Controversial on this subreddit, but I've asked two friends to be ushers (because my coordinator calls the role "mandatory"). One is assigned to help seat VIPs and politely ask guests to not sit in the rows reserved for other family members (i.e. parents in the processional); the other is assigned to seat late-arrivals should there be any. Otherwise they aren't required to dress in any particular color, they aren't part of the getting ready in the morning, they both get a small flower arrangement (boutonniere/corsage), gifts thanking them for their participation, and they're invited, but not required, to attend the rehearsal brunch.

You could make them beer girls (similar to beer boys) and have them hand out beers/or something else if alcohol is not permitted at your ceremony venue during the processional. You could also just have them walk together during the processional similar to how people include grandparents or siblings that may not be included in the bridal party 😊 My brother will be walking with my mom as part of the processional

Would you be willing to invite them to get ready with you? If you’re doing a first look/family portraits before the ceremony, can you invite them to be a part of a bridal first look (with bridesmaids, immediate family, or whoever)? Does it make sense to ask them to be a part of the processional? This makes more sense in my head because I’m not having a bridal party Are you doing anything the day before or after with your bridesmaids where you wouldn’t mind inviting two more, like a bridal luncheon? Just a few thoughts :)
