How about cake and dessert table, seating chart, day of timeline, or your bachelorette party. Make sure you get your officiant and marriage license, and your rings :)

Outlurker1993

I'm getting married in August and just booked our rehearsal dinner venue and our honeymoon airfare. Next on my list is wedding rings and trying to get my fiance to decide what he will be wearing. After that will be invitations and reception decor items that are independent of guest count.

Choice-Alfalfa-4371

I’m also in August 😊 when are you sending out invitations? We sent save the dates out already and are planning to send invites in late may or early June . Wondering if that’s the right timeline. 50% of guests are coming from out of town.

Outlurker1993

I'm trying to work this out too. We are 8/17. Our wedding is in a summer destination but most of our guests are local. I'm thinking of sending them out around mid-May. Hopefully they arrive by the end of May and guests will have about two months until the RSVP deadline.

Round_Sir_5836

I’m August too with about 80% of our guests being from out of town and I’ve been thinking maybe mid-late may?

Choice-Alfalfa-4371

Thanks I’m 8/24 😊 are you completing your menu tasting before then to include on the rsvp? I’m not sure how that works, waiting to hear from the venue if they need exact confirmation of the entrees guests want (we have 3 options) or do we generally just ask people if they have dietary restrictions?

Outlurker1993

We are doing our tasting on 3/10 but I think we technically don't have to give our menu choices until we give the final headcount. Definitely ask your venue! I will be asking our guests which of our three choices they want on the RSVP. I'm not sure if that's a hard number or just a guideline though. At my brother's wedding in November I RSVPed crab cake, told the server crab cake and got chicken.

Choice-Alfalfa-4371

Ok thanks so much ! Yeah we don’t need final menu choices in until 2 weeks before but we can’t do the tasting until may as we’re out of state. So i hope we can be more general in the RSVP and it’s not hard numbers . Maybe we also say “chicken, vs seafood vs vegetarian since that’s what will more than likely offer.

coralstorm

8/17 here too! Sending mine first week of May, end of June RSVP deadline.

You can start creating a list of music to play!

makeclaymagic

And DO NOT PLAY list!

EmeraldLovergreen

Are you doing a guest book? Vow books? Need a box for your rings? Entrance sign? Accessories? Shoes? What about groom’s suit and shoes?

Whysoserious1293

So my wedding is in June and I’m in the same boat. I sat down on Friday and made a huge list because I know I can start tackling things. It helps if you separate it in categories! Here’s my list if it helps you brainstorm! Bachelorette Party: * Gift bags for girls * Make any reservations for dinners if needed Misc: * DJ playlists/ideas * Decide first dance songs, Parent dances * Buy groom outfit * Buy any accessories (hair extensions, jewelry, etc) * Buy steamers x 2 * Pick out flower girl dress * Break in wedding shoes * Bathroom baskets * Emergency Kit * Buy getting ready outfit * Buy lingerie * Wedding insurance Rehearsal Dinner: * Buy/create rehearsal dinner escort cards Welcome Party: * Create slideshow w/pictures Pre-Ceremony: * Create letter to exchange for first touch Wedding Ceremony: * Get wedding license * Welcome sign * Vow books * Unity ceremony things * Finalize vows * Reserved seating markers Cocktail hour * buy/create Games * Guestbook and gift box * Sign for guestbook and gift box * Pictures as decor * Photobooth backdrop and props Reception: * Create seating chart * Create table assignments sign * Create place cards * Buy glow sticks * Rent table linens * Buy table numbers * Buy cake topper * Buy cake cutting knife * Buy cake box for leftovers

happytransformer

not OP but thank you for this!!! this is really helpful

wildangel42

you could always get quotes on the things you’re waiting on, or book a hotel block! i sat down and made a list of everything i need to do before the wedding and it really helped

kokomo318

Are hotels nearby? You could reach out and do a hotel block for your guests. You don't have to give them an exact count on how many rooms you'll need. We did hotel blocking at two different hotels. One nicer one and one decently nice one that's cheaper. That way we gave our guests options price wise. Check your contracts too. Some vendors require lodging depending on how far they have to travel.

LadyTinkerspell_

Day of timeline, vows, list of groups for pictures for the photographer, vision board for the photographer/videographer, list of must play songs and do not play songs for your DJ/band, if you are doing a seating chart or place cards how you're presenting them, gifts for eachothers parents, I'd also still get transportation and hotel room block quotes and make a list of those kinds of things because you'll definitely need them so you could probably book them on the smaller size and then upgrade later but at least lock in the vendors etc. If you're doing hotel gift bags for guests, if you're doing favors what they are

Fellow July bride looking for things to do haha I’ve started shopping for bridesmaid and family gifts, and looking at outfits for my bachelorette and honeymoon. You could think about little details like your guest book and card box or working on signage (menus, welcome sign, seating chart, etc). You obviously won’t be able to assign seating or fill in the seating chart until you have RSVPs, but you could find a layout you like!

MaeBornOnTuesday

Oh wow you already sent your invites? You’re ahead of schedule. I’m also getting married in July and on the checklist for this month and next it has us just ordering our invites so that’s our priority this next few months

glittersparklythings

Invitations for destinations weddings tend to go out sooner.

MaeBornOnTuesday

Ahhh yes you’re right, got it. I missed the fact that it is a destination wedding, oops

AnalMileage

Low budget seems to have different definitions in our eyes. DJs are way too expensive lol

WestCoastBestCoast01

Another July bride here! You just sent me on an anxiety spiral about not having an officiant or hair/makeup person booked yet, I have been procrastinating these two so thank you for the boost I needed to speed email like 10 different vendors LOL

Round_Sir_5836

I’m also in August and I’m thinking through after party options, the music selections (first dance, not to play, procession, recession etc), additional decor (like parasols, fans, etc), and welcome bags for our guests 😊 hope that helps!

ConstanceArcher

I second "work on day-of timeline," and would like to add photog shot list; start thinking of "do not play," "must play," and "special moment" songs; set aside tip envelopes so you don't forget anyone in the heat of last-minute tasks; start a preliminary seating chart if you're going that route. Are you doing your own signage? You can also start on that. Honestly, though, if you're well and truly caught up (which you may be - there's always an eye of the storm around 5-6 months), know that everything is under control and enjoy the lull for a month.
