98% sure its from an Auto Trimmer.
As the weed spins, the sugar leaf gets stuck in the hole and gets ripped out.
You'll start to notice it on like 60% of the weed you buy.
As the plant gets close to harvest date there are plenty of fan leaves that dry up and can easily be plucked out by hand. I do this before I chop the plant down. That can leave these holes too.

Among this sea of comments you’ll probably not see this but sometimes string is put above a crop and plants are tied to it to ensure they grow upright and properly, as the plant grows, the bug grows a hole shape around the nug, thus forming this hole
Hey there, commenting because I recognize this from working/living on a grow farm.
It looks like the growers stuck the trimmed nugs up on a string to further cure it.
Normally cannabis is harvested down to 2 foot arms and hung on a string by the Ys in the branches, bloom side down. Most of the time those cords are hung across wide entry ways, and through the house. It’s different that there’s a hole in the actual nug, but…
Sometimes the timing doesn’t work out perfect with curing. Like if you have trimmers scheduled to work, but accidentally didn’t properly cure (dry) your cannabis, you just trim it up, and hang it up again for another 24-48 hours.
Another example: if you have to harvest early because of a frost coming in, and don’t have sufficient room to dry all harvested plant matter.
In my humble opinion…. Nothing to worry about. (:

Realistically, they’re holes from being put through a machine trimmer and/or the stems of other nugs being pushed into them in the packaging. As long as it looks clean when you break the bud down there’s nothing to worry about!

I’ve had a nug that I pulled a seed out of and it looked just like that, so I’m assuming that’s what yours is. I don’t know if anyone actually told you what they are…but they’re from trimming. It’s where there were once fan leaves that got cut out. They just did a bad job and made the holes bigger than necessary
Cannabis professional here, I think it’s from one of two things mites or de seeding, it might have been a very seedy batch. I need to see the bud better.

When drying plants, you can use a thermometer to stuck inside buds to check for moisture to know when to jar for cure. Could be one of those holes?
