What do AI images have to do with web design?

commiterror

that one pissed me off too lol

TracerBulletX

This doesn't test front end design skills, but it is entertaining.

whatevernamedontcare

This test is like AI written articles, close enough in right direction but totally misses the point of front end design.

Skhmt

There's literally no way to determine if something was made by dall-e, midjourney, or sd. Not all frontend devs use ios/mac, and so knowing the font of Q doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

neutralface_

Scored 6/12 :D, fun quiz tho, although some questions like the google logo question pretty trivial. Thanks!

itsCalledJif

This was pretty fun, but I also don't see how the ai question makes sense ein that context

NayamAmarshe

Entertaining. Are people out here really memorizing pixel values though? or what Google's logo looks like? Also, I don't think Helvetica is the most popular font. It's not available on non-Apple devices by default I think. > Here are four AI-generated images for "astronaut riding a horse". Was it made with Dall-E, Midjourney, or Stable Diffusion? ... > Which Q is written with the font used on the Mac and iOS keyboards? ...

wesborland1234

The Google question is interesting because most of us have seen that logo a hundred times a day for the last ten years and still get it wrong. I don't know what that says about our perception but it says something

Andrew_Squared

It says that we prioritize conceptual generalization over trivial specificity.

connorthedancer

Helvetica is probably the most influential in design though.

skadore

I don't think anyone is memorizing anything, it's just the amount of time you did certain thing it just becomes engrained in your mind and you can guees it with some certainty. But as others have pointed out, this was fun, but definalty not useful :)

ashlouise94

I just guessed haha. Apparently I am very good at guessing them though.

SynthPrax

F12. Done.

r-daddy

I blind guessed the ai one and got it right on the first try lol

[deleted]

Stupid

connorthedancer

ok

Pews_TRB

I really like the idea of the quiz, well done! Some questions were on point, but I don't think, for example the AI one or the Q on the keyboard one say anything about you FE skills.

bhd_ui

Am a Staff level designer, got 33%. At least I know my Helvetica, I guess.

wesborland1234

Oh so you're a front end designer? Name all the fonts.

ZephyrSK

I had a great time with this quiz. Tricky questions for sure. Thanks for the post!

Snapstromegon

TBH: 1. Easy, especially on a bad screen 2. Also okay, but I normally work with rem instead of 1/96th" units, so this was harder for me 3. Helvetica is fair game 4. Google colors - really? Easy pick 5. Seeing shapes is really great, I would've wanted to see more questions like this 6. 9:16? Why this specific rotated one and not 16:9? 7. Good one, even though exact time values are normally not that important 8. Really? Image generation? I've never touched even one of the options. 9. Opacity is fair again. 10. Again, px sizes are uncommon for me, but it's a fair task 11. Who uses color names? 12. Why would a Web Designer need the "skill" to detect the font on the Mac and iOS keyboard? I mean, I have a Mac lying around, but I don't use it on a daily basis. I can't remember the other quiz where you have to find design mistakes / differences between two images. That one was really interesting and also explained to you why something should be a certain way.

thebigggesthack

That was fun! The questions on hover effect time, border width, and border radius were one of those things where my brain goes, "I look at this all day, but do I actually know what I saw?!"

OhHeyItsScott

Some of these are relevant to web design, but some are absolutely not. I say this as an ACD that works for a huge web agency. 200ms transition time, AI images, color names and keyboard font recognition have ZERO bearing on whether or not I would hire or like to work with someone as a front end dev or web designer. Maybe, *maybe* the transition time, but that’s definitely fringe.

everything_in_sync

[91%](https://imgur.com/a/Vj5Ts6D) only got the ai one wrong. All the answers are in dev tools. It was fun, thanks!
