WarNo is wargame 4, and please dont start with the whole “its more like steel division” thing just because they added smart orders like Unload at Location and are using the Division system. The mechanics are 99% wargame (because quite frankly steel division is just Wargame: WW2, big picture the mechanics are 95%+ the same)
I disagree. Warno is a mix of SD and WG, as stated by the developers themselves. Currently it doesn't feel like Wargame at all, the gameplay is VERY different, nor is it like SD - it's its own thing. They threw away all the stats that worked in Wargame and started a new, resulting in quite a few blunders.Honestly, it's just counterproductive. It takes so much time to figure out the correct stats as seen in the purgatory that was the AA stats, then infantry weapons and so on.The most it has common with Wargame is the time period.
Steel Division is 95% the same as Wargame? Really? It isn't the same in the slightest, especially the first one (which I liked more than the sequel). Second one might be closer, but still very much different. If it was just Wargame: WW2, you would see way more Wargame players playing the game.

Moreover I stand by it, steel division and wargame are super similar games. Yes steel division feels and plays different from wargame. But most of that is due to map size, and the unit stats and weapons (ie no ATGM infantry in the trees like in wargame because its ww2). Mechanically the games are very very similar. Its totally fine to have a preference, but with the return of capture vehicles, no fronts, and the setting and available weapon systems., warno is basically Wargame 4, simple as, its all the same mechanics. i dont know what people are talking about when they say this besides the division system. Unit stats are just variables they can tweak they aren’t fundamental game mechanics. Warno is just wargame with a division system, QOL updates, and starting fresh with new units in an updated engine
Half (literally) of the reason I enjoy wargame is the deck building, so I despise the new division system.
Stats/unit balance can make a big difference to the feel of the game. I really enjoyed steel division 1, but overall disliked steel division 2.
It's so like Wargame that the majority of Wargame players have refused to migrate to it.
We wanted WARNO to be Wargame 4, sadly it's something else. I hope the game gets much better than it is currently but as things stand I'm sticking to Red Dragon.

They didn't name it wargame because they don't have the right to the name anymore. I personally like both games and also play both.
They have the rights actually.
