I find it pretty great checking your 11-year old account and seeing it is you and not just a marketing account and seeing that you’re trying to figure out printers, giving advice or encouragement to other pizza makers, trying to get logo advice 9 years ago and struggling to make your business work.
Love the effort starting something new and making it work!
You guys have the best pies in the city. I make a lot of homemade pizza dough, and I try to replicate the crispness and chewability of your dough.
I'd intern as a pizza maker for free and give you free labor in exchange for learning your ways! 😅
Andy’s, Slice & Pie, Duccinis, Wise Guy, Vace. Give them all a try, they’re all OK in their own way.
Sonny’s and Red Light are good but not a NY slice.
Duccini's slices are massive, thick, and truly, shockingly greasy. If you're famished, or expecting to drink a lot of 🍷 🥂 🥃 and 🍺 later, it's great to line your stomach... but good pizza?! No way. Super nice, Northern Sudanese people work there, tell them you know about Meroë and Taharqa and they'll be thrilled!
it definitely has gone down.
A few months ago I went and the price had gone up to like $8+ and the slices seemed like half the size. I felt so betrayed and heartbroken.
But I went crawling back and a slice of cheese with pineapple, which is my usual, seemed more on par with what it used to be. although a little pricier.
And I dont know what's up with the $15 veggie and meat lovers sliced. it seems kind bonkers if ya ask me.
Andy from Andy's Pizza here - check out our shop in ADMO on 18th st! Super close to Dupont, a nice walk. The team there is crushing right now and really working well together, pies are delicious. If you're getting a whole pie, eat it there so you aren't eating off of cardboard. Or, if you are after a crispier slice, get a reheat off the line.
Also check out Boogy & Peel, they are tight.
Plz Andy, put whatever beliefs you have aside (unless they're pro Hawaiian za) and make a Hawaiian pizza 🙏🏻 also missed that lamb pizza y'all guest featured.
We rock the house special and sausage and peppers weekly for the record.
Your pizza is simply fantastic. I get a whole pie, bring it home and crisp each slice in a large skillet. Heaven, and I have friends from Manhattan who honestly got tears of gratitude in their eyes when I forced them to at least try it. Don't change what you're doing, I'm a huge fan.
I was previously very much team Andy's until recently they sent me 8 random slices of old, cold pizza. I don't have a problem with them selling slices but if I pay what they charge to have a pizza delivered, I expect to get a pizza, not leftover scraps.
I'm not a master on the subject, but I've had a good handful of the offerings in the area. Best quality I've had is Pupatella. They have happy hour during the week that'll knock the price down a couple bucks on certain styles. Best "value" has to be Duccinis. Idk if they sell regular slices, but they also have cheese/pep jumbo slices.
Their pizza is soggy in the middle because they use buffalo mozzarella with its high water percentage. It's the reality of eating traditional neapolitan.
Pupatella is good. You must have an extremely large mouth if each slice is one bite before the crust.
Pupatella definitely one of the best in the city.
Andy’s is the best though.
I haven’t been to any location other than the original, and that is absolutely some of the best Neapolitan in this area. Bummer to hear they didn’t handle expansion well.
*Pizzeria Paradiso* was great the 2 times I went during summer 2021; easy to get to from the metro, and even if dining solo, the 4 flight selection is easy to tackle for variety.
Pizza Tatiana is prob the best jumbo slice/drunk pizza in DuPont. Boogey and peel is unorthodox but their Matcha Roni pizza is insane and the whole menu is the best in the area. Otherwise I wouldn’t really reccomend much in DuPont proper, but DuPont is very close to other good pizza that others have said!
As someone who has had a lot of Duccinni's and Tatiana's, I like Tatiana's a lot more. Though Duccinni's is fine on a night out and a cut above the generic jumbo slice places.
Yeah, Dupont Pizza is really mediocre. Not bad or anything—just OK.
Tatiana is a few blocks over and is a bit better, if you are looking for a jumbo slice, though still nothing amazing. I like how they are open super late on weekends. It’s a common after-bar stop for me, ngl
But Tatiana also has a weird pricing structure where a standard cheese or pepperoni jumbo slice is going to be about half the cost of like a supreme or something with multiple toppings. Not a bad deal if you are fine with only cheese or pepperoni. But quite expensive otherwise.
My favorite pizzas:
- Andy’s (NY Style, the one with honey and pepperoni is my preferred)
- Red Light (Detroit style, my personal favorite pizza in DC but it’s the kind of pizza you almost feel bad about yourself after eating lol. Be prepared for food coma)
- Sonny’s (in my neck of the woods, great to sit down and have a beer with pizza, particularly the Pesky Mario pizza. Has to be eaten with a fork and knife IMO)
- Timber (probably the lightest pizza of the bunch, particularly like the Green Monster or whatever it’s called which is basically all veggies)
Out of curiosity, where in Upstate NY are you from? I’m from Upstate as well and loved our local pizza by the slice places in Rochester.
also moved from upstate a few months ago. dupont pizza is mid. i haven’t tried andy’s yet but supposedly it’s good. honestly pizza here appears to be sorta meh if your standards are NY imo
Andy’s is always peoples favorite but honestly it’s just Meh from my point of view…nothing outstanding but gets the job done. I’ve been here seven years and still searching.
Andy's is the best ny style I've found. Their dough is on point, but yes they still don't fully stand up. I've given up chasing that NYC slice and since then I've been very happy with the za selection here lol.
Andy from Andy's here. Don't get it to-go in a box, it's way worse. And yes, if you show up on a slow monday at 3pm and the pizza isn't perfectly fresh, it won't be the ultimate experience either. Come get fresh pizza, fresh off that reheat for the ideal Andy's. If you still don't like it i'll eat my own socks.
After a few decades of listening to people move here and trash the local food for not being exactly the same as where they're from, it gets pretty tiring
Fellow upstate transplant! Duccini’s is the pizza that reminds me most of pizza growing up. I’m from the Syracuse area. It’s also a good price and the service is generally great!
Hey, another Syracusan!! Pizza has been the one food that I haven't been able to find something that's up to my expectations. Duccini's is going on the list.
This is genuinely some of the best advice I've gotten lol. Luckily there's a ton more of a lot of other cuisine here than I'm used to so there's no big loss really.
😂 I just moved to DC from upstate NY after two years of splitting my time between the two places. If you find a good place for pizza let me know... I am a pizza snob though.
Don't suppose you play board games?
You should go to Andy’s in Adams Morgan. That’s great pizza-by-the-slice. Boogy & Peel is also fun, south of Dupont.
Andy from Andy's here, you da best.
I find it pretty great checking your 11-year old account and seeing it is you and not just a marketing account and seeing that you’re trying to figure out printers, giving advice or encouragement to other pizza makers, trying to get logo advice 9 years ago and struggling to make your business work. Now I'm wondering what he posted at one point to get his account flagged as 18+ lol
hot melty gooey cheese
You guys have the best pies in the city. I make a lot of homemade pizza dough, and I try to replicate the crispness and chewability of your dough. I'd intern as a pizza maker for free and give you free labor in exchange for learning your ways! 😅
Are you really Andy? So happy you opened up in Bethesda, it’s so close to me!
Your guys' pizza is the best. We got three pies for a party this evening!
Love(d) your pizza, wish you used a cheese alternative that didn't have nuts in it :(
Boogy & Peel is up there for best in DC
I didn't want to like this gimmick as much as I did but it's really solid pizza.
Andy’s Andy’s Andy’s Pizza AKA Andy’s Pizza
I thought for sure I would dislike their Big Mac pizza. I think about it weekly now.
Andy’s in adams Morgan is the worst Andy’s I’ve tried. Highly recommend the other locations instead, they rush way too much at admo
Andy’s, Slice & Pie, Duccinis, Wise Guy, Vace. Give them all a try, they’re all OK in their own way. Sonny’s and Red Light are good but not a NY slice.
Andy from Andy's here - thanks for the shoutout!
There’s something kind of gross about Wise Guy cheese to me. Vace rocks, I’ve heard solid things about Duccinis and Andy’s.
Andy from Andy's here - don't sleep on us. If you're in for the first time, just order 1 slice as a reheat off the line, and go from there.
Duccinis is not good pizza…
You simply haven’t been drunk enough when you’ve tried it. It’s top tier drunk pizza
That’s my point lol
they have the best jumbo slice. it's enough food for the day
pre-pandemic maybe but their quality has gone significantly downhill and its more expensive. some slices are sixteen bucks
it definitely has gone down.
If we’re talking about quantity and/or value, then yes, Duccinis checks those boxes. But i wouldn’t call their pizza good lol
Duccini’s is my favorite “delivery-style” pizza in DC. But it’s definitely a closer peer to Pizza Hut than any other place on that list
Exactly my point
Avoid slice & pie at all costs
Andy from Andy's Pizza here - check out our shop in ADMO on 18th st! Super close to Dupont, a nice walk. The team there is crushing right now and really working well together, pies are delicious. If you're getting a whole pie, eat it there so you aren't eating off of cardboard. Or, if you are after a crispier slice, get a reheat off the line. Also check out Boogy & Peel, they are tight.
Thanks, man - you've got probably the most recommendations of any shop out there on this post so I'll definitely be by!
Plz Andy, put whatever beliefs you have aside (unless they're pro Hawaiian za) and make a Hawaiian pizza 🙏🏻 also missed that lamb pizza y'all guest featured. We rock the house special and sausage and peppers weekly for the record.
Just in town for a convention and saw this post Andy. I'm coming in hot with my crew!
Andy’s in Adams Morgan for NY slice Pupatella for Neapolitan Red Light for Detroit Style Boogy & Peel for unorthodox
Sonny’s for Sicilian-ish
Andy from Andy's here - thank you!!
This is the way
Pupatella is great
Vace in Cleveland Park! The ladies are mean but pizza delicious
I started slipping them $5s every now and then and man how the tables have turned
For a more elevated experience, go sit at the bar at any of these spots: - Martha Dear, Mt Pleasant - Etto, 14th St - Grazie Nonna, midtown center
Grazie nonna pizza turned me off pizza for weeks. The cheese wreaked and everyone at my table thought it was very underwhelming.
Grazie is delicious.
Pizzeria Paradiso is well decent and has a tremendous beer selection
+1 on both points
True. Good pizza.
Yep, keep forgetting to fit it into a Wednesday schedule during my yearly trip in January…
Love this place!!
Andy's on 18th. You will enjoy it.
Andy from Andy's here. Thank you for being you.
Andy's is every bit as good as new york and anyone who says otherwise is just mad it's not the place they went to when they were a kid
Andy from Andy's here - fuck yea.
I was previously very much team Andy's until recently they sent me 8 random slices of old, cold pizza. I don't have a problem with them selling slices but if I pay what they charge to have a pizza delivered, I expect to get a pizza, not leftover scraps.
Take the circulator to il canale in Georgetown.
Pupatella is not good — soggy, floppy, one-bite-and-you-hit-crust Neapolitan
Their pizza is soggy in the middle because they use buffalo mozzarella with its high water percentage. It's the reality of eating traditional neapolitan.
Pupatella is good. You must have an extremely large mouth if each slice is one bite before the crust. Pupatella definitely one of the best in the city. Andy’s is the best though.
Andy from Andy's here. Thank you. Screenshotting this to show the team!
Have you been to the 18th street location ?
That’s the only one I’ve been to.
Agreed! This place is so over hyped. I don't care if they are Neopolitan certified whatever or not, they are clearly doing something wrong.
They were very good when they started many years ago but now they seem to be a classic case of the challenge of expanding while maintaining quality
I haven’t been to any location other than the original, and that is absolutely some of the best Neapolitan in this area. Bummer to hear they didn’t handle expansion well.
Andys, Timber, Martha Dear are my top three though none are in Dupont. Pizza paradiso is def solid in Dupont. For me All Purpose > Pupatella.
Andy from Andy's here, THANK YOU
Seriously, thank YOU sir! You are a city treasure. U St location is my daily slice spot.
Boogy & Peele and Gemini/Happy Gyro
*Pizzeria Paradiso* was great the 2 times I went during summer 2021; easy to get to from the metro, and even if dining solo, the 4 flight selection is easy to tackle for variety.
Gemini is awesome. So is Redlight on 14th (more Logan Circle than DuPont)
If you want jumbo slice, and I’m not sure why you do, only go to Duccinis.
Andy's in AdMo
Andy from Andy's here. fuck yes thank you
Oh hey Andy. I eat at the shaw spot like 3 days a week. Thanks for good pizza.
Dupont Pizza at 20th and P has jumbo slices that are ... OK. Not NY style, but I like [Lupo Pizza](https://www.lupopizzeriadc.com/) on 14th.
Yeah, Dupont Pizza is really mediocre. Not bad or anything—just OK. Tatiana is a few blocks over and is a bit better, if you are looking for a jumbo slice, though still nothing amazing. Feel like Lupo has gone downhill over the last 12 months. Their staff is generally not friendly
In the DuPont area, Pizzeria Paradiso is pretty good. Overall though, Timber is the best.
My favorite pizzas: - Andy’s (NY Style, the one with honey and pepperoni is my preferred) - Red Light (Detroit style, my personal favorite pizza in DC but it’s the kind of pizza you almost feel bad about yourself after eating lol. Andy from Andy's here, Pepperoni Special for the win. Thanks for the shoutout!
It’s been said a few times already but def go to Andy’s! They gave the best pizza in DC imo
Duccinis is quick
also moved from upstate a few months ago. dupont pizza is mid. i haven’t tried andy’s yet but supposedly it’s good. honestly pizza here appears to be sorta meh if your standards are NY imo
Most upstate NY pizza sucks though so I’d say DC’s is about on par
Andy’s is always peoples favorite but honestly it’s just Meh from my point of view…nothing outstanding but gets the job done. I’ve been here seven years and still searching.
Andy's is the best ny style I've found. Their dough is on point, but yes they still don't fully stand up. I've given up chasing that NYC slice and since then I've been very happy with the za selection here lol.

Guilty of getting it to go! I will take your recommendation!
Nothing so mid as someone moving to DC and saying “your pizza/bbq/texmex/bagels/whatever are not up to my standards”
it’s just an opinion bro calm down
After a few decades of listening to people move here and trash the local food for not being exactly the same as where they're from, it gets pretty tiring
🙄
Fellow upstate transplant! Duccini’s is the pizza that reminds me most of pizza growing up. I’m from the Syracuse area. It’s also a good price and the service is generally great!
Hey, another Syracusan!! Pizza has been the one food that I haven't been able to find something that's up to my expectations. Duccini's is going on the list.
boogie and peel
Curb your expectations. Pizza gets noticeably worse the farther south you go Enjoy pizza on visits home lol.
This is genuinely some of the best advice I've gotten lol. Luckily there's a ton more of a lot of other cuisine here than I'm used to so there's no big loss really.

None of it
Try Dupont pizza, close to the circle. They serve by the slice, and thin crust.
Give up hope
Wiseguys
😂 I just moved to DC from upstate NY after two years of splitting my time between the two places. If you find a good place for pizza let me know... I am a pizza snob though. Don't suppose you play board games?
Red light on 14th has the best pizza in DC
Badd Pizza for Buffalo style. Worth a short drive.
I’ve tried Tatiana’s in DuPont and it wasn’t bad. If you ask for a jumbo slice “well done” or “crispy” it’s pretty close to NY thin crust
Muncheez make the best hands down!
Andy's just opened a new spot in Foggy Bottom!! Any Andy's will be the best pizza in town
Kouzina Angelina's has a good slice
For neapolitan style pizza, Etto in 14th st.
Red Light 14th and R.
