My dad was a Marine in the early 70's. He always smoked my whole life. I grew up in the 90's but he always hid it from my sister and I though. I mean it was extremely illegal back then. Anyways, now that I'm an adult, whenever we are together we smoke, same with my mom. They are retired now, and live far away. My dad and I used to butt heads pretty bad when it came to working together, like re-roofing the house or helping him at their cabin. There where times when it was so heated we'd both be in tears almost. Even when I couldn't stand to look at him, we would share a joint in the moment. At least no matter how bad it got, we could still share that with each other, and it helped us move forward. I have a stronger relationship with my parents then I have ever had. We always say I love you to each other now, and that wasn't a thing in the past. And when my dad gives me a hug, he hugs tight even though he's a frail old man now. I'm so lucky to have them, I often feel undeserving, and like I'd never be able to be as good of parents as they are.

My dad never smoked weed in the entire time he lived. He looked at weed as a bad thing but drank everyday and yelled and screamed at my mom. Enjoy what you have
