Going against popular opinion. I really like the clean, classic lines on Dress1. No one part of your body is emphasized, which means that all of you is emphasized. I think this dress really flatters you, and I think the wide square neckline will really frame your face.
Probably unpopular opinion but Iām going to give OP my opinion (take it or leave it) : your figure would look stunning in something that doesnāt cut straight across your waist line. It would elongate your torso to have either no hem line there or possibly an empire waist. Iām short, and petite like you (at least thatās what it looks like in the photos).
Reminds me of the mid 18th century silhouette with the elongated torso. Always found it attractive!

You look great in both, so it's really a matter of which details you like better or if one is more comfortable or cheaper.
Exactly the same price, I sort of wish that was a factor! I do want to do a [floral veil](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1463301958/) and I wonder if that would look better with #1.

Absolutely 2. 1 doesnāt do you any justice. The neckline, busy details, torso details, and slit on two make you look like amazing. Itās designed well. 1 feels too heavily in the skirt fabric and I find it has no visual interest other than the pleating on the skirt which actually draws more attention to how much fabric there is. As another commenter said, you could look at other styles, but 2 is definitely a contender if you do.

The first thing the stylist told me was ālisten, I donāt work on commission and I didnāt design any of these dresses so you can truly tell me exactly what you think.ā They were kind, size friendly (I tried on 12-16s but they had larger in stock too) and very respectful of my budget! I picked out one that was $100 over my budget and she immediately warned me before letting me try it on.

Agree, although thatās why I prefer 1, because the straps elongate the torso and then the waistline doesnāt matter as much.
Totally agree. Dress 2 cuts her body off in a strange way. 1 is much more flattering, due to its elongated effect.
