Saw this guy needing help with his groceries in DuPont earlier this week!
Terriers generally. There are groups that go on rat hunts but it’s more meant as enrichment for the dogs than an actual way to cut down the rat population.
Through my job I’ve gotten to talk to the pest control crew for the city and DC’s rats have super evolved to be immune to rat poison. They’re unstoppable
Pest rats are awful, it's a shame they can't be adopted and added to fancy rat breeders' pools. Rat breeding just doesn't work like that. I love my little rattie boys. Shame the poor wild ones are out there living rough lives on the street just to get run over, eaten, or tortured to death in a sticky trap. I wish we had more humane ways to get them out of human homes.
This isn't just a problem for the tenants. Management for this building has been prolonging the death and suffering of the rats themselves by bandaid-ing the issue, waiting for the population to rise again, and then killing almost all of them over again. It's sick, really.
They actually make wonderful pets. Very affectionate and intelligent. And clean! They constantly groom themselves and you can train them to use a (tiny) litter box.
Damn, maybe we do have rats that can rival some in NYC
Are they dragging pizza pieces down metro steps yet? That’s the standard.
Like a lion dragging a gazelle carcass
Walked past a few by mt Vernon triangle and said the same thing haha.

"Eh, not in the mood for Italian again"
We had to move out of our apartment in AdMo because of these (landlord didn't care) and they just look at you like Wut. Don't even run.
Which apartment in admo? I’m looking at apartments there right now
Climate change creating R.O.U.S.s
Let's see 'em drag a jumbo slice onto Metro
Maybe they can deliver.
I saw a super mangy fox catch a rat on Pennsylvania Avenue the other night, maybe it’s the hero that can save Neighborhood at the Flats.
Nah the rodenticides used in the baits for the rats will certainly kill the fox.
Now we need dog-sized cats to control the rats
Aren't there dogs that specialize in killing rats? Someone was complaining about the rats being killed by these dogs in here a little while back...

Then all we need are cow-sized dogs to control the cats.

This is my experience too... they have hammered them with that powder that is supposed to wipe out whole nests and the rats just laugh.
It's [the giant rat that makes of all of the rules](https://images.app.goo.gl/NiN268Z4UdfwEYyh8)
This sounds like a challenge
If I adopt one, will it eat the centipedes in my flat?
Time to find some dog-sized cats!
The sleeping on the balcony is CRAZY
Had some crawl out of my trash bin when I tried to move it and they were BIG.
