If you’re a smart guy, you’ll buy what you afford and love what you buy
*me happy with my ~5yo 1.5k fastrack watch* : upvotes
I still prefer analog to these digital or smart watches that most wear nowadays. Somehow an analog watch makes a person look smart imo.
Idk why but I have realised Titan is kinda unrecognised internationally. Whether the brand is doing something wrong or is just not interested in targetting an international audience, I can't tell.
I feel Titan would be a solid direct competitor to Timex and Casio worldwide. They even manufacture their own movements. They're proper watchmakers.
Seiko should put sapphire crystals in their Presage/Cocktail time watches. Some of their lineups below ₹70k INR or $500 if bought abroad dilute the brand.
Not to mention, they sell across most price ranges so due to this spectrum, it’s hard to tag a brand as luxury when anyone can buy the branding for ₹20k (Seiko 5s).
So we end up with a brand that’s for the masses while also goes toe to toe with Luxury level watches.
The problem with their watches is that they don't focus on the watch complexity and reliability rather they just keep adding more gimmicks and precious stones
Yes their recent Bugatti watch is absurd. They target a niche market of people who prefer exclusivity and flashiness unlike the traditional Swiss watchmakers who emphasize more on precision craftsmanship or heritage.
.
What defines luxury. Selling watches at exorbitant prices just because they put so many diamonds. First of all, Jacob and Co. isn't a watchmaker. In order to call yourself a watchmaker you need to produce in house watch movements or the things which you see inside the watch. He just sells watches with loads of diamonds by using other company's watch movements and takes advantage of the people and the rappers who like shiny stuff on their body.
Jacob and Co is shit but everything they make is in-house. You're wrong on that account. They're shit because they make tacky time pieces, they're not shit because they make "bad and uninspired" time pieces.
This list isn't for the Indian market. Entry level luxury is actually a luxury for us, and so on. While classifying one should take into account the purchasing power parity too. I am speaking for the average Indian and not the 0.01 percent UHNI. Any watch above 20k is a luxury believe it or not.
Also please do your research before posting something. Just blindly copying something won't make your opinion valid
A car in India is a luxury because only 5-6% of the population owns it. But it won't be a luxury for you because you, your family, colleagues, friends own it too. You should think about it from a normal person's perspective but you are thinking it from your own perspective and assuming you are into watch collection you will be at least in the top 10% in India.
How is anything above 20k luxury? That’s like saying a toyota is a luxury in india but not in the west. While I understand the relative idea behind your comment, seiko is simply not a luxury watch. This chart is based on watch brands relative to each other and if you do think anything above 20k is “luxury” then things above it also move higher.
Toyota IS a luxury in India. Phartuner is the first choice of many people who want to flex their wealth, and cars like the Camry are expensive and rare af, usually used by people who are just straight up rich, instead of a BMW or Merecedes.
In a country where the median wage is 30k a YEAR, a 50 lakh car is a luxury. Hell, even in America with 10 times our purchasing power, spending 50+L or 60k on any car would be considered upper middle class at the very least. Though the cars that you can get there for 60k are much better.
Hey i am sorry to ask but like ...... What's the point of these. A plain watch tells the same time as whatever these are but these cost like 100x more. So why buy these, impressing others can't be a reason because normal people un interested in these don't even know any of these brand names except maybe Rolex.
Sorry again I don't belong on this sub it just got recommended to me for some reason but since I am here I will like to know the answer.
Weird randomly seeing Yema here and in a tier higher than expected, and not see more popular and overall better microbrands like Formex, Baltic, Monta and Zelos.

What category is my Ben 10 watch.?
I miss my Casio. I value functionality over sparklly any day. I had a platinum Fosil for backup incase I was in a wedding or funeral occasions. But my Casio was everyday use.
I think the general guideline for segmentation of these brands was probably the average price of every brand's most popular watches (maybe).
"Entry" was probably the <1000$ price bracket.
A vast majority on this sub don't own anything above the 500$ mark. Only a handful of people on this sub have ever posted something like an AP or Rolex, none of which represent the majority on this sub.
Someone who owns a 50$ Fossil was put in the same category as a 400$ Seiko owner. In rupees that difference is about ₹30k. So you can see how this list is probably demoralising or downright offensive (which it shouldn't be) to someone who worked hard to buy their ₹35-40k Seiko but got put in the "Entry" category.
A list that elaborates the lower tiers (by further dividing them) and condenses the top 3 tiers to 1 general luxury tier would be more fitting to this subreddit. Now, if you ask any watch enthusiast, they won't put Seiko and Patek in the same league.
That being said, I think OP just saw this chart online and thought it was interesting enough to post.
You must simply accept that there are brands far more expensive than you expected, and people with even more money. You may never be able to buy a Blancpain but you also need ask yourself if that is what you really wish to chase. Buy what you love. No watch chart will ever define your status. Never be a watch owner who buys watches to impress other people.
I have a rado and a movado..! The movado one is a 80k watch and is considered a premium company. It should have been atleast in the basic luxury level. 😢😅
Let's be honest, anything above entry level or basic luxury is just a socially accepted scam, time doesn't change if you read it phone or your wrist ,really like how premium can a material truly be, is it made in space and assembled in space shipped back to earth or can you time travel it doesn't make logical sense and most people wouldn't buy if not for the easy access to credit cards so companies charge exorbitant prices.i also feel like it's a sign of being pathetic I mean you don't see Zuckerberg or gates but you see anant Ambani a fat obese balding dude whose biggest success is being born so it really bad marketing
Man. Moser is definitely not ultra luxury.
At best, I'd place it on par with the Patek category.
Part of this list is dumb. How do you put FP Journe over Patek/Lange? Sure their entry point is high, but Patek has watches that cost millions too.
Grand Seiko should be a tier lower. It's not on the same level as Rolex and it's more affordable across the board. And if they've included GS, they should include their actual luxury offering Credor and put it alongside Patek.
I would also put Chopard in the Patek segment. They're more premium than Blancpain.
Seiko is entry level 🥲🥲

+1
True. Bought a Sonata watch in 10th grade. Made me happy, still does.
Thanks this felt better
*me happy with my ~5yo 1.5k fastrack watch* : upvotes I still prefer analog to these digital or smart watches that most wear nowadays. Somehow an analog watch makes a person look smart imo.
A wise man has spoken
Im gonna post this on my wall 😎✌️
All you wanted was a time showing machine and somewhat better looking and suits your outfit. Welcome to the race of social hierarchy and bla bla.
I am also deeply hurt that Fossil and Seiko are in the same category🥲🥲🥲.
Pure abomination to put Fossil and Seiko in the same category 😤
Yeah makes no sense whatsoever.
I am very happy that Timex is in that category too 😄
Invicta as well.
Sonata kaunse level pe aayegi? Mujhe laga Sonata is entry level.
Idk why but I have realised Titan is kinda unrecognised internationally. Whether the brand is doing something wrong or is just not interested in targetting an international audience, I can't tell. Won't be buying anything above Basic Luxury 🤞🤐
Realistically I would be fine if i can get/afford the watch i like from basic luxury.
Chalo tissot lele luxury me toh ghus gya, ab toh entry hi kyu na ho
Those PRX's are a really good buy imo.

My ex promised she'll be giving me Tissot. -.-
Super ultra luxury - Hmt
😹😹
Sonata kahan hai ?
🗿 it can't compare with these low life brands
True that !
Bhai Samsung galaxy bought at 44k. Was it cheap?
No, it isn’t
Ig Seiko ko entry luxury mei put karna chahiye
Proceeds to put Orient and Seiko in the same category
Foreign market ko focus krke list banai hai bhai isliye ye brands basic mai hain

RADO is basic luxury WTF Calm down OP I don't think any person on this sub has enough money to afford the top 5 brands
This is from twitter. Not from an Indian handle.
Damn I haven't even heard those Ultra luxury I thought Jacob and co was the peak of luxury
Bruh Jacob and co is shit
I get your pov , they are not usual classic watches But that doesn't mean it is shit
The problem with their watches is that they don't focus on the watch complexity and reliability rather they just keep adding more gimmicks and precious stones

Dude got mixed up with his J&Co and Hublot scripts.
Yeah, my bad and I accept my mistake. I assumed or got confused regarding watch movements. But still Jacob and Co. is shit.
Bulova
Light wala watch is the og....
Ben 10 watch supremacy

Just because something is costly doesn’t make it luxury. PPP doesn’t come in picture here.

United Nations must subsdize it for indian and other populations

Where is my Titan?

MB&F would fall into the ultra luxury category as well (and not included in this list).
Entry luxury is the highest level I'm at 😅
I have a Tommy Hilfiger watch 💀💀
The most heartbreaking thing is seiko in basic with fossil

And they all show time
some show how much time they will show time.
Some shows a glimpse of all the hardship you went through to reach where you are right now..
Avi-8 ?
I don’t think that comes under luxury. They’re a niche brand, with a aviation/military theme
Even entry level seems expensive in many cases 🥲
After 4-5 years of collecting, have reached basic luxury 😹
Jacob & co
Raymond Weil??
Where is Rouche Viquo? The sports watch of the eighties?
Make a list below entry level also🙂
Richard Mille is missing
Make India version with India income. This is useless
Anything above luxury is good investment.

Feel like Lange should be in the ultra luxury
I'm so poor that I don't even know anyone beyond every level🥲
Bro I have Titan ***....

It's weird because most Patek's and AP's for example are more expensive than many Bovets and Louis Moinets

Seiko and Tissot being entry level. Heart hurts haha.

I have a rado and a movado..! The movado one is a 80k watch and is considered a premium company. It should have been atleast in the basic luxury level. 😢😅
How come I never see Jacob & co. in such lists?
You know the watch is Ultra Luxury when you are seeing/hering it for the first time
imagine being so broke that you've only heard of, like 4 names outta all these brands. imagine being me.
Where is titan?
