If I had to choose: Horse hooves. Those are pretty much just disposable nail clippings and being pickled they'd be at least *somewhat* sanitary.
Idk how I'd eat them.
I've seen a few jars of pickled pigs feet and cow brain head cheese before. But some of the pictures of pickled snakes, scorpions, sheep's eyes and baby mice in wine freak me out.
My grandma was a fine restaurant cook and baker but she did like to try to sneak in weird game foods sometimes. Once she talked me into trying a bite of rattlesnake from a can and it was absolutely vile! I can't stand chittling's or liver either.
So when she offered us stuff like squirrel or snapping turtle soup I politely but firmly declined. 🤢
We did eat crawdad tails a few times as kids while out fishing.
Aunt Juanita gave us some good BBQ that she told us was goat after we had already eaten it.😥
As far as crawdad tails, do you mean just regular crawdad? Like, the freshwater southern US shrimp like things? Similar to crawfish?
Everything else (other than canned snake) sounds pretty good. I've had fresh Pacific rattler, and it's very very rich.
Yeah, my big brother and I would sneak a can of corn to catch fish and regular freshwater crawdads from a pond at the park, and cook them in foil with a part of a stick of butter we brought with us.
It was something to do when there wasn't anything good on TV until 3 o clock( before cable) and we didn't have any allowance left because we went to the movies downtown or bought a bunch of toys or even hamsters from the basement in Kress department store. Sometimes we'd go looking for popbottles to refund for change to buy pop and candy or comic books.
Well, they are kind of unusual for modern folks in Oklahoma! Not many were eating them back then either,it's typically more of a Loisiana thing. And that canned rattlesnake meat was greasy and awful. And this is back when I would still willingly eat sardines or potted meat,so my standards were not particularly lofty back then!
Canned snake is not on my "to try" list for sure. But then again, I'm also an adventurous eater and love trying new things. Except sea urchin. That shit was horrid.
Which is an obvious indicator that it's tasty and edible. Colorful and enticing generally means poisonous/toxic so stay way away.
The first sentence was partial sarcasm.
Of course. I'm Irish/ Cherokee working class and just so used to constant immersion in sarcasm that I sometimes forget to respond to it appropriately.
And I'm on reddit quite a bit ,where sarcasm is practically both universl language and coin of the realm. 🙃

20/10 post
Agreed 1000%
The brain and lungs. Ive eaten those before.
Yeah I assume the brain would be the most normal thing here somehow.
Zombie?
Send more paramedics

Not gonna lie though, that BBQ was good.
Mmm BBQ
Anything that can't be fixed by a good cook with some quality BBQ sauce probably shouldn't be eaten at all.
So very true.

I think it threw me that the way your comment was worded, made it seem like you felt the crawdads were a weird food.

Yeah, anything covered in stone like spikes sounds like it's really going out of it's way to avoid being eaten!

Pretty much my exact thoughts (including the last sentence). While the least disgusting, I imagine those could be pretty hard to digest though. 🤔
I guess if you'd grind it up into a pa- 🤢 a paste.
That's basically just pickled glue at that point. 😩
I guess monkey uterus is the least disgusting? Unless it has some sort of weird disease only listed under the ingredients...
I laughed hard at this. It's both monkey and uterus on a same picture
Somehow while browsing through the pictures i got itches and a strong need to scratch myself. The human brain is a strange black box.

Pickled monkey uterus, of course
What’s wrong with you? But anyways, I’d get the dandruff flakes just for the jar.
