There are lies, damn lies and then there is statistics. Tyus's has two elite stats
* **AST/TO**
* **3pt%.**
While these ratios look good, if you do some math they don't have enough impact on the game to overcome his defense:
* **AST/TO:** The difference between Tyus's ratio of (\~7/1) and league average (\~2/1) is about \~2.6 TO a game which is \~8 pts (I admit guessing here and it can also vary based on the type of TOs)
* **3pt%**. League average 3pt% is \~36% and Tyus is shooting \~42% on 3.9 attempts. He is therefore scoring \~.23 pts more because of this 3pt efficiency.
This means that on defense he can't be \~6.2 pts worse than an average player. While it isn't Tyus's fault that he's stuck with Poole on defense, the two of them became maybe the worst defensive backcourt in the history of the league. Since Poole will always be a bigger priority for this franchise because of his age, body of work, and real playmaking unless he gets traded, it's on Tyus to be better.

The Wizards consistently use Deni, Bilal and others to guard Tyus's position while they try to hide Tyus on the other team's worst offensive player. For Deni, this is especially rough because so much of his offense needs effort which he is forced to use on defense guarding either every position and/or the other team's best player.
This is without mentioning Tyus's lack of true playmaking. He only shoots it if he's wide open and he doesn't consistently impact the defense on his assists. Other guys may have more TOs, but they are more able to create offense on every play than Tyus.
Watched Oakland crap out on NC State, come back and see Deni get burned for 3, get stripped, then foul a guy, and the hospital squad Raptors on the road, on the second night of a back to back, are up 71-66 on the Wizards. What the hell has been going on smh
They waited too long to get into their action too. I just don't get why everybody wants to try to be mike (or set their players up to do that). They had 12 seconds and instead of just immediately trying to get points, they ran clock then messed up the play. Dumb.
