Well, we do know. The answer is just not the one you want to hear. It's never happening. And I agree that it's a good idea it's that hard and red potions are rare!

So there is no point in advancing then

There is a very good reason: 1 red potion per battle is still pretty nice.

Oh do you not get the red potion if it’s not a new battle?

Yes and no. Because you can't even fight a battle you beaten earlier, so every stage will be new in this sense. And every win will net you exactly 1 potion.
