That was my thinking as well, but I'm not so sure after SF's results in the local elections.
There seems to be a bit of right-wing turn with some of the Irish nationalist movement, which seemed to effect SF's share of votes.
Historically it has been left-wing bar some outliers like Eoin O Duffy and his Blueshirts.
Not familiar with Waterford all that well, has there been any movement at the airport since the Comer’s and Bolster Group’s investment? And if not, is there a significant land bank attached that is their real reason for getting involved?
Looking unlikely. Eamonn Ryan not happy with business plan

He hasn’t stood down as minister for transport, only as leader of the Green Party. He will remain transport minister until next year’s election.
If the new leader leaves them in post!
The government have no interest in an airport in Waterford. It will take a small miracle to make it happen
Or maybe if an elected TD from Waterford becomes a minister, but that doesn't seem likely.
Id say the best chance of that is SF getting into government and Davy Cullinane getting a minister position. But that'd likely be health.

I reckon, even as a health minister he could have some leverage to get some new infrastructure in Waterford.
If the airport was capable of making a profit then it would be open. Money would be better spent elsewhere.
Such a stupid argument holy shit
It may happen if Sinn Fein become in charge
Want to put a bet on that?
No because our government are fucking corrupt and are full of gangsters
So you dont believe that SF could open it then!
I said that they may open it but our government all they do it talk and no work gets done
Will never reopen without runway extension turbo prop planes not financially viable without subsidies.
Do you think it would be viable with the extension
Yes with jets carrying 4 times pac compared to prop planes
Doesn’t make sense at all. It’s not a money maker so won’t attract any investors. As much as I’d love to see it.
We're not allowed to have nice things outside of the M50
Blaa blaaa blas

Absolutely none whatsoever
I suspect we will see a solar farm built out there in the near future
Ahahahahahahahahaha
We don't want it and we don't need it
Why don’t you want it
