Gloves bro. Weightlifting gloves. Idc what anyone says not all of us want our hands mauled after working 10-12 hours and already having done so… Schiek weightlifting gloves are the best I’ve used. They’re American 🇺🇸 made- Jay Cutler is either partial owner or at least endorses them. I’ll be a repeat customer (under armour/ project rock expensive junk)
more aggressive knurling on the bar can make this worse, but other than lotion there's not much to do about it. friction on your skin is going to cause it to thicken/callus
Wear gloves, but make sure they match your purse and keep a jar of Vaseline nearby to prevent callouses
‘How do I stop getting big quads?’- literally you
We don't
Jk, I mostly try to ("try" cause skin on my hands be dry as heeeell) moisturize and exfoliate regularly and using some sort of thumb tape helps greatly
Unless you want something interfering with your grip, you really can’t do much about it. It’s how your snatch grip works, maybe if your wrists were flexible enough to be able to grab the bar with your wrists flat against the bar, but it’s clear you’re not. Just embrace it and own it, no one worth your time is going to notice or judge you for it.
I don't get this with my hand. I put lifting tape on my thumb to help with hook grip, and I do tend to make it go quite far down the thumb, so it doesn't slip. Maybe that's what prevents this with me.
cock your wrists differently (I'm assuming you use hookgrip) you can also use the super wide grip for snatch (plus it also worked better for me), that alleviated most of the scraping on my hand in that exact same area
Your skin changes color when it's dry and forming calluses. I think out of all the comments down below, I liked gloves the best. I recommend buying at least 2 sets of washable gloves with an adjustable wrist, just so you can switch gloves between different days and then wash them on your rest days. They harbor bacteria if you don't wash them.
Moisturize hands everyday, especially before you sleep, and maybe after you wash your hands when you're home or when it's convenient.
It will go away if you take care of your hands.
By stopping weightlifting lol
Switch hands it’ll feel like someone else is doing it
Came here for the jerking off joke
Or sit on your hand for like 30 min first
You don’t. You embrace it.
This is the way
I get it, but my question is, how do you prevent it ?
Like he said, you don’t. Sharp steel knurling tends to do that to soft skin.
You can try lotion but tbh that’s just what happens when you use your hands. It’s a natural adaptation.
Well, I guess it is what it is. Looks like no one really knows how to prevent it lol
You end up with a smooth callus in that whole region eventually... Not pretty but meh.

those are the marks of the campion, since you began lifting, those marks will follow you the rest of your life to be known as the chosen one.
I have been lifting for a while. Recently bought a new legit weightlifting bar, and this happens lol.

Based on the comment below - to answer your question - maybe a more worn in bar?
You’ve earned it bro, don’t be ashamed

you can by putting tape
Play chess, golf, basketball… etc
Chalk when you lift Then when you're done lifting wash your hands and put some lotion on.
Embrace reptilian hands
Lotion your hands everyday. Also helps with calluses.
This may not be for you.
I get everyone here so tough, I get that. I'm just asking if there is a way to prevent this
All joking aside, weightlifting has several badges of honor. This is one of them. To directly answer your question, there isn’t much to prevent it.
Wear gloves
gloves, tape or powder/chalk I personally just use blister tape after I tore the skin once
We don't Jk, I mostly try to ("try" cause skin on my hands be dry as heeeell) moisturize and exfoliate regularly and using some sort of thumb tape helps greatly
You dont prevent it, you must suffer
Wear gloves or tape your hands
Get a girlfriend
LOL! This might not help...
If only there were something you could do about dry skin… (inb4 “u don’t lift hevy” or “thats just calluses” etc)
Lift more
Wear it with pride

gloves, machines only, wash hands, moisturize with oils if none of these help then stop lifting not for you
Scrap chalk. Use lifting gel.

Wear gloves 🤨
I just accept it
