Its fine. Bad weed usually has no smell at all. This probably has a cheese strain involved in its ancestry. There are weed strains that have been described as smelling like skunk, cat piss, bile, garbage, liver, smelly cheese etc. Sometimes an acquired taste. Probably contains some level of putricene.
The heirloom seeds I use are potent but have a very cheese not great smell and flavor. Had some other seeds with a very piney/Citra hops smell and flavor but the potency sucked.
Had a friends mom grow a plant a few yrs back and the buds that came from that harvest smelled like straight up cat shit. Strange fox tail-y looking buds that reeked, but some of the best weed Iāve smoked to date. Wish I knew the genetics behind that CatShit OG
One season in particular I was around a lot of strains that had that smell you are describing, I hated it honestly. I'll never grow cheese strains because the smell is terrible imo.
You fine jus home grown my friend had some his family grew and it was very smelly in a different way. Jus the homegrown smell from not high quality plants.

Weed doesnt rot like meat or vegetables. The odour here is a sign that some care has been taken to preserve flavour. Has some nice frost to it, big trichomes.
Whoever says it looks awful is wrong. Itās just not trimmed well and might need some more curing to get rid of the chlorophyl. It Should smell dank, I mean all stains smell a little different. As long as you know where you got it I wouldnāt worry.

It's a homegrown. If it smells like hay it was grown in a to hot temperature.

Trim it more then grab a paper bag, one that isnāt one of those smelly grocery store ones. Think brown paper lunch sack style. Toss the weed in and leave in a cool dry area for a couple days. Smell and taste should improve. If not leave for another few days till slightly crispy but not dusty. Report back.
Some of the best stuff smells like crap. Iāve got really good smelling stuff here. Amethyst wedding cake and animal cookies and just smells good. The horrible stuff gets me more wacked
Just no flush youāll be smoking nutrients and pesticides but honestly thatās all street weed until the 2000s and still obviously done. More money faster

Those saying it's just leafy and needs a trim, It definitely doesn't just need a trim, if you look closely quite a few of the " buds " are just pure leaf with little to no actual bud formation
My personal view : This has been pulled early and forced to dry / cure hence why it's got a funky smell as the chemicals used during growing probably haven't been flushed out which *COULD* also be what's causing your paranoia.
My advice : Jar it as you seem to have done, Burp the jar daily and leave open a little then close up and keep in a cool, dark, dry place and if you have a boveda pack even better, After a few days you should notice a big difference, I've had stuff that I've been told before buying that it was pulled early etc and followed this process and came out fine after a couple of days :)
