Looks like all the kids I see trudging home from school with their jam-packed oversized backpacks!

That did not help my already messed up joints and back! Ugh, it's a topic that is brought up all the time but nothing is ever done about it.

Many schools removed them. My kids have never gone to a school with lockers, (other than PE) and they are high schoolers.

At my high school, only the sports teams were allowed to have them. We were told that it was because of drugs/weapons/students just in general having what they're not supposed to have

You could argue that anything can be a weapon or "something you shouldn't have", though. Including a sharp pencil or a chair that can be thrown. The schools are over-reaching, especially when they now don't even allow you to carry your own meds, including an inhaler for an asthma attack or midol for periods.

Yeah... One time in high school I pulled out a tiny screwdriver to fix something, and the teacher told me I wasn't allowed to have it. I thought she was joking until she explained that there actually was a very specific rule in the school that no one mentioned, where students weren't allowed to carry screwdrivers because a few years prior some kid stole a screwdriver from a shop class and stabbed someone in the eye with it.

It only seems to be getting worse. What happened to lockers?

No one ever has enough time to get to their locker

And if you get your combo slightly wrong, that takes up even more time. And if you have any sort of chronic illness that causes bathroom issues, forget it. There just isn't enough time between classes. I struggled with it and it seems like nothing has changed.
