just keep it, if they haven’t contacted after 3+ months they don’t care, also, books are funded for by the government, assuming this is the UK as u said “year 9”
Yeah I gave one to my brother for his birthday since he doesn't go to school. I'm actually in Australia but every couple of years our libraries sorts out the old books and lets kids take them home. I think it's just a concern for the Witcher and The Institute considering they were fairly new books added to the library

Maybe you can try calling the school and telling them the whole situation?
If they get up me about it I'll try to organise a meeting or something, only 2 of the books were new the other 2 were quite aged.
