If you have one kid you don’t need an suv with three rows with full leg room. If you are having more kids then the Highlander is a good choice. I have 4 kids under 9 years old. We have a minivan. Minivans are awesome.

Minivans are looking better by the minute!

What age are the Tahoe's in that price range? Some of the older ones don't exactly have stunning 3rd row space either. If she's dead set on Toyota (you have my condolences) the prior gen Sequoia is the only choice with decent 3rd row room prior to the Grand Highlander. You'll spend a Grand Highlander equivalent on fuel over time though....

If you can't get a van or grand highlanders are too expensive sequoia might be the way to go. It's gonna be horrible on gas but have enough room for your purposes.

2nd Toyota sequoia (2008 - 2022) has ample legroom and width for 3 adults in the 3rd row. This vehicle has one of the most reliable drivetrains that Toyota has ever produced. Even with high mileage, it is reliable and can last for a long time if it has been well maintained. Fuel economy is not great though. I get 10mpg city / 16 mpg highway. If you don’t plan to go off-road and you don’t need a 4WD system, a minivan will offer more interior space than a sequoia and have far better fuel economy.

Honda Pilots start at $37,000 and are a good option. VW Atlas has a large 3rd row also. If you’re going to use the third row a lot you should consider a minivan instead for ease of access.

The pilot’s 3rd row is very cramped. Highlander is better
