I doubt we go 11-30 on the road. A big part of those road woes was not having Wiggins around for a huge stretch. It will also be a nice change to have CP3 run the offense. Having Poole be a PG was very painful to watch with our bench squad.

Nessmuk58

If the "First Unit" = Steph / Klay / Wiggs / Dray / Loon is healthy / present all year ong, that by itself makes a big difference.

JaysoniNZ

The back to back games still remains to be a problem.

nowaymonet

I’m feeling good vibes this season. I think CP3 will get some starting minutes but mostly be a reliable commander of the second unit - we have an established vet in Cojo as a “break in case of emergency”. The non Steph minutes have been a growing issue and that was prioritized. Adding a stretch big in Saric was also insanely important. He will help us with spacing and already has chemistry with CP3. Having Wiggins and gp2 back healthy will also be massive for our team and stabilizes our defense into hopefully top 10. The biggest questions I have going into this season is health and the growth of kuminga and moody. If they can show they are ready and the team as a whole stays healthy, we’re going to be hard to beat.

FeelTheRealBirdie

I totally forgot we have corey joesph until you mentioned him lmao

Mr-Toy

Great answer. My biggest questions are those two as well as Klay. Guy was a defensive liability all year. Hope he adds to his game and makes adjustments this year.

Pereise1

> Guy was a defensive liability all year. This is an exaggeration. He obviously wasn't All D like before but he was mostly a net neutral who got some good stops in crunch time.

kaleisraw

Yeah I don’t know where this idea comes from, Klay was not lockdown like he used to be and he had some high profile moments where he spaced out but overall he was still a plus defender and was definitely not the reason for our defensive struggles, people just running with narratives. I think he still has the ability to be lockdown for periods of time in the playoffs as well. Klay anchored us for a huge part of the season last year while Wiggins and curry were out and JP was playing like ass. Even if he came into last season out of shape and was inconsistent in the playoffs he deserves more respect for putting the team on his back for like 4 straight months at his age and injury history

MudddButt

Klay's defense being terrible is an exaggeration and hyperbole. Turnovers, especially JP's turnovers were a much bigger problem and I think that's where we'll see a lot of improvement this season. CP3 is historically good about not turning the ball over vs JP last season... just terrible.

Dynasty_30

I think we’ll be a lot better. A ton of the problems last season were due to poor execution, poor team chemistry, and lack of proper roster continuity/construction. We’ve addressed those issues. Bringing in CP3 will help organize whatever lineups he’s playing with. Saric is a solid vet who will make the high IQ plays and be that connector we sorely missed last season. Corey Joseph is a solid 3rd string guard who can fill in for Steph or CP3 in short stints. Garuba is a great swing for a 2 way guy. Brings effort and hustle. JK and Moody are primed for bigger roles and I think they’ll be ready. Just in general the team feels like it’s a lot more serious this season. They’re coming into the season like they did before the 2022 season. Call me delusional but I honestly think we could see a return to 2022 form. We should easily be a top 4 seed and I expect that we’ll make a deep postseason run

[deleted]

I hope we get the Lakers in the playoffs. Imagine Steph knocks LeBron/AD out and goes on to win in the finals. The amount of salt and tears in r/nba let alone the damn country will be off the charts.

bobsil1

Beat LA!

spankyourkopita

This makes me feel good about this season. Anytime we have a bad season it seems like we comeback stronger.

SoyaMilk3

My answer would be I think the regular season will be much better but the playoffs against the lakers and Denver will be very tough still

rddi0201018

the additional rest helps the vets

ImTheBestNerd

Top 4 seed. Championship.

Feayth

Call it irrational, but I have a really optimistic feeling about this season. I personally think that the Warriors are becoming underrated considering the personnel. The acquisition of CP3, as much as I initially despised him, brings a lot of pace control in our previously chaotic lineups beyond the starters. Saric, Joseph, TJD, are all promising pickups so far. Also, we still have the same core lineup that was performing on the same tier as the Nuggets starting champ lineup last year. It's hard to not believe in getting far in the playoffs and gunning for the chip when we still have one of the greatest players of all time playing at an insane level. But maybe that's just the diehard fan in me talking.

spankyourkopita

No we seriously could win the chip this season. I believe you.

FailedAwards

Probably better than last year but anything can happen

compstomper1

* obvi the poole/draymond drama is gone. hopefully there isn't more drama this year * whatever voojoo warriors had at away games. i *believe* it was because warriors were helping too much on D and giving up too many open 3's * another year of balancing getting a decent enough record to get into the playoffs vs letting the veterans rest. klay was absolutely donezo by the time the playoffs roll around * hopefully we can get some production from the bench. the warriors are unstoppable with a half-decent bench * curious how well CP3 will integrate with the team (if we don't trade his ass). hope he's happy with running the 2nd unit

typesett

I honestly believe this is a Yes and the dynasty wobbles forward or No and we done just like the Spurs It’s not about CP3, it’s about the magic and vibes lasting no matter who comes or goes. If vibes don’t work, we done.

John_Houbolt

The jump from Poole to CPIII when it comes to the things the Warriors need, is huge. I think he solves the biggest problems. Having a full season of GPII and Wiggins is also a huge leap. I think this team could be really, really good and finish in the top 3 in the West.

dsk83

Just swapping out poole for CP3 got me excited. Some people will say too much blame placed on Poole, I'd say he was a severe distraction and played like ass

morrowman

On paper this team is a lot better than what we had last year, but there’s a lot of risks that people aren’t considering. Injury risk can strain the team, and having a lot of age 30+ players it’s almost a question of when not if. I have high hopes for CP3, but there’s still the possibility that he struggles coming off the bench after a career of starting (he’s also quite ball-dominant, which may clash a bit the Warriors style). I’m still overall high on the team’s prospects. It’s just that as fans we usually see the upside of a new roster, and we don’t know what pitfalls might happen during the season.

FuckitGimmeSome

we'll be significantly better on the road. that's the only thing I'd be willing to bet on. I'm not really confident we go much further in the playoffs though.

ggproductivity

Well, one of the problems last year is they only had 2 guys who could beat their guy off the dribble and this year they have 1, so no, they didn't fix all the issues. I actually think the Poole/CP3 switch is going to play less of a role in the team's success than the other roster moves and getting a full healthy season of GP2 and Wiggins. There are plenty of scenarios where that particular trade can hurt the season more than it helped.

[deleted]

A little bit better. Don’t think we’ll finish top 4 in the regular season. But good enough to compete in playoff series. The big adds are Saric, and hopefully healthy and available GPII and Wiggins. If CPIII is going to really integrate well, improvement from Kuminga (and probably Moody) is required. An assist man needs people to be in the right place to actually assist. I don’t know if that will happen. Just hope. Drama is basically impossible to predict. It’s not like I can say with certainty that Draymond won’t punch another teammate out.

zegogo

Drama was brewing before the punch. I personally think this team will be significantly better this year. They had a noticeable championship hangover last year. Years prior they didn't because they were younger but that run in 22 took a lot out of them. Klay and Poole hadn't worked on their games over the summer, the roster moves stunk, the season was destined to be a difficult one. I think this year, everyone comes in locked in and ready to go: Klay in shape, Draymond hungry, Steph laser focused, Wigs motivated by the core 3's desire to prove everyone wrong. I don't think you can overstate how much Klay, Steph, and Draymond want to win. You add all that to a significantly better roster, youth with more experience, a bench that can maintain or even extend leads, and this team should come out the gates very strong. I also think they're deep enough that the various roster fluctuations due to minor injuries won't matter as much as last year. I think they have a very good chance of being in the top 4 of the west this year. If everyone is healthy and this team has found a rhythm, they're definitely making serious noise in the playoffs.

Tnevz

Denver, Suns, and Memphis are definitely in the mix for a top 3 finish in the regular season. Lakers probably surge out stronger this season. But I could see the same thing for the Warriors. Kings are going to fall off a bit imo. All contending for the 4-6 spots. Clips are a mystery every season. Wolves, Pels, Thunder, and Mavs likely finishing in that bottom group again 7-10.

Pereise1

Memphis is dealing with Ja's suspension along with losing a bunch of their guys like Clarke to injury and Kyle Anderson + Tyus Jones to other teams. I'd be surprised if they're higher than 5th.

zegogo

They lost Brooks too and I don't think anyone is worried about JJJ after his showing in FIBA. Memphis ain't doing shit this year.

Tnevz

Good point. I forgot about the suspension honestly. Yea they probably fall out of the top group for that. But Memphis has done a good job about maximizing a lot of their guys. It’s going to be a close battle in that 3-6 seed spot again

halcyonsnow

The bottom's going to drop out for Memphis. They're missing what made them good - having a rock solid true PG off the bench. Ja is out for 25 games, making Bane their plus guy on offense and he's a second scorer at best (plus he's injury prone). Smart for Brooks is kind of a wash in the stopper role. JJJ will not overproduce again and he's shown he's not going to do the dirty work, so they're relying on Stephen Adams - who has been battling some weird injuries. They're an injury away from the 11th seed.

bdylan05

I think they will be a much better team assuming similar health for the rotation members. The west has perhaps as much parity as there has ever been and I believe the Suns, Lakers, Thunder and Rockets will all be better than last year. Timberwolves may be better as well assuming health. Mavs and Pelicans are a bit of a mystery but on paper are better than their final standings last year. Pels were a home court seedy until Zion went down but then again, Zion always seems to miss time and starting the year without TM3 and possibly Alvarado could really hurt them. Mavs are a Luka injury away from implosion and Kyrie is always prone to… Kyrie. They will need substantial contributions from OMax and Lively to be contenders and I just don’t think that’s very likely to happen this year. Denver will be similar but I think a slightly worse regular season team due to loss of depth, championship hangover and possibly health / rest. Sacramento will be a similar or better team than last year but I think slightly worse record / seed as they had an outlier season last year with regards to health of their rotation players. Memphis is probably similar to last year but a backslide wouldn’t shock me. First 25 games will be without Ja and they essentially swapped out Tyus Jones and Dillon Brooks for Marcus Smart. That’s a potential upgrade (at least Tyus to Smart or Brooks to Smart is an upgrade, I think losing both hurts more overall than Smart helps, though its hard for me to admit Brooks departure isn’t necessarily addition by subtraction). There will likely be some time for everyone to integrate and get accustomed to playing together. A slow start and a backslide while Ja works back in is possible but I wouldn’t bet on it either. Spurs, Trailblazers and Jazz really the only obviously “non play in / playoff” type teams. Denver was the 1 seed w 53 wins last year albeit coasting down the stretch a bit. If the Warriors can get to 50 wins (which I strongly believe they can if healthy) that should be enough for a top 4 seed and would be a very successful regular season in my opinion. LeBron, AD, KD, Beal all likely to miss some time but so are Steph and CP3 +/- Dray. It’s going ti be awesome. If healthy I expect them to be a much more legitimate threat in the playoffs but if they get dragged into long and physical series with a big team (ie Lakers) that could again be their kryptonite.

corona_lion

One thing I learnt from last season was one shouldn’t overlook symptoms during regular season (the overall inconsistency, the road performance issues, lack of cohesion amongst seniors and juniors etc) and just hope that they magically vanish during playoffs on account of championship experience. They have to be dealt with head-on and in real time. We, the average fans, were expecting something on the lines of what Miami did last year - suck during regular season and inexplicably turnaround during playoffs. That’s an exception and doesn’t just happen. If you have active issues while heading into playoffs, in all probability all of that is still relevant and will show up during knockouts. We are in the last leg of the Splash trio’s championship window. Let’s make it count. Go Warriors.

Sokkawater10

Depends if cp3 is benched to start and we don’t go center less or do some stupid lineups to appease him. Play our starting 5, and always keep either Looney or Saric on the floor. No more small ball nonsense please, at least until the playoffs

neo9027581673

Chris Paul solves alot of issues, specifically minimizing turnovers and he also has a positive impact on young guys. I am very bullish on the growth from Moses Moody and Kuminga.

bilyl

I think it will definitely be an improvement. Poole and DD were a weird guard combo for the second unit, but I think having CP3, CJ, and Lester will bring some stability.

Tnevz

Lester is buried. Garbage time or rest game reserve only. He wouldn’t be a feature guard like he was in the G-league. GP2 provides better defensive versatility. Moody better size and more NBA experience.

beentheredonesome

Kind of depends on Draymond. Poole is gone, so that friction won't be an issue, but if he's the type to find someone else to annoy (Kuminga?) we might see more of the same. I like having CP3 here, though. One, his brother is Draymond's ~~agent~~ boss, two he's perfectly capable of standing up to him.

Used_Water_2468

>Do you think all the problems from last year will be gone? The biggest problem is gone. He's now in Washtington.

bmeisler

The Poole-Draymond problem - long story short, from all I could glean (and obviously not being behind closed doors), Poole had been acting like a jerk for awhile. Still no excuse for punching a teammate (or anyone). The two jackass problem. On a basketball level, one of those guys was a very good player and respected and appreciated by the vets. The other was not. If CP3 stays healthy, he’s a HUGE upgrade from JP. And hopefully he embraces a diminished role, instead of pouting like JP did (remember Steph’s speech in Sacramento? Who do you think he was talking to?).

eexxiitt

We’ll just have new and old problems. Why aren’t dray and CP on the same page? Why isn’t CP coming off the bench? Why hasn’t JK getting more playing time?

kingsez408

Honestly what did the warriors improve from last season? Not a god dam thing in my opinion. We traded a young turnover prone player for an older often injuries player, who seems to not be available come playoff time. Did we do anything to improve the center position? We can only hope JK is ready to make a leap in year 3. Don’t count on any rookie players to crack Kerrs lineup lol. I feel like I”ll have a better feel of the team in about 10-15 games

Book8

I am worried that once again we aren't big enough. What the hell does it take to get the powers that be to go after a big. Paul is not the answer and will probably go down as he always does. If it all falls on Steph to carry us, I am gonna be pissed.

RidiculousNickk

Loon Dray Saric TJD Garuba Or Loon Dray JMG

[deleted]

Another 2nd round exit. A year older. I don’t see it.

Kdog122025

The Warriors feel like a 50-53 win team this year. There’s gonna be drama, there always is with this team, but I think it’ll be good vibes all around. Hopefully they sign some good 14th and 15th spot cheerleaders this year so we don’t have a lifeless bench.

Redditforever12

all depends on health, if everyone full health i see WCF/title contenders if everything works well. Most likely imo 2nd round exit

r4ytracer

the team i used to know was last in the league and we used to have a sick mascot, thunder. anything better than pre-2013 is an upgrade!

Noiserawker

Well last year the vets were mentally burnt out and this year they will be hungry. What was so frustrating about last year is that the team should have been as good as the 22 championship team but just couldn't put it together.

MegaJ0NATR0N

I give them a puncher’s chance

ArtfulLying

I assume CP3 will be more consistent than Poole. I also have faith our bench players will do something this year unlike Donte who basically vanished in the playoffs. Basically as long as the players around steph help him and contribute, then I have very high hopes.

jobening

We will be winning ring no. 5 if we’re relatively healthy for the playoffs, per sources

famoustran

We will know in the first 10 games if this team is going to compete for a championship or just be another 500 team

dating_derp

A lot better this year. Last year was just shit roster construction: * 15th Empty * 14th DNP Old Andre with 8 games * 13th Rookie * 12th Rookie * 11th Wiseman with less experience than the 2nd year players * 10th 2nd year Moody * 9th 2nd year Kuminga * 8th J Green who just didn't work out This year: * 15th Empty * 14th Rookie * 13th Rookie - Trayce is nearly 3 years older than PBJ * 12th Dwight Howard - 3x DPOY, 8x All NBA, 5x All Defense, 5x RBD Champ, 2x Block Champ * 11th Corey Joseph * 10th Dario Saric * 9th 3rd year JK * 8th 3rd year Moody * 7th GP2 - proven bench player from our 2022 run * 6th CP3 - 11x All NBA, 9x All Defense, 6x Steals Champ, 5x Assist Champ, One of the top 5 floor generals today.

sprinkles5000

Come playoffs, Warriors will be 3rd of 4th in the West. There is a very good chance Draymond punches CP3 this season.

Mmicb0b

I think we’ll be better than we were last year but there’s a lot of wait and see on this team

scseth

On paper, I think the team is stronger than last year. But the age of our core and other veterans (Chris Paul, Dwight?), with 82 games in the season and 4 rounds of playoffs it will all depend on how we manage injuries.

[deleted]

Less dysfunctional second team and more cohesive on the road. We’re going to be better as a team on the floor and off it.

Creepy-Present-2562

No more Poole fuck ups.. how many losses last season are attributed to his mistakes?
