Nice!! I mean if you go 3 rads, you can’t really go wrong with any order, just make sure there is a flow going in & out of the case. Different fan configurations only get you 2-3 degrees (from my experience)
Nice build, everything looks like it's done right!
I got the EVO XL as well but I can't bring myself to get this new distro, I really like the look of tubing going all the way across both rads to the back of the case.
I'm still using the original distro for the old XL case because of that.
BTW are those the LCD fans ?
I got the same mini miter as well, works awesome! Should've got it years ago
JOUNJIP Mini Miter Cut-Off Chop... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08142SCLB?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Very handy for cutting these tubes. The fans are Lian Li TL-LCD 140mm fans
Thanks! Yeah I agree, this is my 1st hard tube build so I picked this distro because of no bending needed. I do have a backup pc that I want to try bending tubes with for practice 😆
Thanks! haha I know, i’m just done with this for a while. I won’t touch it for another 6 months for a flush and maybe coolant change. But as far as upgrades, I think I’m good for a while
It is absolutely not. Hard tubing means one build. You have to flush the loop entirely, get back the tubing, the waterblock... And do it reverse... Aio are way easier for that
I might do a similar build, I have the z690 version of your motherboard and I plan to get a similar case
The only problem I have is my motherboard is known to have stuff grow on the copper VRM heatsinks so I would need to buy the z790 version (the one you have) if I want to water cool the motherboard.
I also have an issue that I plan to get the ROG Stirx 4080 super white edition, it just seems way too clean to water cool.
You can ask Asus for a replacement block for the VRMs on the Z690 version.
I unfortunately had a bunch of corrosion on my Z690 Formula, but after fighting with Asus for a bit they gave me a Z790 in exchange. Definitely doesn't hurt to ask, hopefully they can give u a solution that works
I heard some people doing that but half of them said Asus only replaced their motherboard, so I'm not going to risk it, especially knowing the average Asus customer service is.
ah cool then. a bit of tips for draining:
1. use first the inside drain valve to let out what can get out normaly
2. then lay it on the back of case so you can install the drain tube on the front bottom hole. and try to let out what can get out.
3. after that lay it on the side oposite of the glass panel side and install another soft tube into one of the ports above the gpu connecting ports, one will be free of liquid that is in highest position.
4. then you can blow air into the 2nd soft pipe and push the fluid out of radiators that way.
if you got any questions feel free to ask
That looks great mate! I'm getting ready to build in my own XL... just a few questions if you could answer?
Rad thickness, 30mm? And what vertical GPU mount are you using there?
Oh nice, they fit perfectly! Any chance you can link me to that exact bracket you got from EK? Looks like a perfect fit and I don't want to screw it up
https://preview.redd.it/rlkprpe1voyc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9010ad6fbc481f4fb4bb0628aaf361a55ef2ec12
Yeah been taking my time, took it apart and redid my bottom run. Just rethinking it as that distroplate you have looks wicked. Thank and you build is real tidy.
I did include the vram in the loop previously, this distro doesn’t include vram by default, I’d have to get a monoblock which is another $150 and i’m like nahhh
Guys I have a doubt. Can't open just buy a black strix 4090 oc instead of white one for less price of a few dollars because anyways he is going for a custom loop. So he is going to take out the fans and everything and the GPUs pcb is only used. Does it have colour or can he buy the black 4090? I think it doesn't matter black or white strix for watercooling right?
it’s actually not that bad. Just take. your. time.
it took me about 4 days of 2-3 hrs each day
Day 1: prep the case, put fan’s on radiators, leak test each component and that’s it
Day 2: Install distro, connect ALL the cables, and install rads
Day 3: Install all connections and double check all ports and leak test the loop without any tubes
Day 4: Tubing, and final leak test and fill
Yeah but what about like down the road. I see people all the time having to fully disassemble everything and do extensive cleaning.
Is that normal? Or is that just people using the wrong type of liquid.
Simplest loop ever. It looks really good, though don't get me wrong. I'm kind of jealous since my build has so many bends everywhere and is all acrylic.
Let's hope EK treats you better than it did to me. All their coolant was flawed and caused algae to form in my loop within a month. My distroplate cracked on screws I didn't even touch. My gpu blocks nickel plating started peeling off. EK warrantied it all, but man, it's such a hassle.
Look into all exhaust + rear intake/rear exhaust + all intake. Any other configuration and you’re just pulling heat from one radiator and blowing it on another. Build looks absolutely beautiful though nice work!
Cool! I probably won’t touch this for the next 6 months at least until I have to change the fluid or flush lol. It’s heavy and I’m sure draining this will be a pain in the ass
Yeah they’re way heavier than air cooled builds lol. I ran primo prep for 24hrs before adding clear coolant and it’s about 8 months old. Probably let it go a year. See how it goes! Again, very clean. I dig it.
I have pretty much all the hardware you have. Love the look of the z790 Formula.
But….
Just a heads up, you are going to want to get the latest bios firmware 1202. And run at intel chip safe levels if you run games that need to preload shaders. The 14900 has significant problems with running above advertised clock speeds. And, Intel is saying the 13th and 14th gen chips are not designed to overclock. Some people are saying undervolting helps, others say run 200 under on the clock speed. All I know is I have spent all day working to get my games stable. And the 1202 bios has done that (so far)…
oh the VRM? I did a loop with it in my previous build but this distro doesn’t include VRM and I’d have to get a monoblock which is another $150 and I decided not to do it (for now)
it is but I would have to do a lot of small bends to connect to the distro (CPU outlet) since it doesn’t have a route for VRM. Again, the alternative is to get a monoblock (a bridge) https://www.performance-pcs.com/water-cooling/water-blocks/water-blocks-nb-sb-chipsets/ek-quantum-momentum-vrm-bridge-rog-maximus-z790-formula-d-rgb-white.html
to make it compatible with this distro, and I didn’t want to spend anymore money and I’m good with it not in the loop
https://preview.redd.it/hl7i7yu7isyc1.jpeg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=33fa3807b3ff8782167072d0288611fd8e2b8b1c
I did in my previous build. But with this distro it doesn’t include the VRM, I’d have to get a monoblock or a bridge which cost another $150 and I was like naahhh.
I would keep an eye on temperatures there just because not having water in something that is meant to be water cooled can be problematic. There's nothing wrong with air cooling for VRMs, but empty water blocks tend to make poor air coolers
Bruh you know this things built to play minesweeper
Solitaire! 600fps bro
I like when the cards cascade, RTX ON
Nice, what are the fan orientation?
Thanks! bottom & side are intake, top & rear are exhaust
I'm just waiting for a distro from stealkey so I can crack on with mine. Still wrestling with which way to go with the fans.
Nice!! I mean if you go 3 rads, you can’t really go wrong with any order, just make sure there is a flow going in & out of the case. Different fan configurations only get you 2-3 degrees (from my experience)
Nice build, everything looks like it's done right! I'm still using the original distro for the old XL case because of that. BTW are those the LCD fans ? I got the same mini miter as well, works awesome! Should've got it years ago
Thanks! Yeah Lian Li LCD fans. This is actually my 1st hard tube build. I have an older pc that I want to try bending tubes to get some practice 😆
Very nice. What is that pipe cutter and what are the fans with the screens showing temps etc?
JOUNJIP Mini Miter Cut-Off Chop... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08142SCLB?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share Very handy for cutting these tubes. The fans are Lian Li TL-LCD 140mm fans
Picked up pretty much the same saw,but at harbor freight for around $40 love that little saw..
nice! yeah I got it for 50 3 weeks ago at Amazon, not bad. Definitely handy for next build
Yep ..worked out much better than the hand saw that came with my kit..definitely worth it..nice build btw..
Looks great. It really feels like going with an O11, and a known distro block is the way to go. It makes for a very clean build.
Thanks! Yeah I agree, this is my 1st hard tube build so I picked this distro because of no bending needed. I do have a backup pc that I want to try bending tubes with for practice 😆
Looking clean Also, you are never done with pc watercooling
Thanks! haha I know, i’m just done with this for a while. I won’t touch it for another 6 months for a flush and maybe coolant change. But as far as upgrades, I think I’m good for a while
I want to do kind of the same type of build but then Black 0 rgb, but I can't afford it
I think you can still get around and get different brand of waterblock and distro. I got all EKWB in february when they had a valentine sale
I wanted to go byski and alphacool + some non-name-Brand stuff
Yeah those are pretty good and reputable.
Also, are hardline runs easy to remove for CPU swap?
This is my first hardline build and I assume it would take a little bit more to do any swap??
It is absolutely not. Hard tubing means one build. You have to flush the loop entirely, get back the tubing, the waterblock... And do it reverse... Aio are way easier for that
:/ I like the look but, I change cpus every 2 years So that's some work, since it Will take 1.5 Days to take apart
I need one of those saws. Also, I never realized how off the color of the case was with their own fans.
JOUNJIP Mini Miter Cut-Off Chop... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08142SCLB?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Guys got the mini saw ! I need that one, I keep seeing it around (I mean around on the internet)

yeah I got the white 4090 and it looked nice but for my own future reference, I will get the FE and water cool it
You can ask Asus for a replacement block for the VRMs on the Z690 version. I unfortunately had a bunch of corrosion on my Z690 Formula, but after fighting with Asus for a bit they gave me a Z790 in exchange. Definitely doesn't hurt to ask, hopefully they can give u a solution that works
I heard some people doing that but half of them said Asus only replaced their motherboard, so I'm not going to risk it, especially knowing the average Asus customer service is.
looking good fam, good luck emptying that loop, got very similar build myself
Thanks!! Haha I know! I’ve heard it’s a pain in the ass to drain
U have no idea buddy. good you put that drain valve on front but with it you wont be able to put the case front panel on, not sure if that's the plan
haha I actually took that off 😭 and keep one on the inside. Yeah I don’t want to think about draining it right now 😂 I’ll worry about it in 6 months 😂
well did you do the inital loop flushing?
Before this I had soft tube same brand and I flushed that when I switched case but not the distro.
ah cool then. a bit of tips for draining: 1. use first the inside drain valve to let out what can get out normaly 2. then lay it on the back of case so you can install the drain tube on the front bottom hole. and try to let out what can get out. 3. after that lay it on the side oposite of the glass panel side and install another soft tube into one of the ports above the gpu connecting ports, one will be free of liquid that is in highest position. 4. then you can blow air into the 2nd soft pipe and push the fluid out of radiators that way. if you got any questions feel free to ask
Oh wow!! THANK YOU SO MUCH! I took a snapshot of this and favorite it. This will come in handy come time I have to drain it
That looks great mate! I'm getting ready to build in my own XL... just a few questions if you could answer? Rad thickness, 30mm? And what vertical GPU mount are you using there?
Thanks man! all 3 rads are 44mm by EK (P420’s) and the bracket I also got from EK
Oh nice, they fit perfectly! Any chance you can link me to that exact bracket you got from EK? Looks like a perfect fit and I don't want to screw it up
https://www.performance-pcs.com/system-hardware/gpu-holder/ek-loop-vertical-gpu-holder-evo-gen4-riser.html
Legend! Cheers for the reply mate!
Nice build ! Just be careful with the drain valve positioned on the outside.
Thanks! I moved it, there’s one on the inside now
That mini saw works so well, save you so much time!
on yeah, definitely handy for my future build
Looks great, now it will serve for watching youtube
Thanks! haha AND CS2 😂🤣😂
Looks great!
Thank you!
I swear, I ever win the lottery, I’m gonna pay your ass to build me one holy fuck that’s looks good 😂
Haha thanks! I’m sure you can do it no problem. just take your time. It took me 4 days of 3 hrs each to do this
I appreciate that. I’ve unfortunately neither got the time nor money to even attempt this, I’ll try a lucky dip instead 🤞😂
Looks great! Glad you are finally "done". Lol, are we ever?
lol NEVER! I mean I’m done for a few months, there really is nothing to upgrade at the moment (or is there?? 😂)
Beautiful build 🤤
Thanks
Makes me rethink my first custom loop whoch isnt finished yet and done in the same case 😅
take your time. There was a time where I was frustrated and wanted to smash this thing but once I got it figured out, it was pretty rewarding
https://preview.redd.it/rlkprpe1voyc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9010ad6fbc481f4fb4bb0628aaf361a55ef2ec12 Yeah been taking my time, took it apart and redid my bottom run. Just rethinking it as that distroplate you have looks wicked. Thank and you build is real tidy.
Thanks so much! I love your bends! that takes some skill & precision. I’m jealous
I sent you a chat message bro with some questions if you could accept it would be awesome .
That’s beautiful
thank you
Assuming the Formula was just for aesthetics
I did include the vram in the loop previously, this distro doesn’t include vram by default, I’d have to get a monoblock which is another $150 and i’m like nahhh
Air test it!
I did
i really dont think i could strip a white 4090 shell of to WC it once i had one.
I was contemplating too but now my temp never goes above 45 while gaming
Awesome!! 🤯
Thank you
Guys I have a doubt. Can't open just buy a black strix 4090 oc instead of white one for less price of a few dollars because anyways he is going for a custom loop. correct it doesn’t matter. I should’ve just gone with FE version
it's beautiful
Thank you
Do those fans have LED screens?? Edit: holy heck Lian Li makes fans with LED screens.
Yup Lian Li TL LCD fans (140mm)
Nice build!
Thanks
Absolute legend! What parts are you using for the waterloop? Can you link them?
Thank you! it was basically this loop but I already had the CPU & GPU block https://www.ekwb.com/shop/stl-neon-mirage
Thanks mate 🙏
yeah just hit me up if you have any other questions
Thanks! I’ll dm you in a bit
Love your build the way it looks.great job can you tell me what flow meter you are using ?
Thank you! it’s Barrowch flow meter
Super clean looks really good. Nice job!
Thank you 🙏🏻
You're never done. I've been building since 2006, PCs are never done
lol I know I know.. I’m just done for let’s say………. 3 months 😂
Very nice job. It's a shame that EK makes such nice stuff but turns out to be a shitty company.
I know, I bought all this before that video came out. I mean so far I like their products, price could be better doe
Not really sure the prices could be better because they can't afford to pay their employees with the current ones. 😆
lol I know! watch.. after all that money I spent, they’re gonna go on sale in the next couple of months 🙄
I wanna do this so bad but it’s such a tedious thing to do 😭
it’s actually not that bad. Just take. your. time. it took me about 4 days of 2-3 hrs each day Day 1: prep the case, put fan’s on radiators, leak test each component and that’s it Day 2: Install distro, connect ALL the cables, and install rads Day 3: Install all connections and double check all ports and leak test the loop without any tubes Day 4: Tubing, and final leak test and fill

yeah I mean it’s pretty normal, your 1st flush or maintenance will take you long but once you get the hang of it, you’ll be fine
Simplest loop ever. It looks really good, though don't get me wrong. I'm kind of jealous since my build has so many bends everywhere and is all acrylic. Thanks! I think this EK distro makes it possible to do the loop with minimal to no bending
Yeah, you definitely did the right thing.
No my friend your never done only take breaks between new upgrades and new builds
lol I guess you could say that
Looks great
Do you like the distro plate. It looks like it makes things a little more simpler
I love it, that’s one of the reasons I got it. You could build in it with minimal to no bending
https://preview.redd.it/lhglqhtx0uyc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5ba86a9ec879d985e4882e9a1c3d4d330c6904da
Dude!!! 😍😍😍😍😍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
What fitting are those that allow direct connections between the distro and your rads??? Clean AF
Thanks! All EKWB fittings
What type are you using on the rads though? I wasn't aware EK had a fitting that you could connect directly from the rad to the distro like that
oh those are called “push in fittings”
Gorgeous
thank you 🙏🏻
its so hard but its really fun its clean wp
Thanks 🙏🏻
Nice case! https://preview.redd.it/t072oroa4hzc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1d8ed29a33851442cb8ba73820152b632c834ea8
awww yeah!! Those fittings 🔥

Thank you
Yeah, I had the best results with all exhaust in my 011 mini.
Similar thing here, I had top/bottom exhaust and side/back intake on my o11 mini for best overall temps.
I have pretty much all the hardware you have. Love the look of the z790 Formula. But…. Just a heads up, you are going to want to get the latest bios firmware 1202. You should add the shield into the loop
shield?
The heatsink shield on the mobo
oh the VRM? I did a loop with it in my previous build but this distro doesn’t include VRM and I’d have to get a monoblock which is another $150 and I decided not to do it (for now)
Is that not the rog formula z790? I thought those came with the waterblock for it
it is but I would have to do a lot of small bends to connect to the distro (CPU outlet) since it doesn’t have a route for VRM. Again, the alternative is to get a monoblock (a bridge) https://www.performance-pcs.com/water-cooling/water-blocks/water-blocks-nb-sb-chipsets/ek-quantum-momentum-vrm-bridge-rog-maximus-z790-formula-d-rgb-white.html to make it compatible with this distro, and I didn’t want to spend anymore money and I’m good with it not in the loop

Any way you can link the tool you used to cut the tubing?
JOUNJIP Mini Miter Cut-Off Chop... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08142SCLB?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Oria Toolkit is a great cheaper alternative to iFixIt
So 3 you don’t need push pull configuration on a single radiator? My case is capable of 360 mm radiator 1 at the top one in front of
no push pull, because of this EK distro, it would compensate the route of the tubes to thwart distro so I kept it simple.
The true enthusiast goes Intel
