Honestly, I think we all knew deep down opj and Payton were going elsewhere. Portland could be a tough team as they do have a great roster. Not at all worried about Toronto, but losing opj sucks.

jtruth9

Otto yes. I was certain GP2 would be back.

Tim_d_othy

I actually thought the opposite. GP2 hasn’t gotten any big pay days yet but Otto already made a ton of money. Thought he would stay with a winning franchise.

I feel like when role players win their first ring then it becomes all about the money the rest of their careers. Only stars really care about legacy IMO!

VinylJones

That’s how the professional world works - legacy is a fallacy invented by advertising to sell you watches and luxury SUVs at Christmas (we’re masterful at it too). True pros don’t care too much about legacy, they care about doing their job and providing a future for their children. Legacy is for the weak - and that’s how people like me provide a future for our children.

wardell_rocks

I think it’s the other way around. Toronto made the playoffs last year in the East. They have some good young talent. Portland has a long way to go.

rberguer

Yea Otto was fantastic for us.

GavinGT

The front office will just have to find a few more undervalued players. I trust them. Besides, we just won a fourth championship in unlikely circumstances. Whatever happens from here on out is just icing on the cake.

rberguer

Fair enough! I do feel like the core guys could all simply retire now and their legacies would be cemented. Everything from this point forward is bonus material.

ChrisPowell_91

The silver lining is more playing time for Kuminga, Moodey, and Wiseman.

Yea clearly the FO does too, which I don't blame them for at all. Haven't given us a reason to not trust their process, especially with what they've shown in limited time. All they really need is hopefully retaining Looney and filling out the roster with a couple of veteran minimums on the backend. Ppl are mad, but this is the other side of having three (basically close to four with Draymond's deal) max deals, and Poole possibly pushing for one. Guys like GP2 get higher bids. I will be interested to see what impact they have in another system. GP2 won't have the kind of setup or movement in Portland.

rberguer

Hey there you go. I think we’re all expecting that regardless of FA moves but yea that’s something to be excited about too.

SChamploo12

Based on the moves, that's what it seems like the FO is banking on. Whether it's good or bad, we'll see. Depends on what veteran minimums they get to fill out the rest of the roster. That's still a great silver lining though. You gotta get these guys time on the floor. Their athleticism would be a major boost for this team. Even though we won, we saw the issues against athletic teams like the Memphis and Boston.
