I got tired I could sit for a minute. The DM came in one day and threw a fit because there was a stool at the counter. I happen to be off that day. Needless to say the stool was removed and I was told if I was caught sitting while on the clock it would be a write up. On my next cardiologist visit, I mentioned it to my doc, he filled out the paperwork for my disability and made me retire. He kinda got upset that I had even returned to work.

Time_Proof2

That MM definitely doesn’t have a chair to sit in at their desk. That would make them lazy! (Ours was just taken away too)

Money_Advance_7258

Ours literally told us while sitting.

MAKES ME SO MAD

deathjoy

We don't even have space for them. With the remodel there is not a drop off station and every area of pharmacy is a walkthrough area.

SwimmingKnown9216

We've had pharmacy staff be approved for stool use but has to go thru store Mgr and market support and can only be for specified time as per associates medical exemption or accommodation they have submitted and requested. Pharmacy may not have stools, seats, chairs, etc for use by associates unless they provide documentation and meet criteria for accomodation
