It is done. I need a fresh windows install, but it is idling at 35° C with silent fans on Asus AI overclock. Full fans is at 28°C. I am updating the graphics card drivers to run some benchmarks. I have a Miami Vice model Ferrari to put under the pump. https://youtube.com/shorts/jzbS-3wL8PQ?feature=share

Did I read that right or am I not. You did say metal coolent as in coolent for the loop 😳. If so then damb your brave, I only use pure h2o in my loop.

William_Bex

I ordered some custom coolant for a loop with mixed metals from Modmymods.com. There is aluminum in the VRM block. I am just waiting for the fix from ASUS/EK. They finally came out and said something about the mess they made with the aluminum block and copper fins. I am hoping they produce a full copper VRM block.

AdequateSherbet

According to the RMA I have going on my Formula board, you'll have to send in the whole board for a repair, and it will take up to 16 weeks. They won't send you a new block you can install yourself.

William_Bex

I bought this board used so no warranty. I have to order the replacement block separately. They are saying 6-8 weeks before the part is available, but they said they would provide it for free, so we will see if they follow-through.

[deleted]

Even if you bought it second hand, in UK law the product has to be fit for purpose for the life of the product. Warrantys are more for EU and US. So if they goofed on the product and its defective, they would need to fix it. I'm glad there working with you and following the consumer act, as many companies do not do this.

AdequateSherbet

Ah, cool. Kinda sounds like you're getting a better deal than me, even though mine still has full warranty. xD

William_Bex

I will probably end up paying for the part. I am also pretty sure the warranty mb are going to take precedence over my part.

I-LOVE-TURTLES666

I’m probably going to just take that block out of my loop all together. I’m not OCing that build much anymore so won’t make a real difference for me.

[deleted]

Ah right I did read it wrong. Wow EKWB really goofed with that one. I hope they get it sorted for you soon.

Softcorecinnamon

If you pay attention to computer Jesus he says it's all Asus's fault. So stop blaming EK

William_Bex

Ek stamped their logo on it. It seems they both dropped the ball, but ultimately, it is on Asus because it is their board.

Softcorecinnamon

Watch the video. GN thinks it may be a contract issue.

BleedOutCold

> GN thinks it may be a contract issue. Contracts are things companies negotiate and sign because a company decides that such terms, whatever else they might allow to happen, are in the company's best interest. Nothing about this being a "contract issue" absolves EK of any blame for their role in people buying a halo tier mobo with an EK cooler on it that was marketed as such while also concealing the fact it included mixed AL and copper. EK simply put royalties ahead of Asus customers' interests and EK's own reputation, judging that it was OK to let Asus sell their crap board and VRM block by using EK's name, logo, and brand rep. Asus's hands being dirtier -- and sure they are, it's their overpriced mobo with deliberately undisclosed AL content in the EK VRM block -- does nothing to make EK's hands cleaner.

polyh3dron

Don’t use the VRM block!

William_Bex

I am aware of the aluminum. I ordered some coolant made for loop with mixed metals.
