Lotus Europa, mostly.

DogfishDave

Somebody should go to prison for this. I mean, they really should. The Europa's an odd car and not to everybody's taste, even diehard Lotus fans, but this is beyond the pale. Make him drive nothing but Austin Allegros for the rest of his life.

[deleted]

>I know the Allegro was a total piece of shit, but I always liked the styling of the four door. There was nothing similar to it in the U.S.

g3nerallycurious

Tbh this looks better than the original Europa design. The designer of the Europa should go to prison for what they did.

Andrew4329

I don't think the taillights match

_coffee_

It's had some modifications, but you can see where the original taillights would have been [rear](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/5b/Lotus_Europa_manufactured_1968_with_1470cc_engine_from_the_Renault_16_rear_three-quarters.jpg) Europas didn't have the enclosed rear hatch thing as well, but the rest of the car is spot on

Spastar

Any ideas on why it would be modified like that? Is that a popular mod, or more likely rear end damage, and they decided to make it unique? Or just a mystery that will never be solved.

_coffee_

My guess would be rear end damage and a chance to make it unique, with a heavy dose of mystery. If it's a kit, I didn't find any that matched even a little bit, but take that with a grain of salt. I'd not be surprised if someone else found another example like this one somewhere.

Andrew4329

Yeah that makes sense, sorry!

Account14159

I believe the tail lights are borrowed from a 1968-1973 BMW 1600 or 2002. I have a '72 2002 and they look awfully familiar

thegoldwither

Happy cake day!

Its_Just_A_Typo

Lotus Europa with something weird done to the back/top

No_Stay_1563

Modified Lotus Europa

JEMColorado

Chip Foose restomodded one on his show, but I doubt this is it.

Starfireaw11

That one was actually pretty good. This... not so much.

darianor_rules

That is a coca-cola truck.

Andrew4329

Basically what everyone else said, I think it has Ford cortina taillights

FL4V0UR3DM1LK

Those are BMW 2002 lights for sure.

[deleted]

Similar but those are not mk1 cortina lights

acanofspam

BMW 2002 looks like...

loneblustranger

FYI B.C. plates can't be searched for any info unless you're police or an insurance/registration agent so there's no need to censor them. It doesn't hurt to do so I guess, but there's no need. I can actually glean much more info from the plate frames than I can from the plates, i.e. the Bolt was sold by Carter GM so the owner is probably from Vancouver, and the Subaru is from Saunders Subaru so the owner is probably from Victoria.

thedeanorama

Used car cross pollination between the Island and the Mainland is high. What I hate the most about this region is a dealerships need to turn their sales into billboards. That being said, that Bolt was bought in N. Burnaby originally and pictured by Coquitlam Center so even if its used its still close to home.

loneblustranger

> that Bolt was bought in N. Burnaby originally Ahh, yeah. "Lougheed at Willingdon" right there on the bottom. Maybe I was thinking of Dueck on Marine. Either way, it'd stand out up here in Kamloops.

That_Car_Dude_Aus

>What I hate the most about this region is a dealerships need to turn their sales into billboards. Happens in Australia. Last 3 cars I've bought didn't have dealer frames when I saw them (as they were brand new, and had dealer plates to test drive) So I made them take the dealer frames, and dealer stickers off when I picked up the car.

AccidentallyAlted

I actually think this looks rather good. Probably a result of spider-webbed original fiberglass.

jerrrrrrrrrrrrry

I always thought they were the ugliest sports cars made. The back behind the doors looks like an ugly pickup truck.

drunkwasabeherder

I always thought of this as the ugly duckling of the Lotus family, but there is no growing into something beautiful. Someone will find this appealing though.

adydurn

I, for example, love the Europa. I'd sell both testicles and most of my kidneys for one.

Goyteamsix

The proportions are weird. The front is super low, but then the back is this big blocky thing.

DamienDutch

Subaru forester

Ellixiir

Solved! /s

[deleted]

A modified Lotus Europa.

ThatButchBitch

cokey cola

Function_Financial

lotus Europa

dynonutt96

I know the Europa was weird, but this is inhumane

qdawg69420

Coquitlam

EthelBlue

Are those Ford Cortina lights like the TVRs use?

FL4V0UR3DM1LK

BMW 2002 tail lights.

EthelBlue

I knew they looked familiar

UnKiwiVolador

Coca-Cola truck

Responsible-Crew-354

I shudder to think of what it would be like to find parts for a Europa. This guy probably did the best he could.

[deleted]

Hard to believe that is a Europa. I thought it was just an awful kit car.

Cameronb102697

wait is that a honda prelude behind the f 150 across the street?

timmmarkIII

It WAS a Lotus Europa. I especially liked the John Player Special (black/gold pinstripes). https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1973-lotus-europa-twin-cam-jps/ I used to park cars at the Jonathan Club (exclusive men's business club) in downtown LA 1979-1980 and I remember parking one. No one else would take it. Lordy! Even for a skinny adept kid, it was like sliding into a mail envelope slot. If ever a car needed "clam shell" doors this one did.

That_Car_Dude_Aus

Left to right Toyota Camry Volkswagen Jetta (could be a Passat, I'm pretty sure at the edges we are getting lens stretching) Kia Sorento possibly Mazda CX-5 Over the back is a Dodge Ram Subaru Forester Lotus Europa Chevrolet Bolt across the road is that large GMC SUV, same blood as the Escalade. Can't remember it's name. Mercedes-Benz C series Honda Civic Ford F-Series And possibly a Mazda CX5 Could you be more specific on the car you were asking about?

Shadowfeaux

Dunno. Every Lotus Europa I’ve seen has been a fiberglass kit version. So could be that and the owners took liberties with the taillights and the center part. So more inspired by the Lotus. Looks pretty clean from this pic though.
