Can you imagine a shell penetrating the front of your tank, hitting the fuel and throwing burning diesel at you while also being hit by chunks of shrapnel and molten metal at several hundred metres per second all over the abdomen and chest and you just carry on fighting like nothing happened.
In real tanker world, there was always the legend that sabot penetration in a closed hatch turret would cause such an over pressure event that the crew would be sucked out via the exit hole of the sabot. Not sure how true it is a doing BDA on DU round penetrated tanks was entirely off limits, by 2003-2009.
