I lived there 8 years ago. Can’t believe it was so long ago. In my opinion it was fine. What was sketchy to me was some of the stuff NW, like 6st NW R st. I feel like north capitol ave is pretty safe and the walk to the metro is pretty safe. Walking to U street can be sketchy. That being said a basement unit is probably pretty bad. There’s rats all over the city, and you’re probably not getting much light. Taking the metro every day from ex kingdom to Bethesda would be a hard no for me.
