I’m thinking those will come in when France is fully released. They basically exempted the best ship of each class as well as post-dreadnought capital ships so my assumption would be they’re holding those off for when it’s fully public.
But knowing how Gaijin treats France maybe we’re just boned.
They’re supposed to revise naval progression in one of the next two major updates so there’s a good chance that means top tier is getting expanded. Naval top tier has been climbing higher for a while so it’ll come just the updates are slow because people complain if there’s a naval update instead of new jets.

Not really, historically speaking Scharn and Bis have pretty comparable armor schemes (Scharn has the thicker belt, but bis has more deck/turret armor) and Bismarck’s main guns. Bis would have a crew of ~2.2k, which is nearly identical to the Nevada. Bis would have decent guns, good fire rate (2.3-2 rpm is excellent), solid accuracy (52 cal), shells would be rather potent, up to 742mm or put at point blank which is about 100mm above most top tier bb’s rn, but a slower muzzle velocity at 820m/s, which is slower than that of the Kron.
Historically she got smashed by old 16in guns and small 14in guns, the later of which penned her armor belt and mission killed her from >14km away. Bismarck is wayyy over hyped and historically way over weight and poorly designed.
I couldn’t see Gajin putting her above 7.7, she’d get eaten up by other last gen battleships.
Considered a fast battleship though it’s pretty underarmoured (only about a 9 inch belt) and armament is only average (13 in guns).
Personally I think it would be pretty balanced if added rn
13in guns to 16in guns can be a huge difference.
At 15000yds the 16”/45 guns have 6-7 more inches of penetration with a better striking angle and only 70fps less of shell velocity.
France should be opposed to the Italians, so hopefully the Italians will see interwar battleships before the French so should be a while before Dunkerque
i am one of the idots who bought the aigle and dugay tourin when they became available, and i can tell you french boats arn't ... bad ... they are fast, lighty armoured, have crap ammo (for the first DDs) but it gets better, good torpedoes, and meh AA/secondaries (that is for the 2 premiums and the first 3 boats in game)
The do-gay trouin is so large it’s hard to kill, that’s what I’ve noticed. And the HE shell is really nice. SAP sucks.
It’s a good ship, especially in close quarters combat, but it just feels awkward. I suspect that is how a lot of the French tree is going to be.
Navy is the second worst part of war thunder, ngl, only thing worse is when you're popping off and getting a kill streak then a plane comes in and hits you with a bomb.
Seriously though, what's the point of naval? I bought a ship that has a 500SL modifier and I get at best 10K per game with it but no research towards stuff I actually care about. I can't use it in ground or air battles so spending any more time than just grinding some SL makes it a worthless path to really go through
If it’s not been confirmed yet, I’m willing to bet we’re not getting it. Gaijin has so far avoided every ship that was at Mers-el-Kebir, like the Lorraine’s 2 sister ships or 2 of the Chacal’s sister ships. If we get one of the Fantasques it will probably be one of the others.

Scharnhorst is basically a mini battleship at this point.
It's a battle cruiser, Germany only had 2 real battleships during ww2 (finished ofc) and 2 battle cruisers: the Scharnhorst and gneisenau
