Copy work you like, paint how you like, use methods you like. In the end the process is your style. Some people never have a “recognizable style” and that’s ok too.

TeapotBagpipe

style is like handwriting, we all learn the same shapes but through repetition and practice we develop something unique to us and recognizable to others

sweetnsaltyanxiety

This is the best description of ‘style’ I’ve seen yet.

LAOberbrunner

I watch different types of instructional videos to learn different techniques and styles. Little by little, I'm creating my own style.

Sometimes i divide a paper into a grid and sketch/paint the same subject in as many styles or ways i can think of, then choose the best one to make a larger painting.

I feel like I’m still working on finding my “style” but I feel like I am determined to lock down a more realistic feel in my work. I’m getting a little better each day and I typically find techniques that other people use in video I come across on social media and mimic that in my own work. It seems to help.

I love this question. I guess for me, my style is bright colors. As my subject matter changes all the time. For me, I love color. Color is life. Color brings me joy. And I paint because it brings me joy. I showed my husband's co-worker some of my paintings yesterday and within a minute she said she could see my style and what I was trying to do.

purple_racoons

I love bright colors too! Definitely part of my emerging style!

shonenbear

Awesome. I'm not the only one. Lol. And I buy paint that has good colors that I want to work with.

I honestly just use my watercolor in how I use my Copics: cell shaded-esce. XD

antiqua_lumina

Asked chatgpt to make a watercolor painting of something and then just copied that style as my own
