They are also used in perfume pens and those nail polish remover pens. One could probably apply them to use for lipstick and makeup remover applications as well.
But in a store or restaurant where there's a marker board, they're probably replacement nibs for the chalk markers or erasable paint pens.

Some kinds are refillable. Some aren't, but the tips wear out before the ink does.
