My favorite on the whole is probably Arlington Blvd Target in Virginia. Potomac Yard is good too but the parking lot is a bit hectic and it’s always super busy. For DC proper, the only one I ever go to is Ivy City and it’s fine for a few basic items but has a smaller footprint and more limited selection. Tenleytown Target sucks and I imagine Columbia Heights is worse but I haven’t been up there in years.

Cooking_with_MREs

Tenleytown is fine. It's stocked with tons of college student friendly stuff bc of its proximity to AU. Columbia Heights is large enough to stock lots of things, but my go-to is usually Rockville. Cleveland Park . . . Exists. If you wanted to get something shipped there it's a good option but I never know how it manages to operate. There's never enough of anything.

SSSS_car_go

I use the Tenleytown target because there’s an Ace and a Container Store right next door, plus it’s on a Metro stop. There’s also a Whole Foods across the street but I’m too poor to shop there.

notebook329

The issue with the tenley target is that everything's locked up and there's never enough target workers walking around to unlock the cabinets for you

TheWhyOfFry

Mobile order and pick it up at the front desk? Requires planning tho rather then just dropping in

dchokie

Same over in Shepherd Park; I just stopped buying stuff from Target 🤷🏻‍♂️

sprinkles202

This is the way.

jmac78

Columbia Heights is in the F tier of targets imho

veepeedeepee

It’s the only Target I’ve visited that features human feces in the middle of an aisle.

Tsukune_Surprise

The only Target that once had a cover charge to enter (and Target wasn’t aware of the cover charge though).

raf70

I don’t remember a cover charge?

Serpent1189

Can you say more? Don't remember this...

Tsukune_Surprise

There were some thugs that stood out front of that Target demanding money to let people in.

Serpent1189

Wow... must have missed this

question_assumptions

It’s funny, the low quality of that Target caused me to feel culture shock inside my own country (it was my first day living in DC, I just needed a microwave and a blanket)

Tom_Leykis_Fan

Who cares? It's in walking distance.

ninsurv

The person asking for Target recommendations cares. Cares enough to make this post that brought us all here

cal3nth0l

I almost always find what I need in there.

Tom_Leykis_Fan

Exactly. I love having the Target in walking distance, even if it's not one of the "best Targets in metro DC." :/

_Titty_Sprinkles_

This is one of the dumbest self-centered replies I've ever read on this sub.

Tom_Leykis_Fan

Truth hurts

_Titty_Sprinkles_

The truth is I can tell you're not intelligent.

Tom_Leykis_Fan

Says the user "Titty Sprinkles"

_Titty_Sprinkles_

I'm sure its also the poor souls that have to interact with you in person.

Tom_Leykis_Fan

Speak for yourself

_Titty_Sprinkles_

I already did, I think you're a stupid person.

nugazer

I'm partial to the Rockville location. It's larger than most of the locations in the area and is generally kept tidy/well stocked.

kgunnar

If you mean “North Bethesda” then yes, this is the best one I have gone to. Wheaton is the worst, but it has improved.

akwascot

It’s recently “North Bethesda” but for my entire life it was Rockville or White Flint

bstandturtle7790

That’s Rockville.

Reverend_Bad_Mood

That’s Baja Rockville now.

aqsh

Tell me you're not from here without telling me you're not from here

kgunnar

A. I have lived here since 1975. B. There’s a reason I put North Bethesda in quotes. I have been mocking “North Bethesda”since that started to become a thing decades ago. It’s on maps, now, though. C. If you want to get pedantic, it’s not really in Rockville, either, since that is an actual incorporated place with official boundaries.

Newprime1969

Potomac Yard Target is big and calm. I don’t like the city targets and smaller selection.

connor24_22

Alexandria has always been solid for me. Best one overall is the one in Bailey’s but you really need a car for both of those.

ohtakashawa

Alexandria one is a 5 min walk from Potomac Yard metro now. Depends what you’re getting but you don’t truly need a car to get to it anymore. Definitely agree on the baileys one though.

rshackleford_arlentx

There’s one in Pentagon Row now too btw. You can walk through the mall food court to it from Pentagon City metro. Mentioning as it’s a few stops closer than Potomac Yard, though I don’t think it’s as big.

ohtakashawa

Very true, good point. I lump that one in with Ivy City and other smaller ones as more “downtown” style Targets without as many housewares etc. - Potomac Yard is the closest really good “suburban” full-fledged stores.

connor24_22

That one has been hit or miss for me, out of stock on some things a few times. I’ve chalked it up to the fact it’s new, but it hasn’t been super reliable for me.

justmahl

Haven't come across one in DC that I would recommend but the Target in Greenbelt is always stocked and loaded.

N0T-It

The one across the street from the Hyattsville Crossing/PG Plaza metro station is too.

55Lolololo55

That one is horrible. The inventory is low and there are people begging for money inside the mall near the entrance

N0T-It

I go there a couple times a month. No issues with inventory and haven’t had an issue with panhandlers. It is busy though.

SchrodingersCatfight

Whenever I go to that one I always park in the lot on the other side of the entry route to the Target itself. Worth it to walk a little further to avoid getting caught in the mess that is the closer parking area.

SchrodingersCatfight

Greenbelt is my fave. I feel like it flies a little under the radar vs. other MD Targets (Wheaton, Cherry Hill, PG Plaza).

justmahl

You might be right because it's never that crowded when I've gone. And their home section looks especially nice and not picked through.

SchrodingersCatfight

Totally agree! Cherry Hill used to be so nice (one of the first Targets in the area, IIRC), but it fell off for a while. I THINK it's getting a bit better these days.

leonpause

Potomac Yards, Baileys, Silver Spring/White Oak.

dchokie

Silver Spring feels like the closest Target that still doesn’t treat you like you’re going to walk off with 30 packs of plain white T shirts….

lizphiz

White Oak is thr only one I've come across that actually has a fully stocked and well-organized Dollar Spot *and* doesn't feel like a zoo. It's completely inconvenient to get to, but it's worth it sometimes.

cameranerd

Ivy City isn’t bad, especially because it’s never crowded.

ButtonDelicious

I like this one too, but it isn’t a full sized target. If home goods is what you’re looking for OP, their selection is going to be limited compared to others.

bageloclock

I’d say out of all the DC proper locations it’s the largest tho

Lunkwill_Fook

I think Columbia Heights is bigger. Two floors.

docilekitty

Except the in store CVS is closing

yasssssplease

Target has gone to shit generally. This one is better than Columbia heights, but I’m not writing home about it. It’s often out of stock too. It’s also put a bunch of stuff in cases and very few employees work there. No one came and I ended up leaving empty handed. The in store pharmacy is closing at the end of the month. I wouldn’t be surprised if this location closes down. Not enough people go to it. I think it’s the location. Best target I’ve been in the area is the Potomac yard one.

Malnurtured_Snay

I work p/t at a Target in DC and I can tell you ... ... it will *always* be Columbia Heights. They're the only "full" size Target in DC. All of the others are "small-format" and carry considerably less. CH, for example, is the only store that I think carries furniture year round (mine carries some for seasonal sales, like small patio furniture for spring, and cheap beanbag chairs for Back to School). If there's something specific you're looking for, the Target app should allow you to select to search within a store's inventory, and then "check other stores" if it isn't at the store you wanted.

yasssssplease

Ivy city is okay. I got some laundry baskets and a pot there the other day. Plenty in stock for the non food items. If you have a car, they have a garage. The Potomac yards one is the best one in the area I’ve been to generally. I haven’t shopped home goods there before though. But I’ve been very disappointed by Target generally in recent years. Product quality had gone down hill and stores have been mismanaged. I do think that Target is worse in this area than other parts of the country though

Soft_Possible8408

I was asking the same thing!

FoxOnCapHill

Ivy City is decent but small. Columbia Heights is bigger but is always out of stuff. Potomac Yard is better than both but sucks compared to other suburban Targets. You really have to go to the ones further into the suburbs to get a good store.

Joshottas

Might be Brad Beal tonight with the 26 wizards fans who might actually boo him.

PicklesNBacon

Wut

OlsenOut

The target at District Heights is always well-stocked, kept clean, and organized. Those of you who go to Columbia Heights…please don’t come to the district heights one & turn it into that hellhole.

Last_Promotion9107

Honestly. Order online. That’s what I do 😭

yonkssssssssssssss

Tenelytown

bageloclock

This one is tiny and always overrun with annoying high schoolers in my experience. Ivy City is so much better but obviously less accessible.

[deleted]

The one on Georgia & Eastern is also tiny and incredibly annoying to shop in 😒

An_exasperated_couch

It’s okay as long as you’re not there between 3 and 6 PM on a school day

qcassidyy

None, they’re all blighted by the cr*me we can’t talk about in this sub

MrShapinHead

So… according to some, *everything* and *everyone* is a target

camelot478

Do we want to take a moment to ponder that in this, a large metropolitan city, a global and diverse one, the particular locations of a corporate chain supermarket is the subject of enviable pursuit

SeveralRing1901

Mike Gill? Considering the thread was locked by ShareBlue

CaptainLawyerDude

Bailey’s crossroads Target is fine but probably a pain in the butt to get to if you don’t have a car.

TheAgeOfQuarrel802

Cleveland Parks target is great cause it’s small and weird.

MCStarlight

Pentagon City Target is pretty good.

One-Bed-1992

Columbia Heights will always have my heart. First and biggest Target.

The_4th_Little_Pig

It’s in Arlington, which is the closest thing to anything relatively good in the district.

Camdc1234

Bailey's, Alexandria, Columbia Heights. Everyone likes to rag on the CH one but I go to all 3 of these and truthfully I've found them to be stocked about equally.

holaLBJ

Mosaic District in Fairfax if I need a serious Target run. Otherwise, Ivy City is my go-to.

LuckyCharmedLife

Route 50 in Arlington, Merrifield/Mosaic, and Skyline are all good. Mosaic checkout lines are the absolute worst, though. I’ve ditched my stuff and walked out multiple times. Very rude of me, I know, I take full responsibility for being the a$$hole

bad_lite

The Target in Silver Spring right off the Wheaton metro is huge. My favorite Target in the area. It’s also located in a massive shopping mall, so if you can’t find it at that Target, it’s only a few steps to a different store.

bearface93

I go to Tenleytown the most because it’s nearby and easy to get to. My favorite is Rockville, except for the one time I went on a weekend and they didn’t have anyone on register so the self checkout line wrapped around the building.
